Hiya

Okay so hubby has an iphone 3gs which he has had for just over a year and a half with Orange. It is a bit battered and is slowly giving up and I said when his contract is up for renewal (March-June 2012) we will get him the iphone 4 which he really wants. At the moment he has an unlimited internet usage package which he needs (has some months used 2gb. Lol) BUT I have recently found out that Orange no longer do an unlimited internet usage package! So if/when he was to upgrade he would have to go on a 1gb or smaller internet package which with the iphone and for hubby isnt a lot of usage and very likely incur charges if going over internet package!

I have found that T Mobile do a package where you get unlimited internet aswell as 500 texts and I think 900 mins for £40.85 a month. I am considering ordering him one and obviously having to pay the orange one until the contract ends next year. I think in the long run it will work out better as he will have an unlimitied internet whereas if he renews with orange he wont be able to. I could wait and risk that t mobile also stop doing the unlimited internet as o2 I believe have also done or order him the iphone 4 as a kind of daddy to be suprise :haha:

I know this isnt important at all and is a bit daft but what would you do? Though I would see how many ladies think like me :haha:  Lmao.

Wow lucky DH, my gift to DH is a baby. If anyone deserves a present it's me!! lol. And of course DS will be getting one from the baby!

Lol. Hes more than happy with just the baby and he doesnt know my find but I do like to treat him sometimes and know how frustrated he is getting with his phone :D I was lucky enough to get a new one earlier this year. :)

IPhone 5 is rumoured to be out soon... You might want to wait for that instead as contracts tie you in for so long nowadays

how much is the cancellation fee to cancel orange? will that be more or less than paying monthly until the contract runs out? If you can do it financially, then I say go for it. Its a great gift and I'm sure your hubby will appreciate it!

ETA: I agree with the above poster, iPhone 5 is rumored to be released in October...

Nooo go into vodafone and ask them about their price plans, they do better deals and also if you say "oh actually i'm not sure it's a bit much i might just try 02 or something" then they'll probably comprimise a cheaper price with you. That's what i did and a lot of people do :) xxx

Yeah but the contract fees on that will be crazy to start unless you pay towards the phone. :haha: Lol. He got the iphone 3gs last feb I think (a year maybe more after it come out) And just so frustrating as he has been with orange for years but they have stopped doing the unlimited internet which makes a massive difference with these sorts of phones I think as they are constantly using the net. I have a HTC and I can switch my internet off which I do if I go over my usage :D

why don't you pop into the phone shops and see what offer they can do some now give you cash back to buy out the old contract my mom got £150 to take out a new contract before her old one ended and that paid for it.

Thanks. Not sure if would be worth it as orange not offering the unlimited internet package. Not sure why they have all stopped doing them!!

Ok heres my suggestion... the cancelations of any contract is montly payment x how many months left of contract... if u really want to get it possibly go into phones 4 u and see if they will pay off ur contract to get a new one (yes they do it they done it for me and i got a new iphone white 3gs when they first come out) or...
have both running... but with the old contract take the monthly payments down to the lowest one they allow think its only one drop every 3 months.. then when u get to a comfortable payment pay it off... possibly sell your old phone on mazuma mobile and get some cash to help pay of the old conract??

Thanks. I am a bit wary of phones4u as when I worked for vodafone they caused all sorts of problems for us customer service advisors :D The current contract is like £36 a month so possible it would be too much for them to consider paying off? Original contract was done through orange shop.

I have considered dropping tariff but not sure if orange allow it  I have thought about selling old phone and using towards paying off old contract. Not sure he would get much for the little shed though  :haha: Will check out the site you said though!!! I am also gonna check quidco as I used them to take out contract with sky and got £65 cashback!!! :happydance:

phones 4 u are crapy but use em if u know what ur going in for they can be a good tool to use...
Orange will allow u to drop the contract but it will be one lower per 3 months... if u just say theres a baby on the way u dont do unlimited internet ect ect... they normally do drop it

The unlimited internet is integrated into the actual package so not charged extra for it. Lol. I have found that 3 do a contract £40 a month for 2000 mins 5000 texts and unlimited internet and I can get £109 cashback through quidco! :)

Yeah but it will put down the price of the iphone 4 contracts..

I'm not sure how T-mobile working the UK exactly but i know here its hugely known that although the internet package is unlimited after a set amount is used they slow your connection down to something barely useable!

False advertising in my books!

Yup Orange do this also. If something like over 2-3gb is used they slow usage down for a month or so.

Good thinking. I am considering going with Three at the moment as they have a really good tariff and can get £109 cashback. Had bad experience with them in the past but that was with the LG phones and it was bout 7 years ago :haha:
