I need help! Arranging an event.

I need to pick your brains

If you were arranging an event, for in 6 months time, say for an example, a health awareness day, what would need to be done in the 6 months leading up to that day?

I have stuff like, arrange a venue, marketing, printing of posters.

However, I'm stuck at that really.

I recently planned my best friends 25th birthday party, was a nightmare
First thing I did was think about costs, set a budget.
Then I thought about when/where which you've already done.
Next I did all the 'essentials'..

Food/drinks?
Furniture?
Decorations?
Facilities? (Like toilets etc)
Music? (If you need any or whatever)
Lighting? (Again, may not need any depending on what kind of event it is)

Don't know if you will need it or not, but public liability insurance may possibly be needed.
