my friends are going ice skating and have invited me and i would love to take my little girl cos i'm sure she'd love it.

anyone any ideas whether it's a good idea or not? I've not been in 6 years but i don't fall over as a rule.

i personally wouldnt have. maybe go swimming or sumthing instead. i know from my personal experience when i go down i go down with one helll of a bump lol p.s. sorry to gatecrash first tri, but mat leave is soooo boring lol

I wouldnt, could be pretty dangerous. Could you go and watch and let your friends take your LO? x

i thought that would be the answer but i thought i'd ask

I absolutely WOULD go! The chances of you falling are small, the chances of you falling on your belly are even smaller and even if you did, your baby is extremely well protected being so small and surrounded by water, tissues, muscles and loads of other soft stuff that will protect him/her.

By all means be careful but there are 1001 dangers that you may or may not encounter in your house never mind out of it, so I wouldn't personally see the need to hide away. Just my opinion of course, but I would go!

Hi there, I thought I would just give you my input. When I was pregnant with my first ds I had regularly being going ice skating for over 6 months but stopped going when I discovered I was pregnant. I never fell over once in that whole time. Then stupidly (in my opinion) when I was in my second trimester my friend moaned and moaned at me one night to go ice skating with her as our other friend had pulled out of going and she really wanted to go. She said she would take care of me and I would be fine. So, along I went and everything was great until the last 15 minutes of the session, I went around the corner, lost my footing and went slamming into the ground. I fell on my bum and back not my stomach and I really injured my elbow, but not long after my fall and after I had been carried off the ice by the stewards I started bleeding. I was rushed to hospital and kept in to be monitored. My friend felt so incredibly guilty but not as guilty as I did! At the end of the day I could have refused to go. I felt so irresponsible and I honestly couldnt have lived with myself if anything had happened to my baby but thankfully he came out a happy and healthy 8lbs 6oz bouncing baby boy. In my opinion I wouldn't risk it, the guilt ate me up for months long after everyone else had forgotten about it and even after he was born healthy. I couldnt believe I had risked my baby's life. Just my opinion though xx

Go, I play Ice hockey and other then a knee injury I would be playing through the first trimester. The odds of falling are slim if you can skate well. My doctor has approved me to do power skating as that is my job. If you do take a tumble you usually fall on your hands. You baby is protected behind your pelvic bone. Just dont push your limits skate at an easy slow pace.

i wouldnt risk it! the odds may be slim but it is ICE afterall ........ and as you said uv not been for 6 years, totally up to you tho xx
