The kid is 18 months old, what she ate at one month is kinda a moot point now.
In my local area a 19yr old was reported to social services for giving a 3 week old a rusk. She was then monitored twice weekly until that baby was 6 months. So yes it is serious but i think more people do it than let on.

Whaaaaaaaaattttt? That is crazy. Twice weekly monitoring for a RUSK?! I mean, I don't think it's a great thing to do at all (and I managed to exclusively breastfeed my giant 99th percentile boy until six months without trouble, so it clearly can be done!) but that is really OTT.
Really dont understand setting out to cause drama. This thread will be one we're re-reading in a few months thinking 'WTF'.
Lets make this one like the icandy one![]()
The OP made me laugh, I thought it was a joke post!!!
I am sad that people think like this - I worry about their children!!
I breastfed my son til 11 months. Up until 5 months old he was atttached to me pretty much for 24 hours per day. I started offering him solids at 6.5 months old. Milk is all they need - breast or formula - give them as much as they want, as often as they want. And if you think there is a deep down problem then speak to your doctor.
I am 36, all my friends are in their mid-30s and we all have children under the age of 5. Not one of us has offered solids before 5.5 months - we know the risks, have all done our research and know our children are our childrens health and safety is priority and offering food so young can be seriously damaging- why risk it?

I am intrigued - what happened with the icandy one? How can a thread about a pushchair get controversial? If someone would pm me if it would cause problems to put it on here!
Ok so i guess a lot of people on here dont agree with giving rusks at over a month old but, shoot me now, giving rusks around this age is the norm in my area. Being a new mum to emily meant i listened to my mum and everyone elses advice (although didnt always take it) and my mum was adamant that emily needed a wee quarter rusk because she was always crying for her bottle, and it didnt satisfy her so, eventually giving in, we tried emily with a bit of rusk at about 5-6 weeks old and she loved it! At first i wasnt sure we should keep giving it to her, but the girl loved it! I can see where everyone is coming from and pointing the finger, but i think its very unnecessary to call me uneducated about my children. I was a first time mum just like anyone else and i was listening to the advice of my mother (as you do!) i had rusks, my brother had rusks, my aunts and uncles and cousins had the rusks and so did just about every other baby in our area, and quite early on! I suppose i need to keep in mind that BnB is worldwide and that what goes on in my area doesnt usually happen elsewhere and can cause offenceand im not looking for a debate as some have said also, i never posted in baby club until i had my son, and i can see now that baby club takes offence to a lot:-/ i'll keep in mind not to post anything so 'ludicrous' next time, i was genuinely wondering how babies can make it to 6 months old without food because where i live, 6 months old are usually on three or more meals a day!

Check out the 'when do you let them CIO' thread![]()
Sometimes I hate this place and wonder why I even come here (but then always come back lol)
Where do people get off openly slating others and telling them to get a clue? I guess we're all perfect bloody mothers 100% of the time to be able to pass judgement so freely. I bet you wouldn't be so mouthy if you weren't sat behind your computers
And another thing - the holier than thou attitude of people who talk like not weaning until 6 months and NEVER EVER giving their baby jarred or pre-prepared food is very patronising. Big wow for following guidelines. Stone every mother who fed their baby something not cooked by their own sweet hand!!!! Give me a break

Personally, I couldnt care less when someone weans their baby. But if I weaned my baby at 4 weeks, I wouldn't post it on here for all the judgey mcjudgers to have their way with me! There's threads popping up constantly atm with 'controversial' tones to them, and a lot of it I think is for reaction. Someone with so many posts must know the unwritten 'rules' of B&B and what the hot topics are, there's been enough of them about lately![]()
