GT test- 4 times a day for 2 wks?!

Hi ladies
I was originally booked in for a gt test ( the sugary drink one). Then as I was only 0.03 bmi above the cut off they said I didn't need to go. Had a few yes u do, no u don't to-ing and fro-ing then they booked me in for fri. Went and it wasnt the sugary drink one. I have to do this finger prick blood test 4 times a day for 2 wks!!! Have a home kit.
Is anyone else doing this? If so why were u referred?
I had a too high reading last night. If I get 2, I have to call nurse...
Anyone experience this?

I tested (and still have to) for one week after being 'diagnosed' with GD to see if I was able to control the situation by diet alone but subsequently have been put on metformin and insulin injections x4 a day. It's good to know how food affects your body so I'd do it. I guess every hospital works differently.
