I'm just wondering if it is worth me buying any sleeping bags for my baby, shes due in april so it will be starting to warm up around then and not sure if they should only be used in winter?
i would recommend having a 1tog and maybe a 2.5tog and a nursery thermometer/gro egg to help with clothing and sleeping bag. though i would get a couple of blankets as they can't be used under 7 and half lb x
There are different togs ranging from 0.5tog which is just like a thin sheet really to 3tog which is very warm for a very cold house. In April it may be starting to warm up but it may actually be colder in baby's room than it is now at night as you probably won't have the heating on.
The tog you put on baby is determined by how warm/cool the baby's bedroom is (or room they sleep in) not by what temperature it is outside. As Princess_bump says... use a room thermometer or Grobag Egg (I've just bought one of these and it's fab) to use and guide you to choose the correct tog for baby. 2.5tog are the all rounder except for high summer, I reckon that a couple of those would be best to start with and depending on how warm your house is maybe one or two lower togs for the summer.
They can be used all year round you just need to adjust the tog and what the baby is wearing. Im going for 2.5 tog and nearer the time see how warm it gets but I expect in the summer I will change to 1 tog. Grobag eggs are excellent, we are going to get one, take care XX
My daughter was born in April last year and we had bought a 1 tog grobag to use but it turns out she preferred being swaddled so we never really got much use from it.
I love gro bags just bought Jacob a 1tog for summer! I would get a 2.5 and a 1 as you can never tell what the weather will be like at that time of year and plus you can use them for 6 months so the weather between april and october will change alot that you will need both x
Ive bought a 1 tog and am going to get a 2.5 just incase.
I also bought a gro bag egg this morning and have set it up in my living room, its saying 20.8 degrees and is red but it feels bloody freezing to me!
