June Dragonflies 2016 Babies and Beyond!

Took forever to get H to sleep last night. Tried walking around with her. Then the swing (she fell asleep but woke when she hit to crib). Then more walking (again fell asleep then woke up when gig to crib). Then tried pacifier.. she would suck, get sleepy, spit out, wake... that went in for a while. Then I brought her in bed with me and breastfeed. She fell asleep but woke up again when getting in crib! Tried pacifier one more time and she finally went to sleep. I hope tonight is easier!

She's actually napping in her swing right now. I put her in there to eat breakfast and sterilize bottles and I'm considering letting her sleep in there for a bit longer just so she naps (I think her lack of napping yesterday may have contributed to her sleep problem). But I think babies really shouldn't do any sleeping in their swings so it makes me nervous and I have to hover!

I always let my older son nap in his swing. I kept an eye on him but was able to do chores etc. as long as she is strapped in and isn't left on her own for long she should be fine.

Leo sleeps like a dream during the day in his car seat if we are put or his beanbag of we are at home but fussed in his cot. He doesn't like lying flat so last night I put a small flat pillow under his mattress to raise his head slightly and it made a big difference. I also got some gripe water as I think he is struggling with wind. It doesn't cause him too much discomfort but it does make him fuss at nights, usually because by the time he wakes for a feed my boobs are the size of his head and he gulps it down.

Starlight - I hope tonight is better for you. I am a bit split on the sleeping on a swing/rocker too but the way I see it's much safer then me holding her in bed and falling asleep with her in my arms. It reclines quite far back so it's not too bad and she loves the rocking, however rocking the co-sleeper does nothing !

Starlight for the transfer to the cot have you tried having a blanket or muslin behind H while she falls asleep and putting her in the cot with it underneath her? I had to do this with ds1 and it worked really well - something to do with the warmth and smell.

Thanks ladies! Haven't tried any tricks yet. She cat napped again in swing but woke while I was eating so no transfer!

Those in wonder week 5...have your babies sleep been different?? Or feeding?

H has also seemed to have a greater need to suck for comfort. I've been breast feeding her more because of it and using the pacifier more. She has been putting her hand in her mouth too.

Love your new avatars mommy & Pixie.

Cute pic Angel!

Starlight, hope tonight is better. A friend advised me to put a t shirt that I've worn over the sheet to help Róise sleep. My cousin also advised warming the sheets with a hot water bottle before putting her down - obviously don't leave it in with her.

I got an antacid from the Dr today for Róise so I hope it really helps with the reflux - she gets pretty distressed by it now.

Starlight I think those wonder weeks follow babies due date, not actual age (at least that's what the app says) so Georgie won't get there until she's 12 weeks.

I think we copped really lucky with the jabs. George screamed so much yesterday afternoon - the type of sobbing where no more sound comes out  but then she slept normally and woke up her normal self today. She's been really relaxed and settled all day, brought her up to bed and she went down with no fuss and was just drifting off when she massively projectile vomited all over her crib. It was all up the walls of her crib and puddles in her hair. She had an emergency bath and a 20 second feed and she's conked :haha: No ways she's going to sleep very long -her tummy must be empty!

My throat is seriously killing me :-( It's hurting to breathe! I'm such a mardy I think I'm going to cry. It's going all the way up to my ears and my face is throbbing

Squig fingers crossed! Do you know how long it should take to start helping?

Nice about the vomiting ;) I bet little G felt much better though! Sorry to hear about your throat; sounds awful. How are you this morning? Not sure how long the antacid takes to work; hopefully not long!

Baby: starts scruffling & lamenting in her sleep about 5.30am. Wakes both parents.
Mother: gets up & lifts baby at 5.40 & goes downstairs to start the day.
Baby: sleeps in mother's arms.
It's now 6.15 & she's still sleeping. Baby is a rascal!

My back is agony in the mornings. It just seizes up. I can hardly walk when I first get up. It will ease as the day goes on & I'll get a hwb when I'm not holding Róise. Anyone else so stiff & sore? My neck & shoulders are very tight too but lower back is the worst.

So hard to catch up lol

Hope you feel better soon lil pixie, hugs

Squig- i know exactly how you feel, ollie does this to us all the time! We end up co-sleeping because im too tired to function some mornings lol

As for the swing/sling situation... my lil one sleeps in his swing all day.. as he hates the bassinet, ive attached a pic of what ours looks like, im yet to use our sling but will try tomorrow while out for a walk

Hope everyone is doing okay

the magical thing about babies is they are great at making you do things you never thought you'd do... like letting them sleep wherever the heck they'll sleep! i remember thinking the same thng, and then, i wound up co-sleeping that first month. and now now with the second? he sleeps in the swing if he wants and that rock and play, and whatever it takes for him to be happy i'm good. lol.

i'm so sorry about the jabs and your throat! that's terrible :(

ugh i'm so sorry :( my back has finally started to calm down, was hurting a lot right after birth, but seems to have stopped now. i get minor pain at the end of the day from hunching over (i have terrible posture) when feeding but other than that my body feels decent. i usually get hit much later with trouble if it's anything like dd.

Ehj, that swing looks nice! What kind is it?

Anyone let their baby nurse when they want to suck for comfort? H just doesn't take the pacifier well so sometimes nursing is the only way to calm her. (It's also the only way she gets breast milk because she's mostly formula fed and I worry what I'll do when my milk goes away).

Yeah Juniper nurses whenever she wants, for as long as she likes. Unless we're about to leave the house for something important then I stop her once the swallowing stops.

I let Leo stay on for as long as he likes but he normally just comes off when he has had enough. I have a v good supply so he'd have to suck for quite a whole before it would just be for comfort.

Leo had been fussing a bit after some feeds and as I'd said I got the gripe water but I've also being doing a bit of baby massage and doing the bicycle with his legs and pushing his wee knees up and he has got loads of farts out and he is much more comfortable now.

Hey everyone! I'm back, will catch up properly tomorrow.

:D

All. The. Time. Milk is about much more than just food :)

Georgia is usually like Leo, she just eats and comes off. But she was comfort feeding after her jabs and that's fine - she can have a feed whenever she wants.

Baby girl nurses ALL the time. Be it for food or comfort. If she's not asleep she is on the boob! Lol xx

Thanks ladies. I wasn't sure if it was strange or not! I find it very relaxing because she usually does it for a bit then she is calm and we have cuddles.

My boy has to be cut off if he eats too much. He makes himself sick lol. But I always offer as much as he wants :) no restrictions here!
