Funnily enough about 2 weeks ago I was watching Sky News and the yellow breaking news banner flashed up with a child that had gone missing from a park up North somewhere. The child had been missing about 2 hours. Within an hour of the breaking news another banner came up to say the child had been found safe and well.

Is there a new alert system in place now?

Dizzymum, thats kind of the point *none* of this makes sense... we're just gathering info from things that have been said in the reports/in the interviews..

A school girl went missing near my house the other month and was gone for over 24hours, she was looked for helicopters etc ... it was in the paper the next day and the article was TINY. at the back. How come after so long she wasnt front page breaking news like maddie? Yes she turned up but it was much longer before it was news?

Well, what is your explanation for them keeping it in the media? If you're gathering information because you want to know what happened, then why is nobody talking about the positive things about the mcanns? Like them doing everything they can to find their little girl? It's all so negative.

If you're looking for the worst in people, or a situation, then you'll often find it imo.

For every article on the internet pointing the finger at them, there will be another supporing their story

Kate didnt even look for maddies. she admitted that herself that is not doing everything you can

It wasnt them who called the media it was there family.

I think the media interest snowballed and they couldnt just shut it all down so they ahd to go with it

Im no expert, I came into the thread fully thinking she was taken and is alive possibly in a basement or something, but ive done so much reading now i just cannot see any other explanation.

IMO now its still in the media because if it wasnt, they would get critisized for ''not doing anything'' so they have to keep it going... and theyve said theirselve ''the fund is running low''.... where is the proof what this money has been used for?

Thing is i just dont see how they are doing everything, any sightings reported they went elsewhere? they didnt answer questions, they delayed things and deleted things, they are NOT doing everything.. thats the point

The only evidence that can be found anywhere supporting their statements is their own statements, and those have changed so much that any court in the country would throw them out.
Iv already said it makes plenty of sense to keep it in thepress, how many people are making a full time careers out of the fund and the search? People who previously worked in high paying jobs to support mortgages and families. They both dropped these jobs within weeks of Maddie being missing.
The majority of comments and speculation on this read has come from transcripts of statements, video footage and audio transcripts - all court worth evidence. If this were to go to court the jury would be made up of people like us, and the majority of this thread has declared them guilty. Now obviously that isn't the same as a court ruling but it should say something. The fact people who support them and believe them do so on the basis of human kindness and empathy and trust and the people who believe they have a lot to hide do so on the basis of hard evidence.
I do not expect anyone to agree with me however there is too much evidence to believe they are just poor innocent victims in all of this. I have no faith in the fact the police have not proven anything as this whole thing has been so bizarre, in what other case has the reason for the suspects not being charged been that they will not cooperate? The only point the McCanns we're outright accused the lead policeman was dropped from the case before he could go any further. Those who live in the area of the resort have removed thir missing posters and a few have been quoted as saying they want nothing to do with them. This includes the priest who befriended them at the beginning, there as been no explanation for why has suddenly turned on them, wanting no mention of their name and bring described as a shell of a man since the whole thing.
There is so much to be concerned about in thus case, if it weren't for the fact they are her parents, middle class, attractive anddoctors there would be uproar at the lack of investigation. Anyone can commit a crime, even stats say it is more likely they would arm her than a stranger.

Home office spokesperson says the governments primary concern has always been and remains the safe return of Madeleine.
Kate and Gerry are reassured by 'our goverments commitment to search for Madeleine'.

They pushed for this today, in the most public way. Murderers? No. Parents who want their little girl home. yes.

You wouldn't want Scotland yard to investigate if you had something to hide.

Ok so there is one piece of evidence sporting their explanation, the fact that 4years later they are asking for a reopening.
Lets not forget they encouraged the police to close it in the first place, refused to support any of their investigations and went against there advice at every turning. And that's only one subheading of the evidence against them.

They have found murderers 20 years after the crime so I'm sure if they are guilty then they won't get away with it 4 years later.

And yes, alot of "hard evidence" especially the dna stuff has now been destroyed.

Also, am not sure how the Biritsh police can really do much either. If they know the Portuguese police have been silenced, then nothig will really come of it.

I hope it throws up lots of the questions we have raised.

Is it being reopened? I thought it would only be reopened if the McCann's agreed to a reconstruction and to answer the question/cooperate in general?

It really creaped me out..

Gerry was digging a hole, in somemud + madeline was their, cant remember much of it but it really freaked me out, ive stopped clicking on links..

What if they sold her to somebody? Kates 'They've taken her' comment.. maybe they was getting threats ect? who knows.. im home alone now + i feel so scared, ive even got Grace asleep on the sofa next to me, im not leaving her side tonight!

I went awayand thought some more. Maybe the Mcanns didn't kill her but made her drowsy and someone snatched her(shed be too drugged up to fight back). May e theyv decided to come clean.

I heard on the news at teatime that the Macanns want answers and want the governments help in getting these.

Correct me if i am wrong but they want the British taxpayers to pay for an enquiry for something that happened in another country and for the want of a better wording their own fault??

They left their children with no adult while they ate, they are educated people and their own stupidity cost them one of their children.
