First Time Mommies Due February 2016 - Anyone Want to Join Me?

Pri- So glad everything went well at the doctors and everything is all set for next week! I can't wait to see what he looks like! :)

Panda- Dang laundry! lol I think steps/walking definitely caused them, maybe once we get super close we should just do a bunch of laundry instead of eating a whole pineapple.:haha:

Duster- He is just so handsome! :) Thank you for some of the info. Us all being first time momma's, it is definitely nice to know what to expect. I'm planning on breastfeeding as well, I got some nipple cream but am just expecting the pain. When do you guys get to go home?

AFM: Still losing plug, but nothing else is going on. Today I have an ultrasound, regular prenatal appt., and they are having me do some bloodwork because my blood pressure was a bit high last week.

Duster:

what a lovely picture!!! He is soo cute :cloud9:
And yes, thanks for the info!!!!
I'm planning to BF and I hope all goes well.
Did you get a consultation with a lactation consultant?

Panda:
yes, I think a big basket of laundry plus the up and down the stairs will not help with the pain, but will probably speed up the process!!!

Jules:
your day should be coming very soon, if you are already losing your plug!
Did you get to take the maternity pics last weekend?
Hope all goes well on your appt today and that your blood pressure is back to normal!

Pri, good luck at your c-section next week! You might be the next one to go in our group :) But who knows jules is losing plug so she might be coming up here quick too!

Duster, thanks for all the advice! Definitely good to know especially about the feeling like everything is going to fall out of you :haha: never heard that one before and I'm sure it's a totally accurate description!

Panda try to take it easy there lady! No need to overdo it this close to D-Day

Jules- we get to go home today! We also have our first pediatrics appointment tomorrow. :) Good luck with losing your plug; I didn't take note of losing mine but my discharge was pretty thick up until labor, and often came out with bowel movements. The discharge did change a lot right with active labor- blood streaked and a loooot thinner. Maybe TMI but good to know. I think it was the actual sign that told me this really was likely labor.

Pri- yes, I did get a consultation. He is a good latcher and sucker, but he and I need to work at getting him to keep his bottom lip curled out. She is coming back today so I can talk to her more about that.

Daisy- yeah, when I got up to pee the first time it was very much an "oh my..." feeling. The more Kegels I do, the better it seems to be doing.

AFM we did professional newborn photos by a photographer that comes in to the hospital. They will be gorgeous; I will definitely share once we get them!!!

my nipple pain was horrible for weeks, sharp, stabing, the worst one when he started feeding. My nipple even cracked and bled.
I put linolin cream after each feeding. The pain will go away, I promise and you will enjoy breastfeeding soooo much. It is soooo worthy the sacrifice, the patients and pain......
he drank for 20min each breast every 2 hours day and night

my midwive came over for a check ups every day. Pediatrician came to our home for a second check up too

I am losing bits of my plug! I hope baby can stay in there 6 more days at least

Nothing more for me. Had 36 week appt, no cervical check, everything is looking good though. Have not seen any more of my plug and the cramps I was having stopped. I think it has to do with when I do the perineal massage because OH andI are not good about getting it done every day, just most days.

 Technically I could be waiting another 5 weeks but I don't think that will be the case

Nothing new for me either...
Yesterday was my last day at work, which is great!!!
Happy to be done!!!

This weekend is the last cleaning / organizing weekend for us.
My family arrives on Monday, Tuesday I have to go the hospital for pre registration and some blood work and Wednesday is our big day!!!!

Duster,
How is BF for you now?
I bought those silicone nipples so baby actually sucks on them instead of direct on us. Have u tried them?
Or you 2 already got a hang of it???
:winkwink:

Nothing new here. Still losing plug, but my doctor said that it could still be a week or 2. My appt. was good. No weight gain, blood pressure was normal, and she said that Emma's hb indicates that its fully matured. :) I was supposed to have an ultrasound, but it got switched to Monday.

Pri- I did get the pics done. :) I'm excited to see how they turn out.
Don't forget to take some time to relax in all that going on in the next few days! :)

Nothing really new with me.
I've been using my birth ball more and started using evening primrose oil. And I've been getting more braxton hicks and pressure. My hips are starting to really hurt now too. So I'm hoping it all amounts to something soon.

I'm so excited for all of you!!!

Pri- my production is suuuuuper low; my milk hasn't come in yet and we are on day 4. I'm sore and discouraged, to be honest. However, I will keep trying. For now, though, I'm letting Dorian eat what he wants, pumping the miniscule amounts left to try to boost production, and supplementing with formula. We had his first wellness exam Friday, and he was down to 7 lb 2 oz from 7, 10 at discharge. Today he was down to 7 so we gotta get that weight back up. Luckily, though, his bilirubin numbers are low so he is healthy- just gotta shove in the calories!!!

Hi ladies, it's been a hectic few days - just want to share our little Ada arrived 1/31 10:35pm! She did not want to wait for February!

Labor process was so much smoother than I anticipated, thanks to epidural!

I felt some irregular contractions the night before, but not strong enough to stop me from going out to dinner and do some shopping at target.

I lost some mucus plug the morning of 1/30, and the some more 1/31 3am, when I was woken up by a contraction. The contractions were strong enough to wake me, but I managed to sneak in some sleep time in between.

By 9am, contractions became more regular and pretty intense. So DH started to finish packing for hospital, while coaching me through breathing during contractions.

Around 1:30pm, my contractions were 1min long 5min apart, so we head to hospital. Upon examination, I was at 2.5cm and 50%. Since my contractions were pretty regular, they sent us walking within the hospital campus for 2 hrs. It was pretty difficult to walk, and I was exhausted due to lack of sleep, so we took many breaks (even 3min naps). Before 2hrs was up, my water broke and nurse admitted me.

I had planned to hold off epidural until 5cm+ since I heard it would slow the dilation process. But when nurse told me I was at 3.5-4cm, while the pain is so strong that I couldn't talk, I knew I needed the epidural.

After I got epidural, I felt no pain and got some sleep in. They also gave me pitocin to increase/regulate contractions (since my water broke and epidural slowed contractions). Before they had dr. come and check my progress, I even got some clear chicken broth and juice to drink.

Dr. came around 9pm and announced that I was at 9.5-10cm and he expect the baby to come before 11pm.

The whole pushing process was just over 1hr - the sleep really helped.

Turns out, we really didn't need to pack nearly as much stuff as we did. Hospital had every thing, and since we only get two nights, and she was born at night time, we didn't even bother showering at the hospital. (I am at North California, might be different for your area.)

At home, breast feeding is definitely the hardest part. My little one keeps on wanting more, but her latch is still not very good, causing a lot of soreness and blisters on the nipples. HAVE SOME NIPPLE CREAM READY!

Her weight also dropped quite a bit at day 3 check up and we were asked to supplement with formula. Luckily my milk came that day and she has since gained some weight back.

Good luck everyone!!!

CA- congratulations! It seems like some of the problems you are having are the same ones I'm having with Dorian. Glad to know I'm not alone. His latch is terrible but I am now trying to bottle feed breast milk in the same position I want him to latch in, and it seems to be working. Still, I plan to see a LC tomorrow or Tuesday. Glad to know things are going better for you.

We took Dorian in for another weight check this morning and he is up to 7,4 now! Headed in the right direction!

Cax3: congrats!! Thank you and Duster for the info on your labor and breastfeeding. It helps to know what to expect.

Pri: very excited for Wed!!

AFM: Nothing new. Very occasional BH still. Really been exhausted this week. Anyone else??? Im worried maybe iron is low? BH are noticeable only when I am up and about so I may try to walk a little more this week to get things moving. Obgyn is recommending doing a cervix massage to strip membranes at my Thurs appt but I'm not sure if I want to wait another week to see if I go without any intervention. We are having a snowstorm tomorrow so we'll see what happens.

duster- I'm glad his weight is in the right direction. Sending good thoughts that things start to feel better with breastfeeding.

CA- Congrats!!! I'm glad everything went well! :)

Panda- I am absolutely exhausted. I feel like a zombie. lol Pretty soon we will be a whole different tired so I am a little glad I have some time to get used to it. Good luck with your snowstorm and your appt!! :)

AFM: We had out last ultrasound today. Baby girl has chunky cheeks and the guestimate weight is 7 pounds 1 oz. :) I spent allll weekend cleaning and organizing. I am pretty sore from moving around so much, but I feel better it's all done now. Now she just come whenever she wants! lol

CA congrats on your baby girl!

Just having a moan here.... Woke at 3 AM with horrible CTS which I needed to hop in the bath for ASAP.... Been having an awful headache since before then and even had MS when I woke up after going to sleep again. Have been feeling weird and anxious the past few days.

I hope being this miserable gives way to something soon! :dohh:

CA, congrats on your baby Ada. Beautiful name. If I have a girl, I would call her Adele.

duster, do not get discouraged about your milk supply. Baby is getting a superfood colostrum right now. My milk came on the 5th day. Even if he gets formula and your milk, he is a winner:thumbup:
My 13 month breastfeeding milestone.

daisy, I am sorry you are not feeling well. Soon all will be behind, when you hold your baby in your arms.

pandafan, I am sure you are next. I am thinking of you and wishing you all the best.:flower:

Dov: thank you! I'm excited. You know it's been a very long journey.
What have you heard or read about membrane stripping? Not sure I should let doc go ahead or wait another week.

Jules: congrats on feeling ready. Sounds like you got a lot done this weekend! Jealous you had an ultrasound. Haven't seen my babe since 20 weeks! Any pics?

Daisy: I have a headache, too, and also feel super yucky today. I'm guessing headache is from hormone changes. It's not that bad and no swelling or anything so not worried about pre-e as my blood pressure is usually low, but I def hope I feel better before labor. Can't seem to nap and feel too icky to be productive. Lots of snow coming down, but no contractions. Oh well!
