well docs told me with low sperm around 12 to 15 mil very slightly lowered motility (barely anything) and slightly lowered morphology we have a 4% chance of conceiving.

If he has count issues there is a chance he will have other issues to, I don't want to be a debbie downer just want you to have accurate info. WHen is his official SA? and are they testing counts, motility and morphology?

Yes, everything. I rather have truth than false wishes, so thank you. With those stats if I am computing correctly then that would take up 10 months and only 40% with the same problem would be pregnant? 20 months 80%....I don't even think that is correct...sigh

Hi everyone I am pretty new to this site. I joined a few days ago because my Hubby and I are ttc. I have been off BC since oct of '07, but my hubby was in Iraq for 12 of those months since. In may I used a first response fertility check and got a positive result. I didn't realize it at the time but in that case positive is NOT good. I did get preggers that same cycle, but MS my 5th week. Recently learning that the positive fertility actually meant that I have a elevated FSH which means My egg supply is low....My question is if anyone on here has or is going through the same thing?? I am only 27 and I am terrified that its going to be impossible for me to have a baby. I see the doctor on Tuesday to get a referral to a fertility doctor so that I can get further testing. Does anyone have any advise or experience in this area with the elevated FSH?

Heya Betty. I have heard someone talking about elevated FSH levels but it was a long time ago and I don't think they're in TTC anymore - ha - maybe they got their :bfp: !

Does anyone else know about this?
If not I'd suggest a sneaky look at the LTTTC section. They're the absolute ORACLE of everything infertile ! but please feel free to join us over here I'd be interested to hear what your doctors say.

AND OMG!!!!

FANTASTIC NEWS - any stick pics to show us?
GO get every stick you can find - ooh - and a CB digi - the holy grail !

Now... Mrs N you're in line for a little surpise too - I second the FRER suggestion from Kelly!

Hello cazd,

I was stalking around and seems like we both have DHs with low sperm count. I have only done the home sperm tests and both were <20 million...so we have to do the official SA soon too. I started on my tests and checks, but my doc is a quack and sloooooooooooowww to do tests. I am depressed at this point-this will be our ninth month of trying (really 11 if you count some of the unprotected months before we lived together and with each other daily) and I don't know how to keep going on. I read like the first 50 pages of your journal-good thing you live in the UK where you can at least have everything paid for though you may have to wait a bit should you need it (hope I am not being naiive). Anyhow, I will keep stalking and hope we all get miracle BFPs soon!

That's lovely that you waded through some of my journal - its mostly verbal diarrhoea!

But that's where we started out - with a home S/A that came up borderline low.
I've just dug out his results:
Total sperm count = 7 mil
rapid progression = 46% (no idea where I got 70% from earlier - soz)
normal morphology = 6%

the FS said that 15% morphology is good and a count of what... 20 million is good? oh - I can't even remember now!

We've been trying for a similar length of time and I'm well and truly sick of it !

So pull up a chair and join us - what tests are you having next?

AND OMG!!!!

promise i will buy a digi either this afternoon or fri and post a pic for you :)

mrs n :test: :D

Wowwwwwww yayyyyyyy!!!! A BFP!! Congratulations wannabeamom!!

cazd, I am going to set up the official SA for Monday I hope. My doc wants me to run around and get my records instead of having her assistants have it faxed over which makes me mad because I am so busy! I think she had blood work and a poss hysterosalpingogram for me next. I did take that home FSH test teice before and that was fine, I know I O, but as for my insides, I need to know if they rotted out after all these years (11 years since last childbirth and 3 years since last preg-from a fiance previous) or are in good working order...going to see what my endo biopsy results were when i go to my next appt, but you know...this low sperm thing makes TTC near hopeless...I am so sad...AF is here, but I am no longer angry, only sad and what if I have a new problem-this will be virtually impossible. I didn't get up to what you are currently trying to do to conceive so clue me in if ya don't mind?

i am now convinced that i have ov'd at the weekend, which puts me at 4dpo today.
if you look at the chart overlay i have made the temps fit in perfectly.

WOOOO YEAH !!! :yipee:
those temps are perfik !
4dpo though - that's ages 'till you can test BOOOOOOOO

As for me - I'm defo in my 2ww - just waiting for my temps to go up to confirm it.

and OH has to eat better, stop drinking and give up coffee. We've got a diet to follow but he's really struggled with it. All I can do is keep nudging and hope that I don't push him too hard.

2 months 'till we find out if its had any effect on his soldiers....

yay for the 2ww, last time I was in a 2ww was April

Ok Cazd and grneyednurse (hahaha I just got your name now while I was trying to find a way to remember how to spell it... green eyed nurse  hahaha I'm a dumb ass)

Down to business, any sperm count lower the 40 mil is considered quite low. 40 mil is like the borderline for doing IUI. Normal morphology is 15% on the krueger scale but I don't think lower morph really affects chances as much as counts. Also motility should be a 50% to be normal or borderline.

My DH had 23 at his second last SA and they said that was bad, not even good enough for IUI. His last SA was 12 mil :( Which is extreme male factor infertility. Once again I don't want to bring anyone down but I am one of those "oracles" from the LTTTC section and this is what the other girls and my fertility clinic doc told us.

O and yay mrs n for the 2ww!!!

and on another note, I got an almost positive opk!!! Which means will get one tomorrow and O on cd16!!!! Shortest cycle ever! Yay clomid.

In the US it is 5 million minimum for IUI I believe and anything under 20 million is considered a "low sperm count" by the WHO, but maybe it is different in Canada...anyway 20 million is low by any means and I doubt he even has that...gotta get that SA...if I weren't so tired to set it all up...gotta work again thur and fri

grneyednurse, we use the WHO here to but I think it depends on the clinic. My clinic told me they would do IUI but that it wasn't worth it. I don't think there is a difference, if one clinic says a higher number is very unlikely then a lower number is even more so. In a lot of cases couples can really only afford IUI and they offer it but I know for a fact that your chances are less then 4% for anything under 40 million sperm. Sorry once again to be so negative but I am just stating it like it is.

 grneyednurse.

Yeah on the ICSI boat, hoping to start this coming cycle or the one after. I SHOULD still get my 2010 baby.... should being the operative word.

Wow, I am sure you will...DH said he doesn't EVER want to do any of that...we will see how desperate I get and if I can talk him in to it later IF it comes to that...I just don't know.....so difficult without any other options now.

Extreme male factor infertility :hissy:
Glad you're our resident oracle though :hugs:
and HOORAH for ov on CD16 - you're nearly 'normal'

My man did a S/a just over a week ago - I've just spoken to the hospital and they're going to see if they can call us back next week with the results :happydance:

as for bloke reluctance.... I don't think we're going to go down the treatment route - we're really pinning our hopes on lifestyle changes and standard meds.
I'd be quite keen to try clomid now...
At first I was a bit worried about the increased risk of cancer - but that's only with long term use - and having a baby reduces your risk of cancer down there so I reckon it'll probably cancel it out! :smug:
