Hi all.

Got married nearly 2 years ago now. My eldest son was only 9 months old so didnt do a honeymoon as I didnt want to leave him.
Spent about £15,000 on wedding so honeymoon was a no at the time anyway.

Now we have decided to book our honeymoon for March 2011. Going to Thailand for two weeks. Going to Bangkok for 2 nights then onto Phuket.

Going to book it in the morning.

Just wondering has anyone else done this and did you get the same benefits on your holiday as you would have if you went straight after your wedding?

I wouldn't worry about it! After all not much you can do about it now?;)

A holiday is a holiday IMO and if it's your Honeymoon then good on you for deciding still to have one after two years :)

I'll be staying in the UK for mine as I'll be 6 months pregnant. We'll be having one around the time that baby is one.

Have fun!

I will be interested in this as well.

We got married and 6 weeks later my dh went to Afgan for 6 months so we didn't have time for a honeymoon then, then we got posted and dh was always away, now he is going back to Afgan for another 6 months! We have promised each other that when he returns from Afgan in January we are going to go on honeymoon to Mexico (4 years after we got married lol).

That's pretty much exactly what my OH and I did. We got married in a courthouse in March '08, so suffice it to say we didn't have the money to go on a honeymoon at the time. So we both agreed that we would go on our "honeymoon" on the day we were planning to have our big wedding (that never happened) in October '09. It didn't feel like a honeymoon really, just a vacation, but still just as wonderful. I don't think you can find much to complain about on a vacation, whether it feels like a honeymoon or otherwise, as it is a much needed time to relax and enjoy yourselves without any worries or distractions. Trust me, you'll be excited just to get away for a week or so. :)

thanks for the replies everyone. Couldnt book it as a honeymoon but im not bothered. Booked the holiday today to Thailand for 10th March. Got an upgraded room its lovely so cant complain.
