is/was your LO a really bad sleeper? support and advise thread!

well. i officially have the worst sleeper ever.

he used to wake up twice TWICE at 2-3months old. then after 4 months he now wakes up seven...SEVEN times.

it takes me about 20minutes to settle him for naps in the day, and during the nap he wakes lots and i need to resettle him

IM EXAUSTED since my husband is working out of the country atm and im doing this all by myself

-cry

That's not bad kosh!!!! Hopefully you'll get a good nights sleep tonight after all?! Xx

I'm really torn. I'm tired, but I'm worse when I'm being woke up after 20/30/60 mins etc and I know if he wakes me, I'll give in and cuddle him to sleep or let him him my bed as i want to get back to sleep and will have wasted my time. So, I was thinking of just staying awake and dealing with this all night so he learns to self settle and then getting OH to take over in the morning so I can concentrate on doing this properly tonight and get sleep in the morning?? Hmmmmmm

you mean stay up all night?
sounds very tiring but I see your point.
good luck!

The thing is I'm worse if I'm woken, just can't function and I know I'll cave and do the quickest thing to get him to sleep! :dohh:
He crashed at 10.15, and has since woken at 11, 11.30 and 12. Going to see if he wakes in the next 20 mins and if he doesn't, I'll try go to sleep then...fingers crossed!!! A two hour stretch sounds lovely!!!! :happydance:

7 wake ups would have been considered quite good on some nights in our house! But, we fee your pain, its horrible.

Cormac is poorly at the mo so back to waking in the night. Poor little monkey

Last night she went to sleep at 8:30, woke up at 10:30, 1:30, 3:30 stayed up until 5:30, then up again at 7:15. She doesn't nap alot during the day, if she does go it's only for 30 mins. I wish I could get a few hours in as I am sick now, fighting a bad cold. I feel like a walking zombie, all congested and stuffed up it actually hurts. :(

Ah Hun - its hard enough dealing with a baby that won't sleep but it's 10x harder when your feeling poorly!
Hope LO sleeps better tonight and you feel better soon xx

Thanks, me too. I am going to try and get an hour or two of sleep now as she is in bed.

:hugs: ellebelle, that sounds like a yucky situation. My OH hates that I can settle LO with the boob too and wants to let him cry.. I just can't do it. I'd rather suck it up and continue the frequent feedings than let him cry at this point. I can't imagine having to settle two.. And I always dreamed of having twins haha.

:hugs: veganmama- your LO sounds exactly like mine. After 4 months it was all downhill. I don't think we've had 7 wakings recently, more like 5 or 6 but that's because I cave and cosleep after 6/7am or else he'd be up more lol.

Hey if veganmama was in Ontario and we were all close we could have a bad sleeper meet up! :haha:

Hope everyone from across the pond is having a good night, its almost midnight here and he's up for the first time... He was hard to get to sleep tonight(it was like my boobs produced red bull instead of milk!) which is never a problem so let's hope that's not a sign of what's to come tonight!

It's coming up to 6am here and I've had a total of an hour and a half sleep - which to be fair, isn't all my sons fault - OH has been snoring and I just can't switch my mind off. That said he's woken a fair few times so max I would have gotten is about 4 hours :-(

Big hugs, you must be shattered. Did the CC not work?x

To some degree yes, in that each time hes settled himself without too much crying, but problem is he's waking still very often - we've had 2 2-hour stretches, but other than that it's been every half hour. He wakes renewed from his 'nap' and lays there wide awake grizzling for ages and wanting to play

What a rubbish night! 2 hours sleep in total for me as even when Alex slept for a stretch of time, either I couldn't switch off or OH was snoring :-(

Here's how he slept..
7.30-8pm
10.15-11
11-1130
1130-12
12-2.15
3.20-5.20
Bottle at 5.40 (only took 3oz)
6.10-7.10

Surely a baby can't survive on a total of 7 and a half hours either???

It sounds like although he is still waking a lot he is getting the idea.... I would stick with it. I'd be very surprised if you don't see some improvement fairly soon.

Yeah to be fair, it's not the worst night we've had by a long shot! I'm just so tired!

He normally sleeps till 9.30 so was trying to leave him till then, especially as he hasnt had much sleep either, but he's been awake screaming since 7 so I'm not sure wether I should just go and get him now? Urghhhh this is hard :-(

We have had a good night! :wohoo:
At 6 Dom got all fussy and tantrummy so we decided to give him his porridge already (by doctors advice we are now giving him two baby spoonful servings of porridge (with the water this becoems about 6 baby spoonfuls) along side his bedtime bottle). He loved it though he had a difficulty swallowing at first and I had to re-shovel it in with the spoon! Soo cute lol. Anyway, they went to bed at 7:15ish after their bottle. Dom then slept till 8 and needed resettling, then to 11:15 when he wanted his bottle. This already is AMAZING cause he usually wakes every 45 minutes till about 10. So we gave him the bottle and he slept till 2 when he wanted his dummy. Then he woke again at 3:15 and wanted his bottle. And then my good golly he slept till 7! Seb woke me at 6:30 cause his nappy was full but I feel like a new woman! :D Please please Dom let this continue! :D

omg, angel this is brilliant!!!! :happydance::happydance:

I know!! :happydance:
How did yours go kosh? Any improvement?

Angel - That's amazing!! Hopefully it's the start of better sleep for you all.

Gemma - sorry you had a bad night hon :hugs: Maybe with the CC it takes a little while and it'll be a little harder before it gets better....? I really don't know but like Hanskiz said maybe he is getting the idea but it'll take a bit of time to completely change his sleep patterns. I hope this is the case anyway.

Our night was really good in the end. Down at 8.30pm, woke at 10pm and OH resettled, then woke at 12.30 when he came in with us and fed, then fed again at 4.15am, and up at 7am!! Two feeds only! I can't believe it.

He did take quite a while to settle after the 12.30am wake up, even with feeding but I'm definitely NOT complaining. I hope it continues but realistically it seems to be pretty random.

It's these nights that make me question whether to do sleep training or not as if this was a sign that he's improving on his own i wouldn't bother but it always seems we go one step forwards and two back so I can't ever seem to make an actual decision about it! :dohh:

How were everyone else's nights?
