I am in the middle of a discussion on one of the threads on here with regards to smoking.
And because i am not using the termonology that i use at work (am a MW) on here then according to one of the girls i am not a MW.

I find that really offensive and i needed to rant as OH isn't here and my 10 month old doesn't understand me!!!

She said she had a hard time believing it. It is because midwifes do not typically condone smoking during pregnancy. Most likely, a midwife would have talked about the risks and good ways to quit. If you really are a midwife, I don't see anything to be angry about. You should know and be comfortable with what you are.

I never said i condone it, i just said that i still smoke and am cutting down to stop smoking and that i could not force people to stop smoking just offer advice.
I just got annoyed because she had a hard time believing that i was a MW.
I am not going to rant on about smoking when so many other people are doing that.
Everybody knows the risks of smoking during pregnancy and if people want to take those risks then i am unable to stop them just advise them on the risks and the benefits of stopping smoking

I agree with Gemie really charlie comes on here to talk to other ladies learn things an share ups an downs! I cant stand bullyish behaviour an i actually looked at the post an felt thats how it looked!! An for the record each mw will surely have there own opinion advice etc!! I have seen several differnet docs so far with this pg an i have been advised to have an early scan by 2 doc not by another 1! One gp said not to take prog one specialist said defo take it 2 a day!!

My point being we all no smokings bad an it certainly wont help a preg but thats the individual persons right what they choose to do an as a mw they can only offer advice!!

When my sister gave birth the mw advised my sis not to have an epidural so early as the pain would get worse! She told the mw thanks for ur advice but ur pain threshold is obviously better than mine so get me that bloody epidural!!
Come on girls lets be nice we are hopefully all in the same boat here an different opinions lets voice them in a friendly way? x
