Itty Bitty Babies Club (Slow Gainers)

congrats flora!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yay: x

James was 14lb 14oz last tuesday :) so going back up to the 2nd centile...he was born just above 9th but recently dropped right down and off the 0.2nd centile! x

Connors now weighs 20lb 7 and is still below the 0.4 centile. Ive stopped worrying so much about his weight because hes never going to be the biggest toddler and although the diatician still isnt happy at least the hv is and she was so bad for moaning about his weight

congrats flora - wow!

Em is now about 12lb at 6 1/2 months - still on 0.4th.

We saw Paed today, getting referred to dietician and "growth specialist" :-( they dont seem too worried as she is dveleoping normally but they might do growth hormone tests :-(....... anyone had anything like this???

Niamh has lost weight :( She was 14lb15 on the 4th of may and dropped to 14lb9 on the 16th, the HV wasent concerned about it. I know why shes dropped, she was having 4 8oz bottles but since weaning shes hasent allways been wanting her 3pm bottle so now im trying to get her to take some of it. So much for baby's only needing 20oz of milk a day.

I'm sure Niamh will bounce back. It's tricky when you start weaning to find the right balance.

Hello ladies, please may we join you?

Although Evie was a very healthy 8lb 11oz when she was born, at 23 weeks she's only 12lb 2oz and sitting down on the 2nd percentile. She's the right height for her weight and the health visitors seem quite baffled every time I take her to be weighed but at the same time conclude that she's just a little baby!

We've decided to try and wean her now although she's not quite 6 months yet in the hope that it will boost her up a little. She looks quite tiny in her high chair - I guess they're designed for "average" six month olds and not ones the size of a 4 month old!! :haha:

I guess like most parents I'd be happier if she was sitting on the average line but we accept that she's just a little lady and she'll always be our little cutie!

Hi Vixen_17!
Just got back from our 15 months checkup. Gabriel is 18.5 lbs and 31 inches! Tall and skinny. That put's him around the 46th percentile for height and .4th for weight.
He's a little string bean. He's been jumping up percentile lines for length, but pretty steadily following along the .3/.4th percentile. Clearly nature intended for him to be skinny like his parents.

Ivy is 14lb exactly at 27 weeks - not so itty bitty any more - full on 9th percentile! She has gained more in the past 2 weeks (13oz) than she ever had before, even as a newborn!

We having been doing BLW since about 5 and half months, I knew she was eating a bit but I didnt realise it could be enough to make a difference!

Anyway here is a piccy of my mini chubster :haha:

Ivy is looking great! So cute.

hi all,

welcome vixen, Evie is soo cute!

fsab news Seity on Gabriel's height/weight and congrats to Ivy too - a proper chubbster!!

Had Em weighed last week and shes now 13lb at 7.5 months, still tiny ...but she jumped above the 0.4th - woo hoo - must be all those Petit Filous and cheese triangles!

We went to see the dietician - who recommended skips and quavers (honestly how stupid)

so we are doing out own thing - mainly purees with bits of finger food - shes definately loving it a lot more than milk!!! I just make sure i put loads of oil/butter/cheese in her purees!!

hope everyone else is OK xx

Quavers and skips ? Really ?? What were his/her reasons ?

You wouldent think ivy was that small by her pictures.

Niamh was 15lb15 last week, might seem a lot but its only 7lb up from birthweight which i suppose isent too bad. Im getting sick of people thinking shes younger than she is,

Quavers and skips ? Really ?? What were his/her reasons ?

that they dissolve easily in the mouth and would be easy to swallow - i dont even think they are that high in calories... and what about the salt content?... apparently not an issue??

anyway i ignored her on that one....

Organix do a range of maize snacks that are similar to quavers but healthier

I have no idea what skips and quavers are. My doctor just wanted us to make sure Gabriel wasn't dropping any of his milk/formula feeds when he was under a year and that we were giving him whole milk once we made the switch at a year. We've only ever eating whole fat foods in our house, so no problems with that. I don't believe in eating low fat or non fat foods. They just taste gross and I'd much rather eat less whole fat foods.

I love the carrot sticks they do - it is a case of 'here Ivy you have a couple of these' - whilst Mummy scoffs the rest :haha:

Hi everyone, not actually sure where we belong - Kirima was born weighing 8lbs 7oz so quite a big baby and now she weighs 12lbs 9oz so has dropped quite a lot on the growth curves. Recently someone asked me if she was 2 months old and she's nearly double that, so thought I'd introduce myself here. She is still exclusively breastfed and no one has yet suggested I do otherwise - maybe she will just be small.

Im not suprised the diatician has said that. Connor has a very limited diet because of allergys and alot of his diet is rubbish food but atleast now he's gaining weight instead of losing it. Most diaticians say the same thing. Connor now weighs 21lb at 24 months still below the 0.4 centile for height and weight but at least hes gaining now

Welcome Tanikit. You're definitely in the right place. Rebecca was 8lb born but dropped from the 50th to the 9th percentile. This group has been enormously supportive and reassuring for me so I hope it is for you too.

The general consensus seems to be that as long as LO is happy, healthy and generally meeting milestones they're not too worried.

Just to help you (I hope) 17 months on and Rebecca is now back up to the 25th percentile. The paediatricians haven't been worried about her weight at all for sometime so please try not to worry :flower:

To everyone else - hello! There have been some fab weight gains of our itty bitty ones  I hope everyone is well xx
