Home Birthers & Hopefuls!

Have you checked your cervix yourself?

I can't reach it tried a few times, I usually could when we were TTC just can't find it now! xx

If it's gone if may well have started to efface :). And inde MW I know thought hers must still be very posterior when she checked it. Turns out it was fully dilated and she gave birth an hur later!

I laughed when Matt said it :haha: bless him! Had the same image in my head :haha:

Moomin I feel ok about being induced, Im just worried about them breaking my waters. It sounds totally ridiculous but I worry it will distress her. All the water just disappearing, she wont be expecting it and I don't want her to feel scared :dohh::dohh: Ive already had my husband and MIL laugh at me for saying that, and I know it's reeeeeally silly, just can't get it out of my head it doesn't seem right. Im going to ring on Monday and push for a sweep at the hospital one day before Thursday. I don't quite understand why she wouldn't do one at my appointment, fair enough her head isn't in but she even said herself you can go into labour without the head being engaged. Im going to push them for it I think because I think it would be better all round :/ surely they don't want to have to induce people :/

Is there anyone else in here due now ish? Full moon tonight!! Hope it gets somebody going :)

zane was induced by my waters being broken and i had no problems and a 7 hour labour. hopefuly they will stop trying to scare u and actualy work with u

Ive been in for monitoring this morning because little miss lazy bones wasn't moving last night or this morning.

Quite pleased I went though, had a check & her head has gone in 3/5ths engaged, I had 2 contractions on the monitor in 30 minutes but she is back to back. Midwife seemed quite hopeful that I wont have to be induced because I was having quite a few little niggles and then 2 bigger jumps on the monitor, but she said because baby has moved back to back it might take a bit longer to get going.

So Im getting her turned round this afternoon if its the last thing I do!! xxx

i was told corey was back to back, i spent my time on my knees leaning over my birthing ball lol the day before he was born i asked if he was still back to back and got ignored. i thought he was because all i could feel was legs but he came out face down.

so god knows if he turned last min or my mw was talking out of her ass lol

as for me my boobs are so sore and i hate stitches lol

My mw said depending on the shape of your pelvis when they engage they might turn themselves which is what willow did

Linzi, I had a difficult birth with Byron (not induced) when my waters went to start it all off. If it helps he was utterly relaxed throughout so I don't think your waters being broken will necessarily cause lo any distress. As for engaging Indigo was in and out quite a bit, I could feel it. She was also rop all the way up to labour. I bad a couple if bouts of prodromal in the two weeks before, both times I felt she'd moved to the left. I assume she did the same when labour started for real as she came out the usual way and I had no contractions in my back to speak of.

hi

been away for the weekend so catching up. things are starting to sound like theyre moving along linzi! exciting stuff :)

yeah ive been awol this weekend too, linzi hope bubs gets a move on soon

Linzi, the amniotic fluid continues to replenish it's self so there is no worry that there won't be water in the sack if they break it. But I do I agree it's kind of mean to break it. Just let it go on it's own. Waiting to hear your delivered!

how are you feeling today linzi? xx

Im doing ok today thanks :) Its really annoying coz I actually feel pretty good, not that uncomfortable or anything and fairly calm (even though I probably don't seem like it ). I put that down to my hypnobirthing CD though, Ive been doing it everyday to help relax. Not at all how I expected to feel at 42 weeks pregnant anyway!!

I think I'm just being silly about the waters breaking thing, it just seems a bit much... like I could understand the pessary I wouldn't mind that because then it would just be like a little ki8ck start whereas if they break my waters... I dont really know how to explain what I mean it just seems a bit much iykwim? What will be will be anyway, I just want her here safely. but before Thursday would be preferable :)

Amen to that. :) Come on little girl. :) You must just a roomy cozy womb. lol ;)

Hey Linzi - The only thing about getting your waters broken is you'll then be "on the clock", they may want you to deliver within 24 or 48 hours in case of infection, so maybe ask thier protocol before they do this, as you may then get them on your case to do a section if you've not birthed by then. It may be better to just get the pessary right enough, so you don't have to fight any more battles in labour? Your choice of course, but this was one factor in my ending up with C?S with DD, as my waters had gone before labour started. And all the stories of waters breaking spectacularly over midwives and doctors sound like fun, hehe, keep 'em on their toes...

thanks everyone! and good luck linzi!
ive not been able to get on here much have had cleo attached to me a lot and was very hormonal and crying day 3 and 4! feeling really good now though, trying to get exclusively breastfeeding as we gave some formula on the early days as breastfeeding was so painful with cracked nipples and blocked ducts! i thought i didnt have enough milk :( and now i probably dont have enough milk!
I think im the only person to acheive a drug free homebirth and still be dissapointed! it was really tough mentally I wasnt dealing with it very well and was terrfied she wouldnt come out ok! now im terrifed something will happen to her I need to learn to relax!

Jodie, you'll be right - you often find the first few days your boobs will engorge so much that nothing comes out - a hot shower and some massage can get it going, tho it may be sore to get things started, it will start to flow better then. Otherwise hot flannels on them can do it too. If you keep feeding your milk will come in enough to meet demand, try not to worry. My friend gave me some homeopathic stuff called Belladonna to unblock ducts and it worked a treat as well, not sure how available stuff like that may be where you are, maybe your midwife would know? Make sure you ask her for help if you need it, hon and check out the breatfeeding boards here on parenting too. xxx
