Is the glucose test mandatory?

Everything is optional. It's your body. I personally wouldn't refuse it but you absolutely have the right to. They can't make you do anything.

They didn't say what would happen if I refuse it but I assume it means they might not continue my care. This is my last pregnancy so I'm thinking I might just do it and get it over with. I'll have to research how to sway the test this time because I think my breakfast the last 2 times might have caused a false result and caused me to fail. I only failed by 1 point the last time and I still had to do the 3 hour test, which I passed with flying colors. I just don't like being told what I can and can't put in my own body or what tests I get done. I know they claim its for the safety of the baby and myself but there are so many false readings with this specific test that I wish they would come up with a more accurate way to do the test. Almost all of my friends failed the 1 hour test! And none actually had GD. That's ridiculous.

It is optional. They can't force you. With my first two pregnancies I was with an OBGYN and not knowing much I went for the tests each time and was fine.
Hated the drink though.
My 3rd and now 4th pregnancy I am with a midwife. Love their relaxed approach!!! It's totally optional. With my 3rd pregnancy I skipped the test and with this 4th pregnancy I will skip the test as well! My midwives have assured me both time so far that there are other red flags for GD if I do develop it, and at that point they would require me to get tested if there was concern.
So if you want to skip it go for it, no one can force you to do anything! Just make sure to remain healthy through your pregnancy, no processed sugars (or very minimal), protein and lots of veggies! You will be fine

Every time I go in for a glucose test I fast. It's not required, but I always go first thing in the morning and fast. I think I did that with the test for my son's pregnancy and will do it this time too, even though the sheet they gave me told me I didn't have to.

It's so different depending on where you are. Here in the UK not everyone has the gtt (starlight it may not have been mentioned to you if you don't need to have it?)

I did have to fast before mine but it was at 9 am so no problem really, and then I had to drink ice cold lucuzade so nothing nasty. Other than being a bit bored it really wasn't a big deal at all

I didn't have gd but I'll have the test again this time since my son was on the bigger side.
