Is follow on milk actually needed / good for baby or is it just another marketing gimmick??

Violet is fast approaching 6 months (how???) and I'm not sure what to make of it?

Thanks x

I never used it for my 4 year old and he's perfectly fine lol I won't be using it for Mailie either who will be 6 months next week.

They say there's more iron and stuff in it so i reckon it's a good thing IMO.
We're on sma hungry baby at the moment and i want to move away from it (especially as we've been weaning since 17 weeks) so rather than switch back to gold im going to move to the follow on milk once he's 6 months old in 3 weeks time.
I think it's personal preference really....as i've read that some switch and some dont.

xxx

Im using it now as i was told its got more nutrients in for when they are weaning.
Dont know how true this is?

I bought follow on to start in a few days and it has TWICE as much iron as regular formula, and has a lot more minerals (mostly) then stage 1 milk.
I don't see why i should deny my child of such and important thing if it's availabe and wont make a difference in ANY way.

I have stage 1 and follow on and ifyou look at vitamins, minerals etc it clearly shows that follow one contains much more per 100ml then regular milk.

I switched because of the added iron in it, as Liss is veggie.

Cheers for your input girls.

Does anyone know whether you can do a straight swap (if using same brand) or whether you'd need to slowly introduce it like you would do if swapping brand?

I reckon a straight swap would be fine.

Lots of iron isn't necessary a good thing. It can cause constipation, and is unnecessary if your LO is eating a wide range of foods.

my HV said its not needed and to just stick with the milk LO has now, think its really personal choice more than anything though x
