Is labour near? And does this mean you wouldn't need a sweep? Is that what sweeps are for?

It doesn't really mean anything, especially if it is your first pregnancy because you usually thin faster than you dilate with first pregnancies. I was 80% effaced for 4 weeks with my first. Sweeping your membranes is when they separate the outside of the amniotic sac from the cervix, so yes you would still need it. Hope this helps!

Also it doesn't mean that you won't go into labor either. You never know!

Okay thanks! Yea i'm 2cm dilated and 100% effaced. My doc said he didnt think i would make it another week but i know better then to get my hopes up!!

I was curious about the sweep because i thought you had to get a sweep if you were not effaced, but that makes sense now!!
