Is CC/CIO now my only option?

:( that's depressing ladies! I hope my dd grows out if it!

I actually had good news! Someone from the hospital referral team phoned today and left a voicemail to say I must phone Monday regarding an appointment for him.

It must have helped crying my eyes out with the health visitor! So will know more on Monday morning.

Aliss I did as you said tonight and raised his crib slightly more and actually he went for the first 2hrs after putting him down without waking up.

That's wonderful! :hugs:

The first night I propped up his bassinet with a bunch of phone books we had the same thing. I would push as hard as you can with a reflux diagnosis and possibly try and get to gastro-specialist. The propped up bed is really a dead-giveaway that it's acid flaring...!

I wish you the best of luck, having a reflux baby is a nightmare. I did never sleep train him, because of it, and he is now the best sleeper in the world. In fact it's 7:03pm here and he's been asleep for an hour already and won't wake until 6 at least...! It DOES happen! But you might have to wait longer than most.

oh felix i will be thinking of you tomorrow. please let us know what they say. i am going to persevere with the bath massage bottle bed routine tonight and see how we get on. she has been sleeping like a champ today though. 3 hours this morning 1 this afternoon and 2 so far this evening. i am going to wake her at 7:45 to take her up for her bath. wish me luck.

That's good news. Hope you get an appointment quickly.

Well I don't know how my health visitor managed it but today I got a txt from the NHS noreply service reminding me of an appointment I have for him this coming Thursday! This must have been why the lady phoned me yesterday. I'm so relieved :)

That's brilliant news, things always seem better when you have someone on your side. My son had reflux and the paediatrician was very helpful. We were lucky though, we already had a great gp. It's shocking how many doctors don't appear to care that babies are in pain.

That's great news! Hope they can give you some much needed answers, whether it be that he has reflux, or something similar that needs treated, or that he looks to be healthy, so you can rule that out as an issue with his sleep. It'll be good to know one way or the other!

I was only voicing my opinion and suggesting an alternative. I found the book useful actually. And I'm also one who understands how tiring it can be when your baby won't sleep. My little girl still doesn't at nearly a year.

How was I to know you'd read the book? You seemed reluctant to cc or CIO so I tried to offer you an alternative. No need to make out like I was bashing people who do it because I wasn't. But I won't bother next time.
Oh and babies don't all outgrow reflux (which does seem it could be the issue here as my dd suffers with it). My sister is nearly 16 and still suffers with awful reflux. That being said, luckily most do grow out of it.

Sorry that was not my intention. I know you were being helpful. I just found the book a waste of time and I don't think helpful for babies that truly have sleeping problems. that's just my opinion though.

Hi Felix, my DS also has reflux and is a terrible sleeper but I wanted to say that I think your doing a good thing holding him when he's in pain don't worry about the associations, my DS conks out when he's exhausted no matter if being held or not but defo cuddles in when he's struggling, your showing him your there for him :)

Also wanted to say, I found something called hipp goodnight milk i need to get vari flow teats to try it tomorrow will let you know how we get on

Ohh, also, not sure if your DS is on reflux meds but losec is like magic for acid reflux....my DS still won't sleep well at night but no longer screams in pain. Best of luck with your hospital appointment and hope your LO sleeps for you soon (same exact sleeping as my DS with the hourly to half hourly Wakings so I feel your pain) xxxx

Maybe it doesn't help them sleep through. I've not actually tried yet. But it helped me understand why she may not sleep through which is why I found it helpful :) it does sound like it may be reflux so hopefully with some treatment your bub will start sleeping better :)

I suffer due to a medical condition that causes it. It has gotten worse over the years...not better so they all don't out grow it. Reflux diagnosis were unheard of when I was young.

Reporting back on Hipp goodnight, he screamed last night so I got vari flow teats and he refused to drink it tonight :( ....so, it might work but my DS will not have it, sorry it was no good, I will say, I propped the cot up with books for the last few nights and he has slept better still up three times in the night but that beats hourly Wakings so I'm hoping it continues may be worth a try? I have previously tried to prop up the mattress but that never worked he was actually worse...x

Sorry I meant to say about Hipp Goodnight, I tried it too because it's so thick and I thought it would help but it gave my baby terrible stomach cramps :(

Well I guess it's one more thing tried and tested, we tried hungry baby milk last night and he only woke at midnight and 4am! I have started getting him out the cot for full feeds, winding and then cuddles till he's well asleep seems to be helping...still think the books under the cot legs have made the biggest difference so far x
