First Time Mommies Due February 2016 - Anyone Want to Join Me?

Hi ladies,
You are almost done, you will have your baby in your arms very soon.
I can not wait for anouncements and baby photos and your birth stories.

I want you to research really well about vaccines.
TODAY we give too many shots in a short period of time. Babies grow super fast, I am afraid things can go wrong.

This may be a political article but it seems Donald Trump is right.

Panda I feel like I am having the same thing! Just feels like intense BH and it's hurting my low back. Aren't any other symptoms though, so I think it must be false labor

duster, yay on the test results! Arm is ok, getting carpal tunnel + brachial tunnel (basically all my fingers just tingle really bad) at night. The worst is in the ring finger. Have got the MW's ok to drink some wine before bed to help me doze off :haha: not a far move, same town, and we really didn't have that much stuff. Just really feeling the limitations of third trimester pregnancy. Your crib sounds amazing! I really dig custom antique things like that.
I think I will go early but doesn't every woman hope for that? Zodi has been head down and popping in and out of engagement for quite some time, I would think they've had enough practice come 39 weeks

jules, will definitely post a picture if I ever get it done! Arm is ok like I said earlier just some tingles at night. Stay safe in the snow out there, sounds crazy. Have only been trapped in one snowstorm up here in WA and it was totally not fun.

AFM: Feeling so tired! Just achey and sleepy, was having some flu like symptoms yesterday but not today. Hopefully getting more progress done on Zodi's blanket

Jules: wow, that's a crazy lot of snow! Have things settled down- has everything pretty much been cleared out?

Daisy: hope you're making good progress on the blanket! I have a cross-stitch that I have done a lot of but need to keep plugging away at it if I want it done by the time Bip comes.

AFM: had my 38-week appointment today. No more dilated/effaced than last week. Boo. But Bip has definitely dropped and I am SUPER SORE. Hopefully soon, ladies!

Daisy- I hope your feeling better. I know I got hit hard with the exhaustion the past few days. Just keep telling yourself you are almost there! :)

Duster- Surprisingly they had everything cleared out fast. It snowed until the evening on Saturday and the main roads were clear by Sunday afternoon. For being in a small town they are really on top of cleaning up. I'm glad that your appt. went well. I wouldn't think too much into the fact you aren't dilated more, bip could still make their appearance sooner than you think. :) My one friend wasn't dilated at all then had a 3 hour labor a week early.

AFM: I had my weekly appt. today. She said baby looks good, but she really wants to keep an eye on my blood pressure as it was a bit high. I have to do some blood work my next visit just to check it over. She said I have no protein in my urine and I am not really having symptoms which is good sign.

I am soooo ready to hit the point that I have everything finished that I can at work and home so I can just relax and just wait it out.

Hi Ladies,

Wow, haven't been here a couple of days and it looks so much to catch up!!

Hope all of you dealing with snow are safe and sound and hope things get cleared up soon!

Jules:
sorry your blood pressure is a little high. Try to drink more water and eat less salt, hope numbers go down next week.

Duster:
you are 1 week ahead of me, but I'm having Ben 1 week early, so we might have our babies more or less together!!! :happydance:

Daisy:
hope you are feeling better!! I was exhausted last week, this week I had trouble sleeping for 2 nights, then I literally passed out these last 2 nights. Feeling good today!

Panda:
How are you feeling? Hope the false labor pains eased a bit. How was your appt and what did the dr say?

Char:
Welcome!!!! Hope all is alright with you and little girl!
I'm having a boy, but I know that if was a girl, I would've gone mad pink too!

AFM:
next week is my last week at work, then I go on maternity and I am literally counting the hours!
Next Wed is my last appt before the C-Section, this is CRAZY!!!
Duster, even though I'm having a C-Section 1 week before, I'm still afraid he will come before that!!! I have my family coming from Brazil on Monday, 2 days before the C-Section, so I'm just praying I can actually go pick them up at the airport
Baby things were all washed this past weekend, 2 Ikea furniture finally built, so I think we are almost there. I have to return some items we got from the baby shower, and have some minor things to buy, and we should be pretty much set!

Hard to put my arms around the fact we finally did it, ladies!! Last couple of weeks and we all will meet our precious little ones and our lives will be changed forever!! :happydance:

Ladies thank you I am feeling "better" (as good as one can at 35 weeks), today. Still getting carpal tunnel symptoms at night but dealing with it.

Duster, good to hear your appointment went well. I'm sure things will move along just fine within the next few weeks.

Jules, also glad your appointment went well. As for BP like PP said try to drink more water. Good thing all the snow has been cleared out of your area. It's been unseasonably warm the past two days here (55 F/ 12 C) and storming like crazy! It's brought the cat inside for the day which is nice to bond with the little bean while we can have some alone time still.

Pri sounds like you've got your hands full! Hope you get some time to relax before all the baby-madness starts flooding in. But you're right, we are so close to the moments that are going to redefine us forever! So amazing and monumental, but also abstract and elusive in a way.

AFM: Am feeling better. My sympathies to all you working preggo-mamas, I have been SAH since the beginning (just the way I want it tbh). Even though I am sleeping better I still feel just exhausted! Last night OH did a perineal massage and he said my cervix looked a lot closer to the front of my vagina than before, but was still closed. Have also had some brown looking discharge and cramping. Start of something? who knows

Hi Dov,

Thanks for your well wishes!

I understand your concern and respect your decision as I know it is very important to you to live a natural chemical free life, but I have to disagree about vaccines. The science behind them is very solid and they are very safe. That is not to say some of the newer vaccines are the same as they are not time teste (like the HPV vaccine for girls I am skeptical of as it's so new and doesn't have a lot of study behind it), but the vaccines babies get are time tested. Be careful because a lot of studies showing vaccines cause problems have been completely debunked. Again, I respect anyone's decisions, but make sure you read up a lot on both sides of the issue. Of course putting ANYTHING into the body has risks, but the consequences of not vaccinating are far worse than the potential side effects. I don't know about spreading them out, but I'm sure as long as it's done with a doctor guiding you that's probably fine.

Sorry if I don't respond yet to everyone, I scanned, but I haven't completely caught up. I promise to read more carefully soon!

Jules: Can't believe you got 31 inches! So weird how many places got hit hard and RI where I am only 5 inches. So backwards from the usual patterns! Sorry to hear about the BP. Hope it goes back down. Sounds like it was just a little bit elevated?

Pri: So soon for your scheduled C!!! You've been crazy busy! Sounds like you are ready to go! Sorry I didn't get a chance to post my hospital bag list. Did you pack yet? I just found a list online that I followed. My hospital did recommend packing a small labor bag and then a separate overnight bag just to make it easier to have the things you want for labor (or in your case the C-section) on hand. Are you going to be awake with just the epidural/saddle block? Might want your own comfy non-skid socks or slippers and a "focus" item like a stuffed animal or an ultrasound pic to look at when you are getting ready etc. and I read for C-sections to have soft nightgowns as even yoga pants can irritate.

Daisy: Hope the arms/wrists feel better :( A lot of girls in my prenatal yoga have that as well and they just do light stretches and wear the wrist guards, but def not fun.

Duster: Sorry you are super-sore from the drop! That's what's going on with me, too.

Sorry this is long, but wanted to explain in case anyone else experiences this:

So I had really bad bad cramping and back pain on Sat and Sun nights that slowly built up worse and worse til it was getting unbearable and I was worried. It also seemed to make the BH contractions suddenly strong enough for me to feel them when I have barely noticed them at all before. I think it might have been that I was tensing from the hip and back pain and that made the false labor also tighter.

Fortunately, I kind of felt that is was more ligaments/muscular so I didn't freak out too much. I knew I wasn't in labor yet, but I WAS afraid it might turn into early labor. I decided not to call doc unless there were further signs. Hubby got me into a hot bath which finally helped enough that I could relax and sleep. Monday morning I work up and things were much much better so I didn't end up calling in. Now I am only minorly sore, but I still get very sore if I sit at desk or stand too long.

I saw doc today and she confirmed my suspicions that it was radiating pain from the baby dropping into the pelvis. She checked cervix and said he's def starting to engage, but cervix has just started shortening and hasn't progressed much. No dilation yet. She reassure me that the hips were just adjusting and loosening and that was a good sign that baby was able to get head into pelvis.

Had a prenatal massage yesterday and it was so worth it as it really really helped with the pain and I feel a hundred times better overall. Sleeping is still the hardest as hips feel so loose and sore, but nowhere near as bad as it was. Duster, if it gets bad enough, I highly recommended going for a prenatal massage with someone who is specialized as it really helped me A LOT!

panda, I agree that vaccines are safe but I personally am selective about it. Some don't seem as necessary and ones like the HPV one I wish more research was done before my mother insisted I get it done because she had cervical cancer. no adverse affects just yet so that's good I suppose.
It sounds like things are moving along for you! You're getting really close to D-Day hopefully. i have experienced just what you've described even with the radiating back pain. But eventually stopped and didn't realllly feel like labor although the cramping and feeling Zodi in my pelvis can be unsettling. My cervix seems to be shortening too
I agree about prenatal massage, always leaves me feeling nice and relaxed
GL and I hope things progress!

Daisy, totally agree about being selective. Time-tested anything medical is always the best I think and then the newer stuff you have to make tough decisions.

How are your wrists? Does anything help or is it just a matter of avoiding doing too much with them?

I have a new crazy pre-labor symptom . . . woke up at 3am soaked with a night sweat. UGH! So uncomfortable and not able to get back to sleep. Called doc just to make sure I wasn't having an infection or something (no fever tho), but she said "yup, just hormones fluctuating as you get close to labor"

She also said many women get night sweats after they have the baby as hormones readjust in the body. I had never heard that before so fair warning now I guess.

They are ok... Definitely need to take time off crochet so maybe I'll hit sewing next. They are swollen 24/7 and hurt in the metatarsal area pretty bad. It's tough to make a fist or even flex my wrists. But at night they tingle pretty intensely which could be due to water retention as my BP is normal. I was getting night sweats before I got pregnant, and have been on and off even til now. Sorry to hear it's bothersome, maybe just try to wear cotton jammies and a light breathable blanket?

AFM my breast are so sore! Zodi has been very active today and I'm noticing it's harder to sit up straight without feeling something poke my ribs in some way. I also can't stop craving sushi :dohh: Had insomnia last night, really hoping it doesn't start acting up again! That would just be too harsh

Anyone having major pre-labor symptoms? Bloody show or mucous plug loss? Lots of practice contractions? Dilation?

Pri: So excited for you. Only a few more days!

Happy February tomorrow everyone!! Going to be an exciting month!! :happydance:

Well, dilated a fingertip and cervix has shortened quite a bit. Other than that nothing, not too many BH or cramping (but getting more cramps each night). Zodi seems to be squirming a LOT more than usual during their usual sleep/wake times and I am feeling pressure down low more and get a constant tingly sensation whenever I walk around. Hmmm.......

panda how are your night sweats? Woke up drenched last night a few times myself....

Really nothing here as far as symptoms. Some back pain around 7 at night, and some cramping, but no show or real contractions as far as I can tell.

39 weeks tomorrow. I am so uncomfortable, and just ready to be done. If I don't go into labor before then, Friday will be my last day of work. However, DH seems to think tomorrow is the day. I am betting on going into labor on Tuesday; we are supposed to get a pretty big storm Tuesday into Wednesday but they still aren't sure if it will be more rain or snow. It seems to be that women go into labor with weather changes.

Hope you ladies are all holding up.

We are officially February mommies!!!!!
Can't believe our month finally arrved!!!!

Duster:
Crazy that you will be 39 tomorrow!
If you actually go into labor tomorrow, you will be the first one from our group! So exciting!! :happydance:
I hear you on being uncomfortable, hope it can happen for you soon!

Daisy:
sorry about your hands still bothering you.. as Panda said, try to stretch and massage them. I feel Ben squirming a lot too.... I guess space is VERY tight!

Panda:
I still don't have many symptoms. The biggest I guess, I've been feeling very frequent, I guess would be the BH, but it is a little different than what is described. I feel as my belly muscle below my belly button is "jumping" and I can actually see the belly jump up. But I dont feel the muscles contract per say, just jump. And it jumps for for a little while and then it stops.
How is your night sweats? And are you feeling better?
Thanks for the list!!! :)

AFM: So I finally packed!!!! Only for Ben and I. Hubby will pack his this week lol. Still pending to add toiletries, but I'm mostly done!
We also went to return some items we got, and purchased some we still needed.
Really feeling Ben moving a lot, feeling pressure down there and woke up today as if someone had hit me overnight! Right side of my back really bothering me!
My last day at work is this Friday, together with Duster, if she lasts that long!!!!

Oh, and finally got my surprise baby shower at work this past Friday!! :happydance:
It was super cute and I got some cash :)

Just read the other February Mommies chat and a lot of babies were born in January already!!

glad we all are still here :) :) :)

panda- I have been getting the night sweats too! My poor hubby has been sleeping with long johns and a big blanket because I have had to turn the heat in our room way down just to feel somewhat comfortable. I asked my doctor and she said its just fluctuating hormones.

Daisy- Could be her dropping a bit and from moving around a lot Zodi is pressing on your cervix. Good sign that they are getting in position! :)

Duster- I can't believe you are just a week away from your dd! I am guessing you will probably be the first in our group. :) I hope you have a good last week at work if baby doesn't come first.

Pri- So nice of your co-workers to do something for you. :) I hope you have a great last week as well!

AFM- Emma's bag is packed and the car seat is all set up. My bag is basically packed. I have toiletries for me and hubby, nightgown, robe, cheap big undies, slippers, slipper socks, and a nursing bra so far. I have to get nipple cream/pads and a comfy coming home outfit to add. I will add my makeup and brush for last since I use them everyday. I got a shirt, socks, pajamas, and undershirt for hubby plus will throw in some snacks. The hospital provides a lot and Target is literally next door so I tried not to over pack.

Other than that we are just finishing up our room and I am trying to wrap up at work so I can just ride it out til I am done or she gets here. So exciting!

Happy February everyone!
We are all going to be mommies this month. It hasn't sunk in yet.

On Wednesday I'll be 38 weeks, and he can literally come anytime now. (Really hoping he comes early- I'm way too anxious to meet him). But I haven't had any signs yet, minus that I'm starting to get more pressure low down. It's kind of disappointing. I want to experience all of the signs of appending labor so that I know my body is preparing. :nope:

the day before a birth I had many bowel movements and 15 hours before baby arrived I had pink discharge.
I had night sweats after the birth

Happy due month!

I've been having a lot of practice contractions all day! I'm getting soooo impatient xxx
