Well you can even find 'kevinismus' in the German wikipedia . :haha:

Yeah my MIL speaks a bit, I've gotten to the stage where mine is better than hers though. Although when I have a hard German sentence I sometimes just say it in english and she gets the gist of what I'm saying (well mostly....sometimes). I get so tired speaking German though :( And if there is a group of people, there is no way I can follow along.

How is your pregnancy going so far? Morning sickness?

pregnancy is going ok very slowwwwwww lol thats what i get fior finding out at 4 weeks lol no actual morning sickness just major nausea and tiredness:dohh:

Hello Whisper, just catching up! Yes, I'm in NRW in Wuppertal - we can make Essen Ikea in an hour by public transport... (that is so far the height of my Essen experience!
There is a good facebook group for the English speakers in Dusseldorf - it's very active, but I've found I've only managed to meet up with them once, it's a bit of a trek... There's an bilingual (English-German) playgroup in Essen on a Saturday afternoon, I'll see if I can find the details for that too...
I'm with you on the friend front, it's hard going. I've only been here 3 months though, so it's early days... I actually had one of the Kindergarten mums and her kids round for playdate this afternoon, which was good fun :) Stilted conversation, but we managed to chat about quite a lot of different things.
Ditto on the german course, I'm the only native English speaker, so it feels a bit lonely even there where everyone else has someone else from their homeland...
Where are you from originally Whisper? I'm Northern Irish...
On the name front, I was to be Kevin if I'd been a boy - yikes! We haven't chosen a name yet - I want something that will be pronounced the same in English and in German - not Jacob or Joshua or anything like that!

Anyway, the facebook group

If you find a lady called Annalyn on there, she's an American in Essen, and can tell you about the english playgroup - she has a 3 year old and a baby due in Sept. I think this is the group she goes too https://the-kids-club.de/

thanky you for that will look into it im orriginaly from milton keynes buckinghamshire really hate the lack of friends not that i had many in mk but i had my little close group:haha:

sounds just like me, 2 or 3 close friends. It can make life so lonely. I was feeling intensley jealous today as I crossed paths with two seperate pairs of ladies speaking English... when do you move to essen? where are you at the minute? (I know you said earlier, sorry) I'd definitely be up for meeting up - I've got 2.5 weeks left of German lessons before the summer break, then I'll effectively be on "maternity leave" :)

im currently in gladbeck naff all here for me its full of turkish too and all in little communitys:dohh: meeting up would be ace we move in october but my mother in law lives in essen and all my docs are there too so im often there already:haha:

I wish I lived in a bigger city :( I think it would be so much easier for me if I could actually socialize with people! It really doesnt help that "siegen" means victory, so looking up anything on google comes up with weird things. "Victory english":dohh: just doesnt work...

Maybe look for the wider region- the Landkreis whereever siegen is for things to do.

Siegen is the capital of the district :dohh: The closest main city is Cologne and that's 45 minutes away! Oh well, I'm promised that we will be gone by next june, and with the baby coming I guess it'll go pretty fast :)

I wrote this twice and it kept failing! Better work this time!

I responded to the older ones, I wonder if any of them are still around :P. I didn't go for the newer one though because it's an older guy. It might be a bit weird.... maybe I'm being weird with this... :O

toytown is good, we've met quite a few English speakers in Wuppertal through that :) Maybe start a new post? You can always be in touch but not meet up if it's uncomfortable! Another one I liked was netmoms.de or kidsgo.de :)

I met someone off that forum, she was a bit weird

Shame you guys are quite far, we could of had a little meet ourselves.

Whats the weather like at the moment? I'm in the UK right now visiting my family, I kind of miss Germany funnily enough

And the bratwurst...oh I miss the bratwurst!

Ugh, they are so good, but if I eat to many I put on weight so fast!!
So hot right now actually, supposed to be 27 all week!

Weather is hot again! 30C by friday I saw, but cooler and wetter again next week... but Wuppertal is a bit of a hole in terms of weatehr (literrally, it's in the valley and seems to have its own shit climate!)

It was so hot last night!! Left the windows open. Of course it was rubbish day, so the trucks woke me up this morning :dohh:
I can't wait for the olympics to start, I wonder what it will be like watching it in german on german telly though!

Oh it is great weather here. about 25°C sun shine little wind :D thanks to the eastern european High pressure system :D

hot here too yesterday was in the 30s i almost passed out with the heat!

I have to say though, I love hot weather, but being pregnant makes it a lot less fun! I guess it's also because I've put on weight while pregnant :O
