First Time Mommies Due February 2016 - Anyone Want to Join Me?

Is it just me, or is anybody else anxious/nervous to tell their parents?
We are telling them early because I would like support no matter what might happen. Plus we see mine and FI's family often so it will be hard to hide.
But I still feel scared of what everyone's reaction will be. Which literally makes no sense.
FI and I have been living together and supporting ourselves for 4 year, we both work, FI has great investments for someone his age, we are getting married this year, we plan on buying a house next year. I'd say we're pretty stable and balanced in life right now.
But I'm still worried of others opinions.

I'm excited to tell my parents, but I know my dad will cry and since he was not nice to me during my childhood (he & my mom have since divorced and he's matured some), that is always awkward. I'm more excited to tell the in-laws because they have a grandbaby in New Mexico already (we're all in Wisconsin). I think MIL will be very excited to have a baby near home. We have also been getting the dreaded "So when is it your turn?" for a while now; DH comes from a big farming family where it's expected.

My first appointment is June 30. I'm very excited, but conflicted about telling everyone on Father's Day weekend. We would get a clean shot with each of our families together (mine on Saturday, his on Sunday), but I have a strong fear of miscarriage. So, ladies, what do you think? Tell or wait?

AFM symptoms subside a lot when I'm well-hydrated (except peeing of course). Haven't had too much cramping in about a week, and sore breasts come and go. Hungry a lot- knock on wood, still no morning sickness!

Jules - Well I had to keep the appt with that nurse since they are so booked up. But maybe she'll be ok and just isn't good with the ttc part or abnormal cycles. DH and I are just not going to let her blow off any of our questions or concerns. It'll be ok.

Thexfadingpat - I'm mostly excited to tell our parents. For years we've been getting those comments about when it's our turn. I think they're going to be like "Finally!" DH is worried that no one will be surprised and we'll just have half-hearted reactions. But I really think they'll be surprised since it's been such a long time coming so it's not like they knew we were trying. Even if it's not the perfect reaction you're hoping for at first, it'll still be a relief to have it out there and it sounds like you'll have lots of support :hugs:.

Dustergrl - I think it's ok to tell immediate family and keep it a secret from everyone else. DH and I didn't want to tell the families that first week of finding out in case it didn't stick, but now that I'll be nearly 7 weeks by Sunday and it feels like things are progressing I think it's a good time. Plus I'll be so relieved not to tell little white lies to avoid things I shouldn't or am not comfortable doing while pregnant. And if something bad happens later, it'll be nice to have the support from them instead of going through it just DH and I. But I am pretty close with my side of the family at least, and his side is great too. I guess it depends on your relationship.

Afm - I had lots of mild cramping yesterday afternoon/evening and continuing to this morning. It feels like my uterus is stretching and growing, and I can't suck my stomach in. I guess by 7 weeks the uterus will be twice its normal size so it seems to be growing right on schedule!

Ksquared- That's OK. Just makebsire to make it known if she isn't being helpful...I am sure it will be fine though.

I'm not worried about telling family. I am the youngest in my family and my hubby is an only child so they see us as kids when I will be 28 and he will be 34 this year. I figure if they have an issue then that's their problem. The only person I am nervous to tell is my good friend that has fertility issues. She has been through 3 IVF treatments and a few IUI cycles. They are going out of country in September for their last IVF with a donor embryo. When I told her about my treatments, she wasn't very supportive and hasn't even asked how everything went. I know its because she was nervous I would get pregnant before her...and I did. We agreed not to tell anyone until my first u\s, especially because of the low numbers, but I just want to share with everyone and get excited.

AFM: I had my bloods drawn again and they doubled so I can breathe a little. They are still low at about 70 at 16dpo. They think I must have just implanted late. I go again Friday then I'm on vacation all next week so I'm going to be a nervous wreck. Tests are getting darker and my symptoms are still there so I think it's going to be OK. :)

Hi ladies! Sorry I haven't been posting on this thread as much. It's gotten so quiet on the boards.

Told our families yesterday! My Mom had the best and happiest reaction, and my Dad too. And my sister said she got goosebumps and everyone was so excited and happy and surprised. I'm so happy the secret is out. And my mom told me it took her two years before she got pregnant the first time and had my older brother. And her and my sister both said 11 months wasn't bad at all, and told me all of these examples of people who have been trying for years before it happened. I guess you don't get that side of the story unless you're close with the person. Facebook announcements always make it look so easy for everyone else. So I'm feeling pretty good :).

2 weeks from today for my first ultrasound! As far as symptoms, still about the same though I felt slightly nauseous this morning, and yesterday had some dizziness and felt a little shaky. But it could have been because of having such an emotional and happy day (though I was also stressed waiting for the right moment with both families). My sister said she didn't have strong symptoms until after her first appointment, which would have been at least 8 weeks.

How are you ladies doing? Hoping we can get this board active again for us first-timers!

:cloud9:

We've told most of our families as well.
My Mom was so excited she started crying. And she was very talkative. Already asked us about our plans regarding finding out the gender, possible names, birth plans, etc. Told me that both her pregnancies and births with me and my sister were good for her. She barely had symptoms and had both med-free births- so crossing my fingers that I follow in her paths.
My Dad was very excited as well. He doesn't show emotions much in person, but afterwards he sent me a text message saying how it was the best fathers day ever getting news like that.
FI's Mom, Dad and sister seemed excited, but they honestly didn't say much. His Dad had a grin on his face for most of the night afterwards. But his Mom was extremely quiet. I think they're just shocked.

Hi all,

May I join you? I had 5day FET transfer on June 5th and got my BFP on June 10th. Betas good so now waiting for my first ultrasound on July 2.

This would be my first! Due approximately February 20th, 2016

Thexfadingpat - Aww, the reaction from your mom is so cute! And your Dad sounds so sweet - it's hard for guys to show emotion sometimes. My dad is the same but he did get teary :). I hope you follow in your mon's footsteps too and have easy pregnancy and labor! I feel the same about my DH's family. They were obviously happy but kind of caught by surprise and we were also out in public. Maybe they would have been more visibly excited if we were at their house.

Welcome, panda! I'm glad your betas are progressing well. Just a little over a week for your u/s - lucky! How are you feeling?

Hi ksquared,

I am doing well. Just lots of twinges and occasionally soreness in the pelvis and sore nips and heaviness most of the time, but I do wake up sometimes and the breast soreness has mostly gone away so I'll get nervous . . . . and then it's usually back by mid-day.

I am having trouble sleeping comfortably and I wake up a lot. Wondering if that's just because I'm a stomach sleeper and now I have to sleep on my side (doctors orders even this early).

New thing started today . . . excess saliva and slightly metallic taste. Any of you have that yet? I'm worried it's a precursor to morning sickness. I am 5 weeks and 1 day today.

We told our close family, but our first IVF we had a BFP that I lost very obviously and suddenly at only 4weeks and 2 days. Glad to have gotten past that point already this time and I had surgery to fix a hydrosalpinx so supposedly much less chance of problem.

Still, it's nerve wracking this early when you've had a loss before so I think our families are cautiously happy for us. Excited to "meet" women who are on a similar pregnancy schedule.

Ksquared- Awwww! I am so happy your family was so excited! :) I hope the next 2 weeks go fast so you can see your little bean. :)

Thexfadingpat- So happy your announcement went great as well! How exciting it is for everyone to know the good news! :)

Panda- We are around the same time and my symptoms are almost the same, especially the side sleeping...its so uncomfortable. I did get a body pillow so that helps a little. I hope it gets better!

AFM: I have had some nausea on and off all day. Blech. I am not minding having symptoms because it helps remind me that there is something growing in there. :) I go in for my last bloods tomorrow..I am hoping all is well. If so I have my prenatal appt. next week.

Jules,

Good luck on your bloods tomorrow. Nice to get that part finished. I only had 2 betas but waiting for results those days was stressful.

What kind of body pillow did you get? I was looking at them online, but there are so many options I gave up trying to figure it out.

Panda fan - I feel about the same as you still at 7 weeks. Usually don't feel many symptoms, but some twinges and AF-like cramps here and there, some boob stuff, sometimes a heightened sense of smell, and definitely the weird sleep issues. But I don't have the metallic taste, though I think it's common. I'm still waiting for the nausea to kick in. I'm sorry to hear about your former MC, but congrats that you've made it past that point and your little bean is hanging on! My friend who is two months ahead of me recommended a body pillow. I'll ask her the name.

Jules - Thank you! I keep thinking about my mom's reaction and smiling :). Sorry the nausea is a little rough for you but I'm also a little jealous! Weirdly enough, haha. At least my sister said hers kicked it after 8 weeks and I did have some very slight queasiness yesterday. Today I feel pretty normal.

Oh I'm also going for a long power walk after work today to get back into working out. I used to run 6 miles 2-3x per week but I've been too nervous, even though plenty of people run their entire pregnancy. I think 6 miles is too much. Maybe I'll work up to adding some light jogging for a little bit after I go in for my appointment.

My numbers are looking great! It was 1220 so it is more than doubling. My doctor said I don't have to do any more quantitative tests since its been consistent. Yay! My pre-natal appt is on Monday. :)

Ksquared- just do what your comfortable with. If your at least doing some exercise you can always increase as you can.

Panda- I just got a cheap normal body pillow from Walmart. They have nice ones that are specifically for Pregnancy, just more expensive.

so just checking . . . when/what is your next appts?

I think I saw

June 30 - dustergirl, are they doing ultrasound
July 2 - me . . . first ultrasound at about 6.5 weeks
July 6 - ksquared, first ultrasound?
July 21 - thexfadingpat, first ultrasound? that's so long!

I keep freaking out that they won't see anything in there even though all symptoms are good and thankfully no spotting so nothing like that to make me nervous. I've just been through so much to get pregnant, it hardly seems real yet :)

Actually won't even be an ultrasound yet. Just my first midwife appoint, so all paperwork I assume.

My pre-natal appt is the 29th of June. Not sure what it includes though. Lol

Yep, I'm on July 6 for first appointment and ultrasound. :) I'm right there with you on being nervous they won't see anything in there! I have only very mild symptoms at 7 weeks so it's weird. Though if I press on my uterus area lightly it feels firm, so I guess Baby is taking it easy on me with the nausea. At least for now.

Jules - Woohoo! Glad your numbers are progressing nicely. I would think they'd try an ultrasound at your prenatal, but I've never been to one so honestly o have no idea. I did get a huge questionnaire in the mail so I assume we'll talk about all of that and maybe do some blood and urine tests?

I have no clue what actually happens, but I'm excited! It's feeling more and more real!

From what I've gathered I'm expecting the first appointment to include urine/blood tests, height/weight, blood pressure, and a long questionnaire about medical history.
I've very excited for it too.
This next month can't go by fast enough. :)
