Giving up smoking SUPPORT!!

I attempted to have one the day after I found out but I was too paranoid so I got rid of it and haven't had one since. Luckily the MS completely turned me off of them but now that I'm feeling better, I'm getting cravings now and again.

I'm still on around 3-4 a day. I was able to cut back a lot during weeks 6-9 because my m/s was so bad I barely wanted to smoke. But these last few are the hardest to give up. My goal is to have quit completely by the time i'm 14 weeks.

My husband is also quitting with me. But it's no so bad for him because he dips instead of smoking sometimes lol.

Im currently trying to do this, smoking is making me heave started 2 days ago (and i dont even know if im pregnant yet!) but i had this last month with my chemical so if i am pregnant hoping it sticks!!
I find it easier to cut down as long as I have one in the morning and one at night i'm fine but the morning on is making sick now!
I have found that im replacing fags with food though :( Good luck to all stay strong!!! :D

p.s my younger sister smoked all the way through her pregnancy and my neice is perfect but my friend smoked throuh her pregnancy and had problems.

xxxxx

well done to all you ladies who have quit or cut down! Well day one wasnt too bad till dh peed me off.....now is stressed to the max and what one so bad! Trying to stay strong though

Stay strong i think the first few weeks are hard and then it gets so much easier. trust me I have not smoked for 4 months and I ocassionally fancy one and then its in my head for a minute and I then think of something else. You can do it!!! x

Have been struggling. Have been stressing over whether I will lose this one like i did the last LO. However have gone from 20 + a day to 8 - 10 and am smoking the lowest ones going either Mayfair white or silk cut silver. Keep hoping that ms will get worse failing that have an early scan at 7 weeks and if everything is ok I will find it easier. The ironic thing is that as no one can tell i am pregnant i can smoke around others with no problem. Is it more dangerous in the early days than the later ones? (I know its bad all round to smoke regardless lol)

Hi Vix!
And welcome to the thread!
I feel exactly the same as you! Tried quitting again yesterday and managed to not smoke till about 8pm last night.... i got myself all stressed out over nothing and gave in
I too have a 7 week scan next week and im hoping that seeing little bubba and knowing everything is ok will help me! :cloud9:
I have waited so long to fall pregnant....and cant understand why im finding quitting so hard! But i know i dont love the baby any less!! Hopefully we can quit together :hugs:

i am smokin i did cut down to 3-4 aday but have gone up again due to the stress my partner (ex wot ever he is at the mo) is causing me im trying to stop im 10 weeks pregnant and as they say tommorow is another day and i will start again then i will stop smoking

Hi Melly
Sorry your patrner or ex...is stressing you out! :hugs:
Dont feel too bad... you intend on giving up and thats what matters! I wish you luck x

Oh and vix... i read somewhere that its most important to give up before second trimester! Sooner the better...but best before then!

tomorrow will make 1 week for me and Im so proud of myself I tried quitting all together at first but then I seen that made me slip even harder so I cut way back and eventually didnt have that 1 that I normally would have and then got through 1 day and another dont plan on picking it up again:)

well done ancl! You should be proud! I hope i can follow in your footsteps!

im still trying to quit and i feel really bad about it because i didnt smoke for either of my last pregnancies, i have been given 16hr patches and inhalators but the patches irritate my arm and the inhalator is horrible, so seems like im having to go cold turkey which isnt too nice, i had 1 fag yesterday and 1 puff on a fag today and thats it, but im having awful headaches duno if thats to do with the stopping smoking?

Hi Charlie! Well done you for trying! It is hard though! The headaches probably are due to the detox from the ciggs!
Good luck, im sure you will manage to quit for good :hugs: Im glad to know im not alone in this battle x

its awful i had quit for 3 and half years, from tryin for my first son to having my second son, then i started again when things got rocky with my ex husband :( wished i had never started again, its so hard to quit, but we will do it hun :) x

I only found out I was pregnant last Thursday and I've managed to cut down by half now...

Well done Jelly
and Charlie! Yes we will! :hugs:
your baby is gorgeous btw! :cloud9:

Thanks for your info dreamqueen. I remember with my daughter 16 years ago I couldnt face smoking for the first 4 months then I lost a family member 3 weeks before I got married which was a huge wedding we had been planning for over a year and I started smoking again from about four months onwards. I remember in the delivery room a midwife pointing out that the placenta showed signs of me smoking and that it probably lowered my baby's weight but she was nearly nine pounds so I ignored her!! Also my daughter has asthma. It does run in the family on her dads side but I do wonder if the smoking actually caused it.........Am planning to give up as soon as I have a scan at 7 weeks.

so vix..will we make a pact...we will both give up the second we see our babies on our scans? :cloud9:
We can help each other through it :hugs:

I loved smoking and have smoked since I was a teen, now 32, when I found out I was pregnant, I slowly quit over a few days, but man it was hard and everytime I took a puff there was huge guilt, its now been 12 days smoke free, my partner has also given up with me, I do miss it, but hey baby comes first, before nicotine!
