February mummies 2011 <3

Jem I totally missed your first post!

That sounds a good labour! I really want a water birth but not sure if I will be allowed as my first birth cesarean. I'm gonna really try and push it though.

5cm to ruby being delivered only 30 minutes.... Did I read that right? Xx

Oh Rach, that's fantastic!!!! I went cold when I read bfp and got a tear to my eye when I read about telling your oh! So have your worked out your due date? X

It was 20 mins!! But it wasn't as painful as it was in the water and as the contractions before were only every 7 mins- it was all easy and ok. Wish o could do the whole labour bit again, it was just perfect. Defo push for te water birth x

Yep my due date is 9th November! Eeek! Dating scan may move it forward but I'm probably gonna have another big one!

I'm really gonna try cause my sister had a lovely water birth too. I dresearch water births after successful vbacs a while back but really could not find anything!

We're gonna tell our mum's on mothers day. I found a poem online which I'm gonna put with some cupcakes.

It's so hard keeping it in. I just wanna tell the whole world. Lol. Xx

Congrats on Ruby, Jem! Sounds like you had a great labor!

Rach, CONGRATULATIONS!! So excited for you! I love how you told your oh!

Congratulations Rachel .... soooo excited for you and I am a little envious lol x

Jen, lovely birth story! Congrats on Ruby. Rach - awesome news!!!! So hope to join you on this one too!!

Thank you. I have to admit I am going to embrace this pregnancy as I know it's my last one. No winging from me. Lol.

Chilly are you trying again? My fingers are crossed for u. Xx

That's how I felt Rach, keep us posted. You off to join the November group?
Goodluck Chilly, can't wait for your news :)
X

They wont be as nice as us Rach :winkwink:
And yes we are trying but for some reason I am not feeling hopeful about it - I think I am too fat!!! And maybe too old!
Jem, how's Ruby doing? Any new baba photos for us to coo over??

Girls, has anyone heard from Virginia? I think of her and all she must have gone through in November often

Chilly I have no idea how to put my photos on here! I can just about post, that's why I have no tickers- crap with technology!!
But in on Facebook- Jemma Parfitt.

Virginia is on my Facebook. Do you have her?
She had a beautiful baby girl called Eden, she lived for over six hours.

I think she is doing ok, she has put some recent photos of Brooklyn, I expect she is keeping Virginia busy... Just so sad...
Viiginia, if your reading, love to know how you are.

Chilly I'm sure your not too fat!!! Or to old!
My friend has just announced she is pregnant, six weeks- and it took her ten months to fall!

Anyones LO started pre school? X

oh my gosh I can't believe this thread is still going! so lovely to see everyone! well, i still see a few of you on facebook which is lovely, but boy do you guys make me broody with all the new little ones :winkwink:

just catching up on the last few pages.

joshua doesn't talk - which upsets me. jakob was doing full blown sentences before joshua was born so he must have been about 20 months.

We saw HV over joshuas speech but she was very lovely and she actually noticed during the session that when joshua looked as if he was going to say something jakob would try to be helpful and say 'joshua wants a drink please' etc so she thought that might be why joshua wasn't talking. we've tried to encourage his speech and tried to get jakob to encourage him rather than talking for him and literally in the last couple of weeks he's begun to start saying words and now he even makes tiny sentences like 'mummy drink please'. we're over the moon as i was really worried to be honest and im so thankful that he seems to be fine. he's definitely 'slower' than jakob in every sense but each childs different and i'm sure he'll be much better at other stuff as he gets older. he's already much better at being loving LOL he's constantly hugging, kissing, squeezing, stroking. i don't know whether it's because we were a lot more baby-led with him and used slings etc or if he would have been that way whether we were exactly the same as when jakob was a baby.

anyway enough rambling - rach i hope your ttc works soon, and i hope lennie is ok. he sounds really loving and bright and i reckon he's just a little slower than average (like joshua) and soon he will catch up and will be walking and talking with the best of them xxx

still catching up.... CONGRATS rach!!! sooo happy for you :) hope you have a lovely long and healthy pregnancy :)

as for the waterbirth you can have one with a vbac! i've caught a few VBAC babies in the water and it's just magical the emotion of the parents after having a section last time.

I was told i couldn't have a waterbirth with my vbac but now i know differently and am kind of angry that they told me i couldn't. They will want to monitor you continuously which can be done in the pool but they need a special waterproof CTG that some hospitals don't have. the trust I work at borrows the wireless waterproof CTG whenever they have a 'high risk' woman who wants to use the pool so it's 100% possible.

You can talk to the supervisor of midwives or a consultant midwife if your regular midwife says 'no' to the waterbirth. Our trust has an amazing consultant midwife who tries to normalise 'high risk' birth and we've recently had a breech vaginal (first baby, over 2 weeks overdue, baby weighed 9lbs) and a twin waterbirth.

I can't believe i'm going to be qualified NEXT YEAR ahhhhhh.

I wish some of you guys lived closer to me, I'm starting a caseloading project where I'm booking a few of my own women in the next few weeks and will be doing antenatal appointments, on call for the birth and then postnatal visits too. Would be lovely to share that continuity with you guys since we went through it all last time together!

oh well, i'm going to try and come on here a bit more regular now. the broodyness is getting worse and i need to get my fix since I can't TTC myself lol!

Hellooooo, I'm so tired all the time I am having naps with Lennie in the afternoon. I wake up moody though because I'm not very good at napping.....tend to go too long.

Chilly I'm overweight too. The only thing we done different this time was BD at least every day around my "fertile" days and a couple of days after. I know it says you should every couple to get better sperm or something but we done that last time and it took so much longer.

Wine I am so glad you have came back on cause you were just the person I wanted to ask about the waterbirth being a VBAC trainee midwife!! I'm so pleased. I did find somewhere that they use special monitors. At the hospital they have a birthing centre at the hospital so I am hoping if they have gone to that much effort for that hopefully they will have that special equipment.....if not I am going to say about them loaning it. With Lennie I didnt have continious monitoring so I am hoping that works in my favour too. I am going to say that this is my birth and this is how I want it cause its my choice right?

When you say about Joshua not talking because Jakob does it for him I think that is really quite common. I know we used to do it for my younger brother and I know other younger siblings who don't due to their older siblings.

We had a horrendous night last night :-(

I called 111 because Lennie had a high temperature and we were worried he had a chest infection. His hands and feet were blue and his body was burning up whilst they were really cold. 111 booked us in to go to out of hours so off we went.
Once we were there they said he had a middle ear infection and we just had to wait for it to pass but keep his temperture controlled. The last recording at OOH was 39.5. They were concerned about his hand and feet. So far we have been fobbed off. Now he is crying when we touch them so he is in pain. They said we need to make an appointment with GP to get him referred to see a cardiologist. She said it may be Raynards but at least we will know what it was cause there has to be a reason.
We had already given him paracetamol but on the way home went to get him iburofin (can't spell it). About 10 minutes later I turned to check on him and he was all stiff and fists clenched and frothing at mouth. I just screamed at Jay to pullover. I called an ambulance and despite knowing exactly what to do when someone fits cause I read it all the time at work at that point I didnt have a clue!
The fit didnt last long prob a little bit longer than a minute. After that he just appeared to be sleeping and breathing rapidly and loudly. We couldnt wake up at all. It was just horrible. Sometimes his breathing changed and in my head I was just thinking please don't stop breathing.
Eventually the ambulance arrived and Lennie woke up when we were inside. He got taken to the hosp and was dazed but smiling at the paramedic all the time. I know exactly why he fitted because of his temperature and I know how commen they are.

We got there about 11pm and were discharged at 1am once his temperature was down. Poor Evie was with us too and knackered! We all went to bed at 2am and Lennie woke up at 8am! So its not surprising today that he has had 3 naps equalling about 6 hours! But he is much better with no temperature thankfully.

Tomorrow Jay is going to the doctors about his feet & hands and is determined not to get fobbed off.

Evie slept in Lens bed and I slept in Eve's double bed with Lennie so I could be near him. His room is so tiny I wouldnt be able to lay out straight on his floor! So last night I had about 6 hours sleep of waking up constantly to check Lennie and now I can't wait to go to bed! xx

Wow Rach - hoe scary was that? I would be totally terrifed. We are very lucky coz Devin gets really high temperatures when he is unwell - well over 40 but thankfully he doesn't seem prone to fitting. I would be useless and just panic I reckon.

Hi ladies, how are you all? And your toddlers? Anyones LO started potty training yet or pre school? Demi has done neither yet. She starts pre school in September. And she is not interested in potty training.

Rach how's your pregnancy going?
Xxx

Hi ladies!!! How is everyone? Rayven is doing well with her potty training and she has finally started saying more words. She still doesn't use sentences, but she will get there in her own time and as she is saying more words, I become less worried.

My little boy, Sam, will be 4 months old on the third of next month. Time is flying by! He babbles quite a bit and has only just started laughing properly over the last few days. He always a smile unless tired or hungry. Can't wait for him to start rolling and crawling properly!

Rach, hope everything is going swimmingly with your pregnancy!!!

Hi ya, how is everyone? Pregnancy is going fine. I'm 12 weeks Saturday and I have first scan on Wednesday. I can't wait. My immune system has seriously taken a hit. I've had 2 bouts of d&v and have a major head cold at the moment. I never normally get ill.
We started lennie potty training ages ago where he would used to sit on the potty and have a poo. Then he went through stages of constant loose stools so it was impossible cause he had no routine. He has recently had diarrhoea and sickness and since then his poo has gone back to normal and he is getting back into a routine but now he just gets off the potty. Lol. I put his little toy laptop in front of him and he sits there for 5 minutes and plays, shuts the lid and climbs off. He says poo and wee now but not to the stage of telling me it's what he want. I think I might just put him on in mornings cause that's his routine and see if he wants to go. Xx
