gosh thats alot of poopy nappies:haha: il prob get a mixture as my mums looking out for multipacks of pampers back home and il get the babylove cant hurt to try both:haha:

2 poopy diapers a day on average the first couple of months. 3AM poops sucked! :( The rest was just a lot of pee!

I think it's something like change them every 2-3 hours unless they are poopy. And overnight don't change unless she wakes/needs feeding or whatever.

My SIL also said Babylove, and they are rich, so it wasn't just for the price!! We got one NB and one Mini, but we have reusables so they're just to have on hand :D

will definatly stock up on babylove then, they were recomending them on toytown too so i guess they must be really good

Ugh, stomach ache. I think it's possibly gas or BH. I'd feel like such a ditz going to the doctor for Gas or BH OR not going and it turns out they're real contractions :P. Trying to painkiller trick for now :)

oooh hope its just bh or wind lol, got terrible tummy ache myself feels like period cramps:dohh:

Yay for Babylove products! :) Pretty much everything for Aurora is Babylove with regard to food/hygiene.
Instead of wipes we use these disposable wash cloths: (https://www.dm.de/cms/servlet/segment/de_homepage/babylove/produkte/babypflege/waschen-baden/91580/einmal_waschlappen.html).
We just wet them when needed. 1€ for a pack of 30.

BH for me were very irregular and rare. It felt like my bladder was getting squeezed and I had to pee so badly. So uncomfortable! Hope you're not feeling contractions. If you experience it for a longer period of time I'd give your doctor a call just to be safe. Hope you feel better soon!
Which painkillers are safe during pregnancy, by the way? I thankfully didn't need any my first but I'd be interested.

Whisper, I love your signature! That's so cute! How did you make that?

thank you i made it on my comp with my digital scrapbooking kits and photoshop, love making signatures, havent been able to for a while as been so busy lol

I am trying cloth nappies, and I have a sample of different brands. I think with sposies it is the same though, different brands fit different babies.
Today i was out and about with my mother, went looking for a changing table, as she want to gift it to us. Walked through the entire Ikea, but they didnt have such a great choice, and afterwards we were at two other furniture stores (long walks) till I found one I liked (and oh likes it too, it is a small one with wheels not one of the big and bulky ones.) I also got another pair of maternity pants, my mother didnt want to take me out in tracksuit pants :haha:. Also got all the stuff from my sister to look through, and after that, we had something to eat and I went off to a nursing course that is offered in the practice of my gyn (one of the assistants there is also a examined breastfeeding consultant.) I met my oh outside his work for a break, and he suggested to get some pies for the English shop for dinner, (The only place in hamburg you can get pies :haha:, and after that I went home . :)

Ohhhhh, I want pies :'(((

Tylenol, Paracetamol aka Acetaminophen is apparently the safe one for pregnancy.

Whisper, which digital scrapbooking kit do you use? Do you scrapbook on occasion too (I mean not on the computer as well)? I've noticed it's hard to find scrapbooking supplies in Germany and when you do they're quite overpriced when compared to U.S. prices. I remember there was a shop near where I lived that sold a ton of scrapbooking supplies for every occasion possible!

That's good you found the perfect changing table morri! I guess ours would be classified as a big and bulky one.

I have a couple questions - are lactation consultants covered by insurance?

Also, is anyone else breaking out? Acne's slowly making it's way back for me. :( Had it terribly starting the third trimester with Aurora and it took 4 months after her birth to clear up well enough. Looks like it's starting earlier this time around.. I've never had problems with acne either, not as a teen even. Really hits hard with pregnancy hormones. Well, I'm wondering if anyone knows of a safe and effective product. I know the ingredient salicylic acid is found in most acne fighting products and it's not recommended while pregnant so that rules a lot out. :/

It's funny you mention that because he didn't prescribe anything that could work in favor of fighting the acne until after the pregnancy when I asked about birth control. He said it will help and prescribed a pill, and I unfortunately can't remember the name, but anyway it was TERRIBLE. I felt so angry and depressed so stopped taking it after a month. Then I got pregnant. Now it's starting all over again.. May just have to live with it..

Adding - the pill was Bellissima :/

I have a couple questions - are lactation consultants covered by insurance

I'm pretty sure your midwife IS a lactation consultant. You can basically have her keep coming for up to a year to keep helping with lactation.
I can't remember all the details, but my DH knows them :O

Really?! Well, the main midwife from the hospital said home visits are a bit far for her so had another one in our area come. That midwife didn't help at all with breastfeeding although it wasn't working out (she wasn't getting milk from me at all, only through pumping). She showed me one position I could try then left. She was always in a rush.. nice lady but very little help. It was Christmas time and many were on vacation (the lactation consultant in the hospital I gave birth at was to be away for another week). I was left no other option but to pump as long as I could.

Lactation consultants are apparently covered by insirance in bavaria, but not where I live, well they are ocvered by private insurance too . This course we had to pay for but it isnt too bad.

While a midwife knows about lactation they arent consultants unless they have taken a state approved course and examination. (the (Stillberaterin" as it is called , said she had to take 2 years extra to her normal doctors assistant apprenticeship and take a examination(and she had to take a new one too, she told as the old one has been 10 years and things change in ten years) so while a midwife knows about lactation she does not know the entire ins and outs.

I never had acne, but I am sure getting zits at all not so nice places. (i never had so many zits in puberty even :haha: and I have them all over, stomach, boobs, face (some)...

Oh I havent got anything against big and bulky ones, but we havent got the space for such one :haha:

That's for that info. morri! You know, I'm really unsure what to do this time. I'll just kind of throw my feelings out there if that's okay..

So, these two will be 13 months apart in age. Like I mentioned earlier, breastfeeding turned out to be a nightmare with Aurora. I think there was something wrong too as the night my milk came in on day 3 after birth I was pretty sick. I couldn't stop shaking. I was in an extreme amount of pain. My breasts looked like Pamela Anderson's x10 and I'm not over-exaggerating. They were never huge either, crazy what pregnancy and post birth did to them. Anyway, she had no chance in the world to latch I feel like. I wanted so badly to breastfeed prior to the birth and set the bar high for success only for it to come crashing down. I pumped as much as I could and after 3 weeks I had virtually no supply left. It was over. It took me 6 months to get over the fact it didn't work out.

Now I'm not setting any bar. I'm just letting whatever comes come. If it's to be then great, if not then I'll pump as much as I can. I just honestly don't know if breastfeeding does work out, how I'll manage the demands of a baby possibly being breastfed 24/7 (from the sounds of some users on B&B that's how it is) while taking care of a 13 month old. My husband will take Elternzeit for at least a month, 3 max. but he's not sure at the moment how long we can afford. I'm really not sure if I should get in contact with a lactation consultant, let her know what happened with my first, how I'm dreading the thought of it with my second as it was such a negative experience and if it's realistic to make it work out while caring for such a young child too. I just don't know. I don't want to not give it a try at least. Just really up in the air with this at the moment.

It sounds like you had mastitis and engorgement! I hope you have better luck this time. Make sure to talk to you midwife about it before hand, make sure she knows about your previous problems and that it is very important to you. If you get shaking again this time, you should be going in to the doctor!

I think so too Sarah. It just didn't seem right at all. When the midwife saw her mouth nearly hit the ground, which shocked me as I'm sure she's dealt with a ton of women post birth. She just told me to try to hand express milk out and pump every 3hrs once the pump came. The hand expressing hurt like hell. I had thoughts of wanting to chop my boobs off with an axe, seriously. I remember crying in the shower trying with no relief. When the pump finally arrived some days later it helped. I didn't know at the time pumps can be prescribed. Had I'd known that I would have gotten a precription for one because the Medela cost over 100€ if I remember correctly. I probably should have seen a doctor at that point but I guess I thought what I was experiencing is relatively normal. It was Dec. 23rd, the day before Christmas here and as I mentioned, the lactation consultant in the hospital was away until the next week and I didn't have many other options at such a "bad timing" although those things of course can't be timed. I understand not many would want to spend their Christmas working though. I'll probably talk to the midwife I had at the hospital, as she was really nice. Only problem is her assistant is actually a lactation consultant and she'd probably recommend her but.. nothing against this lady but she's very special. She's always on a coffee high or something, scarily energetically happy, which is nice don't get me wrong, but a little freaky in such times. She has no kids of her own, not that that necessarily matters, don't get me wrong, but she didn't have much understanding to my emotions in the hospital. That's a whole different story though. Gosh, I'll just wrap it up! So, a lot of considering to do but I have 17 more weeks anywho.

Yeah, my friend stopped breast feeding because of mastitis, she said it was 100x worse than the labour!!

There should have been some sort of emergency help somewhere. But really, you were probably in so much pain and so tired that you didn't have the energy to insist on help, and like you said, know that it wasnt normal. I'm a bit scared of being in this situation. My DH isnt very forceful, and I'm going to be relying on him to make sure the doctors do what I want etc.. Labour and afterwards.

You can tell the midwife that you don't think the women is right for you. I think she would understand if you explain that you don't think you can handle her energy. She should know of other consultants too.

Ok, so I'm trying to figure out what breast feeding wraps/shawls would be called in German, or any way to google/amazon find them... Any ideas???

Try "stillcape" or "stillumhang" Sarah.
