If you were only spending £100 what would you buy a 18 month old?

I definately got the wrong things for his bday paddling pool we didn't get to use. Trike but it was too hard for me to take him on the trike as iv a little baby aswell, beach set - never used and a few other bits.

So for Xmas I really want to get good toys he can use that can last until his birthday in July

Any recommendations?

Also we don't have a garden

Wooden cars and vehicles. I love these ones, which are expensive, but I have seen them cheaper elsewhere: https://www.mulberrybush.co.uk/car-transporter
https://www.mulberrybush.co.uk/magnetic-car-loader
https://www.mulberrybush.co.uk/race-track-tower We actually got this one for Rory's 1st birthday and it was a huge hit.

One simple puzzle. Melissa and Doug do fantastic noisy puzzles.

A book that you will enjoy reading to him, and another book that he can enjoy alone.

Perhaps a small instrument or musical toy.

A wooden train set.

Duplo blocks.

Bubbles.

Toy dinosaurs.

You could probably get all of this for way less than £100 if you aren't too bothered about buying new, and in fact even if you are I don't think it'd come to much.

Wooden cars - Isabelle got some lovely ones from sainsburys and primark even for about £3 each!

Puzzles

Books

Aquadoodle perhaps ?

Wooden garage

I think thats a perfect budget :D xx

A happyland play set, some wooden puzzles, board books, megabloks or Duplo, trains /vehicles, shape sorter, finger paints, aquadoodle, doll and stroller.

Thank you!! The car sets look really good Emy and I can imagine him enjoying the one that's like a slide. He has never tried doing puzzles before so I think we will definately get one as he will be a little bit older then

My main problem is he still doesn't really play with anything. He has alot of toys and he will mostly still put things in his mouth Hit things together and then he is onto the next toy, even if I only put out 2 or 3 at a time he can't concentrate on it for long. He still loves things that rattle so I think a musical instrument would be good and he LOVE books although afyer about 2 pages he wants to read a different one.

I don't want to overwhelm him with toys either as last year he got a bit too much.
At his toddlers group he is obsessed with the playhouse but it's just a bit too big for our flat.

I have seen panels that you can use to turn a closet into a playhouse. Not sure where you would find them, but it could save up space compared to a normal playhouse.
ikea tents might be a bit smaller too (and can be folded away)

or maybe a tunnel?

At 18 months, my daughter started playing with Mr. Potato Head, Playmobil / Little People.
Play food or dolls are good at that age too. I find my girl loves to play with things she recognizes.
She also loves anything she can push, especially her shopping cart and stroller.

When ds was 18mo he loved these ELC magnetic trio cars - there's loads of sets. He would spend hours connecting them and running them round the living room. He also loved the ELC whizz around garage and he would put loads of the cars together on it.

https://www.elc.co.uk/Whizz-Around-Garage/134238,default,pd.html#q=Whizz around garage

They def go cheaper.

Book, wooden puzzle, aqua draw/doodle, toot toot, little people

playtent might be good if he likes houses and they fold away.

i second the magnetic cars....we have 4/5 sets and they're popular with all 3 of my boys. they are tough too and last ages.

puzzles and megabloks

some kind of ride on toy would be nice

magna doodle or aqua doodle

books!!!!

Another question, did any of you LO like the happyland toys? Iv seen a massive bundle probably £200 or more worth of it on ebay and with a clean down I think itl look brand new for about £40. It's just not something I can imagine him using at the minute though, I no he'd just put the little people in his mouth and maybe push the train about but not actually play with the little houses and shops. Just not sure how much he will change between now and xmas

Both my LO's loved happyland, they both had sets from 12-18 months. Definitely a good buy for us :)

LO is 18m and just started playing with her happyland/little people. I think its a good investment for the future :)

We have quite a bit of Happyland (mostly hand-me-downs from my sister's kids) and all my 18 month old ever does with it is put the figures' heads in her mouth while she plays with other things, and tries to use the bus as a ride on toy! Hayden was never all that interested, either to be honest. I prefer Playmobil and am planning to get some of the 123 range for Zoe.

ELC have some good musical instruments and they are a great investment - my 2 both play a lot with a set Hayden (now almost 4) got for his 1st birthday. They don't seem to sell that particular set any more, but there are similar ones. Sainsbury's also have a good selection.

Technically they are not in the right age range, but Zoe loves to play with Hayden's wooden train set. He has a big one on a table, but Ikea and Tesco do nice little sets which are a really good price.

Zoe's main interest at the moment is babies, so we have got her a cabbage patch newborn doll and plan to get a rocking cot, which I am going to crochet bedding for.

And not going ott is a good idea - they just get overwhelmed at that age and it takes days to open everything if you're not careful!

The toot toot range is pretty good for that age.

I see you had a couple of Melissa and Doug toys on there. This website has some great M&D things
https://www.wauwaa.com/shop/
and had a £30 off a £50 spend a couple of weeks ago. Not sure if it's still active though. It was SEPTSPECIAL My order hasn't arrived yet, but others' from here have.

For me the main things rio is loving right now and are my favourite buys from his birthday are..

Mega bloks (from around £10 for 60 blocks)
Aquadoodle (on offer £15 at the entertainer)
Little tikes cosy coupe (£35. I know you said you don't have a garden but rio hasn't used his outside yet, he drives it around the house!)
'Thats not my' books (£9.99 for three in elc)
4-6 piece wooden puzzles (very cheap everywhere)
Musical instruments (I got him a jake and the neverland pirates drum from Disney store which came with maracas, tambourine, clicky things (haha what are they called!?) and obviously the drum and sticks. It was only about £10)

Hope this helps x
