February Valentines 2012

lol my friends baby boy thinks tummy time is naptime. SO cute. Aria thinks it is tantrum time because she gets really mad that she can't make herself mobile so she rocks front to back and lifts her head and whines a little then if I ignore her too long it's a full out scream. :dohh:

I need to start using my sling. I have a ring sling but I haven't used it much. I use the moby but that's a pain in the butt to get on and off and wrapped around and all that lol.

good luck mumanddad

we just got home so have gone from sleeping in the car to fighting sleep in the swing, so far she's putting up with it just keeps opening her eyes then yawning.

lol at you and the moby swan, we have a woven wrap (long iece of cloth) and have only worn it once, need to get better at wrapping, it's such a faff at the mo. getting the hang of the ring sling now though, i didn't think i'd like it as much as its just on one shoulder but as long as I spread the strap out it's ok

Good luck Kelly!!! Next time we talk to you you will have your little one in your arms!!! Please try to take it easy with the move!!!:hugs:

Ok, i feel like the worst mom ever. I set my alarm clock for 3 hours after his last feed and for some reason it didn't go off. I woke up in a scare and realized it had been 4.5 hours! i looked over at the crib and he was still fast asleep! I thought a newborn would not sleep that long???

You're not a bad mom!!! I have done it before, trust me. If he was that hungry he'd let you know. ;) thats how aria informed me that I forgot to set my alarm.

The moby is great but such a pain. I always need the dang instruction book. I used the ring sling today to do laundry but she kept snoring and I couldn't tell if it was just because (she does that a lot) or if her airways were obstructed. Her chin didn't appear to be against her chest but I wasn't sure so once the laundry was done I took her out. Trying to wash breastmilk poop stains from clothing sucks!!!

I think i have cracked corbyn being in his swing.

He looked lost in it so i have taken his newborn head support thing from his car seat and put if in the swing and now we have no screaming and a baby who is a sleep!!

I better go buy another head support x

yay :happydance: go corbyn

Trying to wash breastmilk poop stains from clothing sucks!!!

sunlight, it's amazing! just hang them in direct sunlight (really easy with a january baby i know!) but doesnt matter if its raining etc even leaving overnight is fine as frost enhances the effect. the uv rays sterilise and remove stains, apparently 10 hours uv is the same sterilisation as using an autoclave!!

Don't worry! I panicked about the same exact thing and my pediatrician said as long as they are eating well, gaining weight, and still getting the required ounces and occasional long sleep over night is ok. She actually told me Kenny could have a 4-5 he stretch if he wanted. He just did 4.5 hours Andes now happily suckling at my breast :). The sleep was magical. Kenny seems to do 2.5-3 hours during the day and then gives me a long one at night... Woohoo

As for the baby slings... I LOVE the Baby K'Tan. They don't have it at babies r us, but they have it at Buy Buy Baby. It's so easy to put on. Google moby vs k'tan and watch the video on you tube of two women putting on the two slings. :)

We got a load of vouchers for Christmas so we splashed out on our baby sling and bought the Close Caboo carrier

https://www.closeparent.com/Default...roductName,ProductName&Level=1&ProductID=5691

I love it so far and Josh is so snug in it. It's pretty simple to put on once you get the hang of it and I like that it distributes the weight across your shoulders. I often walk a couple of miles into the nearest town and I figured one of the single-shoulder ones might give me back ache. The only thing I think might be a bit annoying is that you have to switch the straps over so that you can breast feed on the opposite side. At the moment I'm only using it in carrier mode so it's all good.

I actually looked at the k'tan, and the only reason I didn't get it was because it wouldn't be able to be used by hubby and me unless we got two. :(

So somehow I ended up with a ton of carriers. I have two Bjorns that I never use, an osh kosh I also never use, mei tei that my sister made me and I love, a ring sling from BBB and a moby wrap my sister lent to me. :haha: Chris is like umm do we need ALL of these? Yes, yes we do.

;)

Hahahah yeah I know what you mean! I use the k'tan and DH uses the Ergo with the infant insert

Ladies I'm 9 days postpartum and I thought I was supposed to be done with the bright red bleeding by now and the clots. I barely have any blood on my pads but everytime I pee there is a small clot (dime sized) in the toilet. And then a bit of bright red blood when I pat dry.

My doctor told me last week to be concerned if I had enough bleeding to soak a pad in an hour (I am not even close) or clots ths size of a gold ball. So I don't have either if those things but I really thought I wouldn't have clots anymore.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

My bleeding was red for two weeks. My clots stopped within a few days. Then at like the two week mark my bleeding began to get brown and lighter and I thought YAY I AM ALMOST DONE. I passed a really big clot and my bleeding got red and slightly heavier again out of nowhere. It wasn't golf ball sized but it was close. I wasn't bleeding through pads that fast so I kept an eye on it and put up my feet for a day and I was back to lighter, brown discharge in a day. It was weird. :/ I'm still very lightly having discharge now. Ick.

That being said, I probably should have called my doctor seeing how big the clot was, in hindsight, but I assume I'm fine haha by now.

To me, what you're having sounds normal and in line with what I had. But that's not to say I was normal. I was just stubborn haha. Did you doctor tell you it shouldn't be red for this long? I can't even remember what my doctor said tbh haha.

Joker, i bleed on and off for 8 weeks, but i would say it was about 2 and a half weeks of red blood like that with DS. Were you anemic, at all? That can also contribute greatly. but some women just bleed more than others. ...Is your milk supply good? It doesn't sound like retained placenta to me, because your supply would be horrendous and you would likely have cramping (beyond the normal PP cramps) and/or fever.

With Elliot, i am done bleeding already....i was severely anemic with Isaiah, and i think thats why i bled for so long. This time i have very good iron levels and we also waited to cut the cord until it was done pulsing and the placenta was delivered. If you clamp/cut the cord prior to it being 100% done, you will likely bleed more PP because the blood that would have gone to the baby goes back up into the placental/uteri area thus you bleed that left over out.

Anyone's baby getting loads of wet diapers and not any poopy diapers?
Elliot gets 8-10 wet diapers, but he has not #2ed for 2 days now...i now in the early days poohs are highly important. Its not until after a couple of months that its not a concern to go without them...im just trying to keep an eye on everything with the IGT and all. We usually have to supplement 1/2-1oz a few feeds per day...which im fine with because with DS1 we were supplementing 24oz per day...so IGT has def improved with pregnancy and getting the breast tissue growth that comes with that....but im not sure about his lack of poops

Aria used to have a lot of 'wet farts' and then one big poopy diaper around 1-2 weeks. Then at a month, she started making bigger poops every diaper change. She's a poo-machine now.

I have a question, and it's pretty gross... but I have to ask because this is uncharted territory for me. It's a TMI, for real, haha.

All through pregnancy I was very regular, never suffering constipation. I've always been a multiple-times-a-day-er, and that continued through pregnancy. Since giving birth, I've suffered constipation. I go a week of being slightly regular (once-a-day) and then will go for days without having to go. When I finally do go, there's blood in the toilet. I don't have pain, though - which I assumed if I had a hemorrhoid, I'd be in pain? I do strain sometimes and it'll be difficult to go, but then I do and there will be no pain, but blood accompanying.

Is this... normal? I've tried google and well, let's just say that gave some scary results, lol. I just want to know if I should call my doctor, or if this is something somewhat typical to post-partum, accompanying constipation.

ETA// I do drink tons of fluids during the day - mostly water, a little Gatorade or juice on occasion just for something different. But I drink at least 80 ounces a day. I haven't switched prenatals from the ones I took all through pregnancy. My diet is relatively similar to my pre- and during-pregnancy diet. I'm figuring the constipation is just normal for post-partum, but the blood was what concerned me. :|

I bled for about eight weeks last time. Overdoing it can also bring it back if you have stopped. Little clots are totally normal.

Jacob is a poop monster! I swear he poops at least ten times a day and soaks through nappies with wee often, too. Probably because he feeds non stop!

Yeah my bleeding is still mostly red at 8 days PP and my midwife keeps asking me if it's turned brown yet. If I go out for a walk I get heavier bleeding for about 24 hours before it eases off again. I can't stand sitting around all the time waiting to heal, especially when the weather is good and DH is off work. I wanna spend time outside with him and Josh :brat:

Josh is filling his nappies constantly. To be honest, I think most of the poo is messy farts but he probably produces 1 or 2 properly dirty nappies per day and they are really wet too. I talked to a breastfeeding specialist in my antenatal classes and I'm sure she said something about how babies will often be producing loads of dirty nappies and then all of a sudden they stop producing any for a few days. She said it was because they go through a growth spurt and their bodies are using all the milk. It's worth checking with your doctor if you're worried though.

Jokerette- Thanks for the info it makes me feel better that your dr. said it was ok. Also as for your bleeding mine is the exact same right now, i bled for a couple weeks after my m/c so i am sure i will bleed for at least that long after having a baby.

Guppy- Are you supplementing with formula? When i was doing that at the beginning ( mixing formula with breast milk ) Mason did not have a poop for a day and a half and i think he only had one because my milk came in and i started him back on breast milk only so it got everything moving.

corbyn poos soooo much its unrealt for a.little person.

After the c section i bled hardly anything for 4 days then nothing till last week but that was a week of a little red blood then the rest brown.

Then some yesterday but nothing today So mines all over the place at the minute
