getting new baby xmas presents?

my baby will be a month old so i wont be getting her a gift if i do maybe something small idk but im not gonna go over broad.

I don't think I'll get anything for baby either, as he'll only be 4 weeks old.

But if he were to be around 3-4 months I would get him some stuff for sure, babies love learning to grasp and shake things around at that age.

We are struggling with money and Mat leave wont be helping. Both of my children wont know its Christmas. New baby will only be 1 month old and my older boy will be almost 2 but he is mentally handicapped and doesn't even know his own name.

I will buy our older child one small thing I've been wanting to get him but can't really afford for no reason but nothing for the new baby. I know our extended family will spoil the 2 of them. If we were better off financially I think I woulda bought more things

We are going to have a small budget and I will buy some things and OH will buy some things. That way we open the ones the other has bought and we get a little surprise too as LO won't care what's going on. I've made sure it's a small budget so OH can't buy her a laptop or something else he wants lol

i like this idea, too, but would be a little worried - hubby was getting very excited about the new machine mart catalogue last night and would probably buy all bubs' presents there!!!!!

Our LO will be 2-3 months old. We're holding off buying him the play gym we want to buy him until Christmas so he'll have something from us. We might buy one of those flat mats that we can put him on until then - I've seen waterproof ones that you can use as mats under a high chair or for on the garden in the summer, so won't be wasted.
I really like the keepsake idea too.

Think that a keep sake is a really good idea, so I will be doing that xx

We will do the same as our first baby. A few little bits, a nice outfit, a couple of baby books and one or two little toys that can go on the playmat. Nothing overboard but still something to mark Santa visiting.

Our oldest will be 3 and really understands the idea of Santa bringing presents and I think he would be upset if baby didnt get something.

We are getting a little christmas oufit (it's reindeer babygrow!) for some embarrassing photos and willget an ornament or something as a christmas keepsake that can come out every year. I really can't see the poiint in buying loads for our baby when he'll be 3/4 weeks old?!

About 6wks ago I had a fit with everyone telling me babies don't need this and don't need that and got really upset so hubby n I went shopping n bought a load of toys for baby - these range from birth upto about 18 months so we are putting some away for Xmas this year n next.

So yes they will be getting Xmas pressies but I can umderstas why the opening poster doesn't feel the need.

I do like the keep sake idea so might buy one more thing.

I'll get a few bits and bobs for baba but definitely wont be spending a lot or going overboard, i'd rather save my pennies and leave the spoiling to our families ;) x

i have brought a few little bits, my daughter was 3 weeks old at xmas and she got keepsakey things :D

me and OH have been discussing this, we have decided to get her all her 3 - 6 month clothes & a couple of toys or keepsakes, so it will be pratical prezzies this year as she will be 3 months old, i have also mentioned to grandparents that i clothes will be best for LO as she wont remember what she got!! x x

im thinking of just getting stuff that she wil need for the months after like teethers and little toys that she can grow into also going to get her a playnest and probably lots of clothes. my mum is going to buy her noisy toys that she knows are going to drive me mad as she has already told me

Boo's due very early Dec and I'm not planning on getting her anything for Christmas, she will be FAR to young to understand/appreciate it and we'd rather save the money.

I won't be going OTT but I have two expensive young ladies to buy for  I will probably get him a baby gym, a keepsake rattle and a few odds and ends from the girls. I am DEFINITELY getting him this little doll though, even if it goes on his shelf until he's a little older. It's called Luca and I think it's supposed to be a girl doll but who cares  his presents are more for the girl's sake though as they can't wait for his first christmas.
When people ask what to get for his christmas I'll be telling them toys suitable from 0-1yr as he has plenty of clothes and his birthday won't be for another 10 months after Christmas.

I felt the same as you but when I thought about it practically, I relaised there'd be things I wanted to buy at that stage anyway as LO approaches 3 months old. Such as moving up a new clothing size and development toys only appropriate once they can supprt their heads like a Jumperoo (although will um and ah as v expensive!) and a walker, bumbo etc.

Have a couple of little teddies but not planning on buying LO any toys for when they are born so will probably want a few by then anyway - soft books and rattley coloured things etc - just little things though.

May as well call them xmas presents! But otherwise would absolutely think it was pointless and a waste of money.

I am getting a keepsake- I like the snowglobe idea, and maybe a few items of clothing

my little lady will be 2 months old. so im not going to go mad on things for her. i havent brought certain things for her now, like a play mat and high chair, because she'll be too small to use them . so i might get them for xmas. and things like a coat, baby monitor, because after xmas she'll be going in her own room.

hmm maybe i can persuade my family to get me a nanny so i can go back to work :)

. my mum is going to buy her noisy toys that she knows are going to drive me mad as she has already told me

Make sure they make their way back to your mums  My sils did this..oh the payback when their little ones were born.

I've been thinking about this for a few months. I think I will probably buy a couple of small things - maybe a nice outfit to wear over Christmas, some 3-6 months clothes and maybe a toy or two. I don't anticipate spending much though. I also like the Snowglobe/Teddy keepsake idea so I'll have a chat with DH. To be honest I can't imagine we will spend a lot as this is both my parents first grandchild and also my grandmother's first great grand-child so I know it's going to get spoilt rotten by them. We are going to have to remind them in advance that we only live in a small flat or it's going to get ridiculous and we won't have room!

One thing I am going to do is make a real effort to nicely decorate the house and make sure we have a lovely tree as I think the baby will enjoy looking at the sparkle and colours
