duchess of cambridge is pregnant [merged]

It has.......and apparently she's in hospital with morning sickness  i'm no pregnancy expert but all the ladies on here manage with a touch of morning sickness without a 'stay in hospital' ......

OH :S is she actually ill? I've never heard of morning sickness being that severe before..... shows how much I know

I was actually very ill from 5 weeks and was admitted to hospital a total of 13 times! Spending more than 8 weeks in hospital all together. There is a difference between morning sickness and HG

That's crazy! I can't believe how long I've been on this site and not heard of this before :dohh:

Hope all is well now :)

I'm surprised at a woman on here being so ignorant about severe nausea and vomiting in pregnancy. The condition is called Hyperemesis and it's very real and very awful. I've suffered it myself with both my pregnancies and it's not 'just a bit of morning sickness' it's an illness that can affect any woman during their pregnancy particularly the first trimester. It can cause severe dehydration and malnutrition due to the fact you are unable to keep anything down. The Duchess is obviously being fed intravenously hence why she is in hospital. She will be suffering terribly. You are lucky you have suffered from it and I hope you never do.

Honestly I never meant any offence ...... It's just genuinely something I've never concerned. I wasn't being malicious

The first article I read about it made it sound like she was in hospital for a little bit of morning sickness - totally baffled me. I've never been pregnant so I wouldn't know what morning sickness is like but I just assumed its like when you feel a little bit meh and sickly. I didn't realise it could be so severe - I apologise if I've offended anyone.

The first I heard of hyperemesis was when I got diagnosed hun. Even my doctor googled it :dohh:

Hey Twilight,
I'm sorry. I didn't mean that to come across as it did and it's nothing personal. I regret posting that. I think I'm getting easily upset just now with the pregnancy hormones raging.
Hyperemesis is a relatively rare condition (thankfully or we would have a population decline lol) so I shouldn't just assume that everyone on a pregnancy forum would automatically know what it is.
I've had so many comments from people who can't understand or don't believe it's as bad as you say. Things like 'but it's just morning sickness, surely you must be ok by the afternoon' when the truth is that every single waking moment is like suffering from the worst food poisoning/gastroenteritis ever. All you can do is lie flat in bed because movement makes it worse and that's when you're not throwing up into the toilet or crying your eyes out because you just feel horrendous. Then you get people saying 'have a ginger biscuit and then you'll be ok' when the thought of anything passing your lips is repulsive.
The only thing that helps slightly is anti sickness medication and being fed fluids intravenously (if it gets really bad like it has done with Kate) otherwise dehydration can occur which is dangerous for mother and baby.
Anyway I hope you can forgive me for my outburst. That is not the real me. Just having a bad time feeling so unwell and feel like people doubt the condition, didn't mean to take it out on you. Hopefully Kate will be on the road to recovery soon. I am really happy for them xxx

No worries :) hope you feel better soon :flower:

Congrats to them I say.

I wish her a speedy recovory and hope the press leave her alne

The media is really screwing things up. I first heeard she was hospitalized with "morning sickness" and my first thought was "why the hell would she need to be hospitalized for that? I've puked my guts out at home just fine." Media always gets info wrong.

That being said, congrats to them I guess. They sure were getting enough pressure from everyone wanting them to have a kid from the second they got married. I'm Canadian though so don't listen to me.

Finding it pretty hard not to be incredibly offended by all the comments in the media and on facebook about her being dramatic and it only being morning sickness, I hope it raises awareness and the reasonable part of me knows that it is so rare its just not known about, my doctor has only ever had me and one other patient with it and my consultant had never dealt with it before me either. My heart goes out to her, I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy

I think it's great! :)

Now twins would be brilliant! Am I right in thinking baby will be above Harry now?

Yeah that's right, everyone will get pushed back a 'space' and then further with any other children they have.xx

Did they announce the due date? I just heard she's in the first trimester...

I'm not British, but I am happy for the two of them. I have a small affection for them. She is just a level of cool I'll never be. :haha: I do hope she feels better soon. :flower:

There were a bunch of people earlier wondering if morning sickness could really be that bad, I had it really bad first trimester and ended up in the hospital for a couple of nights because I lost too many fluids and wasnt getting enough nutrients. :/

aww i am so happy for them. although i think diana and elizabeth will be in the middle name. i think if its a girl she will be called charlotte.

Congratulations to them!

I really don't like the mentality that just because Kate is famous we can judge her. If usomeone posted on here saying they had to be hospitalised due to morning sickness no body would say "it's just morning sickness why you making a big deal out of it".

Yes it will be in the news loads because it is a big deal first off its a baby any baby is a big deal and special and secondly its our future king or queen!

I hope she recovers soon and has a happy and healthy 9 months

Maybe people will now realise that morning sickness isnt just a fast throw up in the morning for a few it can be terrible and constant throwing up. I see so many ignorant comments on this subject and judging her over her status and severity. Many girls in this forum including me knows how it feels. I was bad, never went to hospital so I can imagine any one being worse than that and ending up there with the media crawling all over them. Last thing any one needs.

but as off this baby they changing the law that who ever is born first regardless of sex will get the throne...but for the sake of like a minute of two depends who gets the throne....can you imagine the rivarly??

In the olden days they used to kill the second baby or send it away to avoid any conflict.

Remember "The man in the iron mask?" it's based on a true story, well King Louis had such a radical change of personality that people couldn't believe he was the same person x

Didnt think about that. That pretty scary...glad we not in 'ye olden days' lol.

Bubba will be 3rd in line for throne after Charles, William then LO. Harry will be 4th unless W & K have another.

ooh so excited on the names Isabella would be awesome name (although not very british....oof to ponder of 'British' names)

I just had a right rant at a lad on my facebook! He basically only ever writes status's to get as many likes as possible (pathetic right?) And decided to start slagging Kate off and then continued on to make it about 'all women' how she's only in hospital over a little sickness because she's a princess and needs some publicity, then onto how all women just over dramatise pregnancy and labour and need to 'man the fuck up' which made me so effing angry!! My reply:

I was told at 8 weeks pregnant I would miscarry because I had severe hyperemesis, and was then constantly told I'd never make it to 12, 16, 20, 24, 27 weeks and I did. After that they were on standby for an extremely prem baby and I shocked them all and made it to term..but only because I was hospitalised every other week to have fluids as my kidneys were on the brink of failing, I had keytosis, and I was getting zero nutrients. Even a sip of water came back up. I was 9stone at 39+8 and as soon as he was born they had to weigh me because of my BMI I was 6stone8. We also both nearly died while I was in labour. Still want to tell me that its 'a little morning sickness' and I needed to 'man up'? I hope she has it nowhere near as bad as me and writing pathetic crap for likes..How mature are you?!

Normally I wouldn't have bit but argh he made me so angry..Especially when the douche bags own sister was really ill with sickness! Not quite that ill but still had to be signed off work for the first 20 weeks x

I really think the fact that some papaers are just saying 'hospitalised with acute morning sickness' is making people like wtf? Only a few announcements said hypermesis.

What a pressure for her - knowing she's cooking the future king or queen!

xx
