As Gemma Merna embarks on the last few weeks of filming on Hollyoaks, it has been revealed that her popular character Carmel McQueen is poised to make one of the most dramatic exits yet.
A source has exclusively revealed to MailOnline that blonde siren Carmel, a favourite on the show over the past eight years, will perish in a fiery crash in scenes which are set to shock fans.
A show insider said: 'Carmel's exit from the show is going to be explosive! She's been in the soap for eight years so it was integral that she had a big exit storyline. '
And, according to the source, planning the beloved hairdesser's exit has been no small task, as it will be one of the most expensive scenes ever shot in the show's history.
'The crash that is being filmed is costing a huge amount of money and viewers are going to be stunned by the ending, which will see Carmel Gemma's character killed in what's billed to be one of the biggest soap story lines the show has ever produced,' added the insider.
'People have been trying to keep this storyline quiet, but it's explosive.'

There’s a big moment for the McQueen family as Theresa becomes a mother for the second time.
When Theresa goes into labour, her family are by her side as she is rushed into hospital for the birth.
During the journey, there’s a big surprise in store for the McQueen clan as Theresa drops the bombshell that Dodger Savage is the baby’s father. Mercedes then tricks Dodger into coming to the hospital so that he can be present when his child arrives.
As Dodger turns up, he is surprised to see Theresa in full-blown labour but nothing compares to his shock when she tells him that he’s the father!
Soon afterwards, Theresa welcomes a baby girl and calls her Myra-Pocahontas Regina Madonna Savage-McQueen. Naturally, the news doesn’t go down well with jealous Sienna Blake, who warns Theresa that she’ll have to fight dirty if she wants Dodger all to herself…

Hollyoaks star Nikki Sanderson has confirmed that her character Maxine Minniver will struggle to prove her innocence after her abusive ex-partner Patrick Blake is run over.
Patrick's twisted daughter Sienna (Anna Passey) drives straight at him in the village next week, setting up a fall guy in the process as she uses a car that Maxine has hired.
In a case of bad timing, Sienna's stunt comes just as Maxine has publicly threatened Patrick (Jeremy Sheffield), convinced that he is still plotting against her.
The trouble unfolds after Maxine throws a surprise party at The Loft, wanting to propose to Dodger (Danny Mac). However, when Sienna ruins the special moment by secretly setting off the fire alarms, Maxine jumps to the conclusion that Patrick was the mischievous culprit.
Sanderson told All About Soap: "Maxine comes out of the club and sees Patrick, and she just assumes Patrick was responsible. In front of everybody, she says she wishes he was dead. It's not a good move, but obviously it's just the heat of the moment and she doesn't mean that she'd actually kill him."
On the drama that follows next, the actress continued: "Patrick's run over by the red car Maxine's hired. Everyone has heard her say she wants him dead. And her engagement ring, which she thinks she's lost, is then found in the vehicle - and Maxine can't understand how it's got there.
"Maxine has absolutely no idea of who the real culprit is. She's had nothing to do with it, she's not tried to run Patrick over, but she's being blamed for it. How does she get out of that?
"There's evidence putting her in the car, there's evidence that says she wanted him dead, and then there's Patrick lying on the floor hours later. It's not looking good."
Despite still being terrified of Patrick, Maxine decides to visit him in hospital in order to support Dodger.
"Seeing Patrick still invokes fear in her, even if he's lying there unconscious," Sanderson explained. "She goes to the hospital with Dodger to support him and Nico. Nico found Patrick, so she's quite distressed and Maxine wants to comfort her."
Hollyoaks airs these scenes on Monday, October 13 at 6.30pm on Channel 4.

Theresa McQueen's fate will rest in her cousin Carmel's hands on Hollyoaks next week, as Carmel uncovers the evidence needed to free her.
Carmel (Gemma Merna) is surprised when Phoebe's water-logged phone suddenly springs to life and she listens to Sonny's confession about manipulating Theresa's arrest.
However, Carmel purposely leaves the phone in the bin as she visits Theresa with Myra and Kathleen-Angel.
Later, Carmel has a change of heart about the discarded phone as she starts to feel increasingly guilty about Theresa still being locked away.
As she goes to retrieve the phone with Sonny's confession on, she discovers that the bin has been emptied, leaving Carmel panic-sticken.
Carmel then chases the bin van through the village and climbs into the back to look through the rubbish, but will she be able to retrieve the phone needed for Theresa's release?

When Diane (Alex Fletcher) nearly catches Sinead (Stephanie David) and Tony (Nick Pickard) kissing in The Hutch once again, Tony suggests to Sinead that they go away.
With Diane eager to go with him, Tony lies to her, saying that he is going away on a food conference and leaving a disappointed Diane back at home.

Confident that Cameron will step in to protect the family if things start to go wrong in the household, Peri (Ruby O'Donnell) teams up with her best friend Nico Blake to trash the Lomax residence.
Peri is hoping to fool the adults into thinking that they have been burgled, but she goes a step too far when she asks Nico (Persephone Swales-Dawson) to tie her to a chair and leave her there for the others to find.
Unfortunately, once Peri is alone, dangerous consequences of her scheme begin to unfold as water from a vase that she smashed comes into contact with an extension wire on the floor.
Peri is unable to free herself as Nico has tied her up so well, so she is left terrified and frantically calls for help as smoke begins to fill the room.

No it popped up on my Facebook because a friend had commented on it. It was a Facebook hollyoaks spoilers page. I don't know if its true though
