Kids dressing like adults

Even 'teen' acts like hannah montana/miley cyrus are turning to the sexy side. And little girls idolize her. But when she goes on stage in a slutty outfit and even goes as far as twirling on a stripper pole in one video I saw, it's completely disgusting! I agree the music industry is so OTT with sexuality.

I do think it is a bad thing but then I also think it is a bad thing that adult women are societally obliged to dress in a highly sexualised manner too. Kids emulate adults (like Smokey said about her brother :haha:) so if we sorted out the way adults dressed there wouldn't be an issue with children.

Got to say my biggest beef with women of all ages is playboy branded stuff. Makes me feel physically sick.

Hopfully I wont have too much trouble with music channles and slutty acts as fingers crossed they will be metlers :)

I was shocked the other day by a friend who posted a video on fb of her 9 year ols doing a pole dance routine, I know alot use it as excersise these days but this was her going upside down with her legs spread and thrusting against it.
Anouther friends daughter who I have known since birth (they are old family friends and neighbors) had a photo of herself on fb fressed in a corset and covered in makeup pouting with a dummy in her mouth and another pushing her boobs up towards the camera, shes a big girl so has the body of a much older woman but when this photo was taken she was only 14 and her mother knew all about it but her mother is the type to teach her to act that way to get a man.
She has no problem with her daughter sleeping with a 32 year old bloke.

I Hate playboy logo stuff, its one thing to have it on adult and older teen stuff like mobile covers but when its on things like school folders, pencil cases and clothes for 10-14 year olds its discusting.
The sad part is though there must be a market for it and people buying them otherwise they wouldnt waist money making them if no one was buying them.

But the reality is we can't do anything about the way adults choose to dress. Actually we can't do anything about how other people's children choose to dress either. All we can do something about is to try and communicate the values or try to discipline our own children which mean they don't feel obliged to emulate what they see around them.

But the popularisation of pornography is an issue. A huge issue. We lived in LA for a few years and it's way worse there. And unfortunately they provide us with a lot of our societal norms in terms of films, TV, music etc.

I always feel women who dress up and need to look immaculate and sexual all the time must be so insecure but I wonder if that's true... hmmmmm..... :coffee:

I think so too redpoppy. I know I am confident and dress down!

No we can't do anything about the way anyone dresses but there are steps that could generally be taken to try to change the way society views women - let's face it we are after all talking about women and girls here.

Not to mention half the time she doesn't wear panties and takes nude photos. If you're a celebrity, don't take nudies with a phone!

:o She's younger than me!

I do think it makes childhood so much shorter - I help at a midweek kids club for 7-11s and it makes me so sad when the girls come & say 'I can't join in with the games - I can't run in these shoes'

I think it's horrible the way some kids dress these days. And I'm not a fuddy duddy, I'm only 21 myself but I wouldn't dream of some of wearing some of the things I see young girls wearing. Mini skirts, boob tubes, knee high boots?! Sometimes I see them in town with their parents, who actually look relatively well to do but then their kid is dressed like a slut. It also makes me sad that 10/11 year olds are starting to experiment with sex. My little sister and my cousin both only just turned 11 and they're still fairly innocent. If I knew they were doing anything like that I'd slap the both of them. When I was 11 I was too busy making dens and ropeswings and riding my bike fgs. Boys still had cooties

p.s if someone shot Miley Cyrus tomorrow it wouldn't be a massive loss....

It's people like her and that Vanessa girl from HSM that kids "look up" to that make them act/dress like tramps. Miley Cyrus did a nude photoshoot for Vanity Fair. Vanessa whatsherface got caught sending nude photos of herself from her phone... Put some clothes on, you're like, 14 ffs!

I find it pretty disturbing Miley Cyrus was asked to do a nude photoshoot, since she was probably underage at the time  (as in under 18, not 16)

And miley's dad was there for the shoot! That's the worst part. He approves and even promotes it!!

I think the parents/mother has a big part in how the girls want to dress.

However, society and the media today flood magazines, TV and even girls toys with sexy and provocative images.

You just have to turn on a music channel to see role models such as Beyonce or Britney wiggling on a pole in hot pants and a bra.

The message given to girls to be 'grown up' means dressing in a sexy way which I feel is wrong.

My SIL has just turned 16 and goes out most weekends looking like she should work in Spearmint Rhino's :(

The message I want to put across to Evie is that you don't need to dress that way for attention or to get a boyfriend

A gentleman will love you for your personality and your mind. Not the clothes you put on your back and the amount of skin you show

well his career turned out to be a flop so hes probably just trying to cling to any form of celebrity through her now, sad.

i hate seeing girls dressed up older- alot of it is down to celebrities but also the clothes they sell- i remember looking for knickers for my 6 year old sister (at the time) and all we could find were thongs!
I also never forgot having a dress up day at school and a 10 year old came in dressed as a st trinian- stockings, suspenders the works- i personally think we should have sent her home again to change!
