I know they are only doing there job but ARGHHHHH

I got ID'd for a playstation magazine the other day, didn't have anything on me so passed it over to my younger sister (I'm 27, she's 25) who incidentally hadn't been asked for ID and was buying a case of lager
She then realised she'd left her bank card at home and I paid for both the magazine and the lager! :dohh:

my sister was best drove into petrol station put petrol in paid for it then asked for cigs it was 16 ages limit and he asked for id it took her about 10min to explain you have to be 17 to drive and she was 31!

I'm 33 and I stil get asked. I take it as a compliment though! I find it is always older people who ask me and always Tesco or ASDA - I have never once been asked in Waitrose for some reason! I have also never been asked when I have LO with me. Once I was trying to buy Bucks Fizz and had no ID so the woman in Tesco couldn't sell it to me even though it was only about 3%! Fair enough though, as they are personally liable if they sell alcohol to anyone under age. NOw I always carry a driving license just in case!

I get ID'd a lot..my best one was in co-op when buying cigs back when i smoked..the age was 16 to buy them, i was about 24..and had lived across the road from the woman serving me for 24 of those years. Yet she refused to serve me cause i had no id!

love that one

reminds me of few years ago, i was going out with my mate and one of them said my little sister wants to come will you take her under your wing as i get asked for id all time and you dont, i said yes thinking she was about 16 or 17 and we have all been there

so this went on for few weeks no problem with bouncers then we went to one club we both at bar and i asked for vodka and coke and young lad asked me for id when i said wow i bet id left school before you even started he said probably but ive asked so need to see it i hadnt got any so my friend next to me said its ok ill get it so she ordered mine with hers with same guy and when he brought them over i said ill pay and he took money off me and gave me change

i was amazed as all in all he had served me (24 at time) but through my underage friend, i put change in my purse and noticed he had given me change for £40 instead of £20 so i had last laugh then i asked the friend when she was 18 and she said ages i was only 15 few months back OMG lol

My younger brother is 24 and got asked for ID in Asda yesterday when he asked for a lottery ticket!! The woman said you need to look over 25 :dohh:

Hahaha some of these have given me a good laugh.
Strangely when the smoking age was 16 (i was 14) i used to never get ID'd, when i actually turned 16 (smoking age was 18 by this point) i got ID'd all the time, and still did every time up until my 18th birthday the other week :dohh: Now i hardly ever get ID'd and im standing there ready to whip it out!! I definitely look younger than i am as well but maybe having LO with me makes them think i'm older x

I always carry my ID with me (license). I can't imagine not having it on me. Over here, a lot of places are required to card you, regardless of how old you look. I agree that they don't have to give you attitude about it, but by the same token, giving them grief over it when they could lose their jobs and receive hefty fines and are this required to do it isn't fair either.

What makes me laugh is I had never once been asked for id untill I was 25 even though I had beeen sneaking into puds since I was 16

this happened to a woman in a tesco store a few wks ago near me. she rang the radio station to tell them about it. her point was if she was underage and was binge drinking why oh why would she be spending 150 euro on shopping, especially as most of it was washing powder, shampoos and other cleaning stuff. unless the staff member thought she was gonna clean up after her drinking session.

a police man emailed into same radio station and said he got asked for id (off duty), he was buying a bottle of wine, he had none on him only his police id, the shop said it wasnt good enough!!! it could be a fake they said.

well yea! i dont know what a police id looks like so how would i know if its fake?

ive ID'd a police officer (obv not knowing they were) and she said to me oh ive got a credit card you have to be 18 to get one of those so it proves my age and she got right sh#tty with me about it.

I actually considered ringing the station and telling them they needed to retrain the silly cow

I'm 37 and still get carded all the time. Take it as a compliment. My brother used to get beer when he was 18 by taking his kids with him to the store :dohh: I'd much rather they card everyone and refuse the sale if you forgot your ID. It's just beer.

Can't see your pics your privacy settings are on. Post one on here!

I know a girl who is 18 but has growth problems and looks around 12, she was trying to buy a bottle of vodka in asda and got turned down even tho she had ID. she also has learning difficulties so speaks like a little kid. she was explaining about her growth problems but they just laughed at her!
tbh though she did come across as reeeeally suspicious, and if i hadnt known for a fact she was 18 i would have turned her down too. she didnt make herself seem any older by saying "i'll ring my mum, she'll tell you!" :dohh:

I understand you ladies who say you have to do it and you could get fined if you get it wrong, but surely it takes a bit of common sense too. For instance when my OH got asked we had a £150 shop as said before, we had 2 kids with us, she first asked me for ID and I proved I was 26, and then she asked my OH, who looks like this:

I just don't see the logic in asking him to prove he is over 18 when he quite obviously is. He was spending a lot of money with them and he just felt embrassed by the whole thing, which has meant we haven't been back to ASDA since. We've never had the same problem anywhere else, it just seems so silly.

I used to have to ID people for cigs and they could get so abusive about it. If you face getting fined you will always err on the side of caution.

That's ridiculous! Having a credit card proves nothing, she could have stolen it lol.

Dont know how much truth is in it but my ex whos a policeman said they are not allowed to use police id as off duty id and could get in alot of trouble for it.
PLus can you not get 17 year old policemen? I cant remember if there is an age limit for passing out and a police id doesnt have dob on it (from what I remember

I got asked for ID at Christmas in Marks and Spencer's when I was pregnant - I'm 34 and had to point out to the assistant that it was non-alcoholic mulled wine anyway. Then i got asked when i was about 7 months pregnant to get into a Lloyd's bar (not one person in our group was under 30), they let me in but I also pointed out to the bouncer that i was only going to be buying soft drinks anyway.
as others have pointed out in the states you get asked all the time so people are more used to it there, and it doesn't bother me being asked. Pain in the ass having to carry passport around all the time when I'm over there though.

This is a bit extrem point but a point nun the less.
How old would you say this woman is on average?
