Hi hon

Well Charlies jabs are meant to be next Thursday :( but DH is away and the baby clinic times clash with the school run so unless my MIL can get Oliver for me from school I will have to put it off until the following week :dohh:

Am not too bad hon .... a bit tearful if am honest  how are you and Jack?

:hugs: do you think its just baby blues or the start of pnd? i had pnd bad with James and Harry so have been worried it will return, so far apart from me been occasionally bad tempered and shouting at Allan and the older 2 over trivial things i've been fine, the moodiness could just be my hormones i am still waiting for my 1st AF so it could well be on its way. If you ever want to chat, let me know xxx

Jack had his jabs, which weren't very nice, i took him some milk to try and calm him a bit and it did work after he screamed for a good 2 mins and i mean screamed bless him, he could hardly breathe he cried that much, he is now sleeping quite contendedly. A his check she did mention that his soft spot is too small and i've to keep a eye on it, i asked what it would mean and she said if it closes too soon it won't leave enough room for his brain to grow so he made need a operation but not to worry about it just yet, it wasn't till i got home i realised she didn't explain exacttly what i was doing to keep a eye on it and what sort of time frame he had before it could close, so i rang the hv who didn't have a clue either, she told me to phone dr's back and ask for the dr to ring me, so i'm waiting for my phone call, no doubt she'll ring while i'm at school :dohh:

Oh no hon bloody silly Dr  I hope shes just been over cautious  keep me posted with what she says when she calls back :hugs:

Thank you for your offer of a chat  I think its just hormones I had PND with Oliver and I do feel so different this time :)

Aww Madly :hugs: I hope it is just your hormones. Mine are still all over the place and I still get very weepy at times...

Im not looking forward to Luke's jabs, we have our 6 week doctors appointment on Friday so I will finally see how much he now weighs. I haven't been able to get to any baby clinics as my surgery is at The Light and you need an appointment (but can never get through to make one!!) theres one at Burmantofts health centre and another in Little London but Aaron wont let me walk to them (he's very protective - bless him)

I took Luke on his very first bus journey today to the White Rose to meet my old manager. Is it me or are bus drivers the most ignorant people on the planet??? He tutted at me when I got on his EMPTY bus with my pushchair - I could understand if it was full but there was no one on it!

I cant believe how fast Luke is growing - he's fitting nicely into 0-3 month clothing now - I want him to stay tiny forever... lol

Ohh actually do you know of any mother and baby or breastfeeding clinics that are withing walking distance of the centre Madly?? Im still a little lost in Leeds (only lived here a year lol) xx

Hello ladies,
Dr phoned me back and said i've got to get hv to measure Jack's head everytime he gets weighed to check its within the correct range, she also said the earliest his soft spot can close fully is 4 months if it closes before there maybe problems, so its a waiting game now.
How r u both? xx

Hi

Luke had his 6 week check up today and he now weighs 11lbs exactly. He's running perfectly to the 50th centile. We're booked in for the 8th July for his jabs which Im not looking forward to

Im getting more and more confident at feeding Luke in public now, was in town with Aaron's mum and niece the other day and his mum kept asking me if I wanted covering up when I was feeding him lol!! I was whipping my boobs out everywhere :haha:

Hope you're both ok? xx

 at whipping boobs out everywhere rwll :haha: its great you feel so confident that you dont mind feeding Luke in public

Charlie is due his jabs this Thursday but I got a letter asking me to go the week after instead so I have a weeks grace to brace myself  Its just as well really cause this Thursday is the teacher strike day and Olivers school is closed so am kinda glad I dont have to trail both kids to the clinic with me just incase Oliver decides to be a monkey :dohh:

Glad the Dr got back to you about measuring Jacks head Bernie  how are you?

As for us Charlie was weighed on Wednesday and he is now at total weight gain since birth of only 10oz  hes currently 10lb 14oz now  I have literally had him to the Drs every week of his life :( and the feeling is now that although he `may` have colic there is infact something else wrong which is why he isnt gaining weight and is still only taking 2-3oz max :sad1: Apparently even the worst colic/reflux doesnt stop a baby gaining weight and so this is not the reason :nope: The general feeling is that he has an intolerance to the formulas and quite likely its a lactose intolerance  On Thursday night he screamed the house down again and after two hrs of been unable to soothe him DH went out to the chemist and bought colief drops our last resort because we have tried absolutely everything else  I dont if you Ladies know about colief drops but they break down lactose in the formula (you add them to babys bottle!) some formulas are laden with sugars some more than others and some babies just cant tolerate the sugar content :( which is why some babies have a preference to one formula than another :dohh: they may have a `slight` intolerance and may appear happier on one formula than another because of the sugar content  basically cow and gate is one of the least rich formulas on the market which is why Charlie has settled on it more than other milks but it still hasnt totally cured the issue and hes still refusing to feed more often than not which is probably why we have very little weight gain :sad1: Me and DH both feel we have exhausted every avenue we can as parents and the colief drops do appear to be helping  since we started putting it in his bottles hes been more settled except last night when he screamed for a few hours but we both think this was because he was over tired and wouldnt give in and sleep  he doesnt seem to sleep as much during the day when Oliver is around :dohh: he likes the quiet and Oliver is very noisy bless him  We have been referred back to paediatrics at the LGI to see a consultant called Dr Campbell (I think!) who specialises in babies who dont gained weight well  If he does have a lactose intolerance it may mean a special milk  should get an appointment this week fxed  It so bloody heartbreaking when hes so hungry but wont feed  he looks at me with these pleading eyes which seem to say `help me Mummy!` and I feel totally helpless but despite how hard things are I am proud of myself for coping as well as I am :)

Hello ladies,
How r u both?
RWLL well done for whipping ur boobs out in public, you are right to be proud to breastfeed, i love ue breastfeeding in public blinkie :happydance: xx
Madly, i'm so sorry ur still having problems with Charlie, i hope ur appt comes thru soon and they find a solution. You r right to be proud of yourself you have done really well to cope with it all, hopefully they will try Charlie on lactose free milk and he'll be more comfortable drinking it and have no pain, since they put Jack on lactose free milk he has been a completely different baby and he was near where near as bad as Charlie is, i'm thinking of you and hope you get sorted soon :hugs: xx

As for us not a lot to report, Jack has just gone into 3-6 month clothes, they are still a little roomy but his 0-3 were getting a bit snug and in this heat i didn't want him wearing clothes that will make him overheat more, he has had a unsettled few days/nights, don't know if that is cause of heat or last weeks injections or a bit of both, poor thing it breaks my heart when he's unhappy, he's also not drinking as much per feed but again i think that is the heat. Hope ur both well xx

hi bernie hon,

still bad over here a nightmare weekend of almost all day screaming its breaking my heart .... back at drs at 4.10pm I think he is lactose intolerant but a few mums on here and googling online seems to say LI is very rare babes in the uk and its more likely cows milk protein intolerance .... I just hope our GP will help I feel like a crap mummy cause all my baby does is scream!

charlie has started to wear some 3-6mth clothes too lol the ones that are `small` 3-6mths

sorry for my crap typing and reply typing one handed lol

They r growing too quick, with Jack been my last I wanted him to stay little for longer lol. Its not a lactose intolerance they think Jack has it is a cows milk protein allergy, they think, as soon as i read ur post i realised i was wrong earlier lol the milk he's on is according to the tin for management of cows milk allergy, soya (protein) allergy and lactose intolerance.
How did u get on at the dr's xx

Hi, sorry ive been awol from here but my laptop is doing my head in - its constantly connecting then disconnecting, its been doing it for a week now and no one knows why  ive just slammed the lid down and slung it on the side lol! Im glad ive got my HTC though its hard to type on it when Luke is being so clingy... xx

:hugs: for laptop probs rwll :( hope you and luke are well otherwise

How are you and Jack Bernie?

We never got to the Drs in the end because we got a consultant appointment for this morning so didnt think there was any point :)

HERES AN UPDATE FROM OUR CONSULTANT APPOINTMENT

So we got there for 9am our appointment time and just like baby clinic Charlie was weighed and his height was taken before we saw the consultant  We were both  to find Charlie is now 11lb 4oz and has gained 6oz in only 6 days  he is now exactly 1lb above his birthweight :happydance:

We were then called into see the Consultant ..... I started at the beginning and told the consultant the whole complete story detailing everything we have tried and changed since Charlie was born ..... I also went through how he behaves when feeding and all the odd behaviour he displays  I told her what both myself and DH felt was wrong (LI or possibly CMPI!) also explaining that since Charlie was weighed last wednesday we started colief drops (which breaks down lactose in milk making it easier to digest and absorb) on Thursday and in only 6 days he has gained 6oz which is his biggest weight gain so far and that we felt it was down to the colief drops breaking down the lactose making it easier for him to feed more  I also mentioned Charlies `not breathing` episode the other night ..... after she examined Charlie, asked us a million questions and wrote her notes she went to speak to her colleague for advice  She came back to say her colleague was coming in to talk to us  In came her colleague who started to throw figures at us and waffle on about how babies have to adjust in the outside world and then basically said Charlie has colic :saywhat: and that he was happy to review the situation in 4wks but right now he didnt think it was neccesary to make any changes :sad1: He told me Charlies `not breathing` episode the other night is completely normal in new born babies :saywhat: and that his weight gain is perfectly normal and not to worry because `hes a big baby` and basically he wont always eat like a `big baby` ..... At this point I began to get a little annoyed and told the consultant up front there was no way I was leaving and sitting tight for 4wks with the way things were :nope: thats Charlie weight gain is not perfectly normal :nope: ok so yes he `might` just be a slow gainer but that doesnt explain why he only feeds 2-3oz per feed when by now he should be heading for double that  I explained that Oliver was at birth only 1oz bigger than Charlie and at 6wks old he weighed 11lb 4oz (the same as Charlie is today!) and I was told then that Oliver was not gaining enough weight so to be told now my 2nd son whos two weeks older than Oliver was then is at a perfectly fine weight is complete crap :growlmad: I also told him that I am aware colic disappears around the three month mark and that his theory of sending us away for 4 weeks until Charlie is three months in the hope that it is colic wouldnt wash either because I felt sure we would be back in a worse state than we are now and I was not willing to let that happen :trouble: He still tried to argue with me that babies get unsettled sometimes blah blah blah .... I argued back that yes they do am an experienced Mummy but when your holding your baby and hes screaming the house down day after day there is something wrong when hes not even happy in his Mummys arms :sad1: I told them I believe my baby cried through hunger and when offered the bottle he was desparate to take but wouldnt because for some reason he was in pain/scared to feed whatever and I then played a recording I took on my phone of Charlie screaming yesterday  cruel as it sounds I made them listen and I made it clear I would no longer be allowing my baby to get into this state every day for the next 4 weeks and as parents we have tried everything in our power to solve this alone but now we need professional help and by god they were going to give us it  He then went to speak to his colleague whilst the consultant we first saw continued to question us :( I was so upset and  by this point but I made my feelings perfectly clear .... still she spouted crap and I got up to leave resigning myself to the fact that these people werent going to help and I was better pushing for our GP to do a stool sample to test Charlie for allergies ect  We were told stool results would be back in 48hrs max and DH asked for a follow up appointment next week but they wouldnt give us one initially saying `its too early to see you after this appointment!` :saywhat: what we didnt understand was that a follow up appointment would give us results and quite possibly treatment for Charlie so was totally appropriate considering the circumstances but they didnt see it this way :nope: I commented to DH that we should just go out and buy lactose free milk and trial it (sma do it!) but the consultant said we could cause serious damage if he wasnt LI and we were giving him lactose free milk :( her colleague the other consultant then came back after speaking to his colleague to say they had spoken at great lengths (we were waiting about 30mins!) and they were happy to trial a lactose free milk for 2 weeks (we questioned what the other consultant said and this is perfectly safe btw) and then we are to return to see a dietician to discuss further :happydance: we also have to send off a stool sample  ..... So after way more fuss than was required because we were speaking to two total tools who in my eyes arent fit to do their jobs properly we are trialing Charlie on Nutramigen  He will have his first bottle in the next few hours so wish us luck

Sorry ur having laptop trouble Rwll, i hate it when they play up, how r u and Luke? x

OMG Madly what a day you've had, i can't believe those dr's well done for standing upto them, you have the same milk Jack is on? how did u get on with his 1st feed? i found Jack wasn't keen to begin with so i tasted it and that explained why, its got a bit of a odd taste, i thought normal baby milk was funny tasting but this is even funnier lol, Jack soon got used to his, we still have some days where he cries for no apparent reason but he is so much better and definately more settled on it, good luck i hope this is the solution you've been waiting for xx

Hi Ladies

Well Charlie wouldnt take the milk too well and although we had a reasonable night this morning the screaming and frustration over refusing to feed continued for him :sad1: I rang paediatrics who told me I had to wait until Tuesday to even speak with a Dr :saywhat: so out of desparation I call our Drs surgery and managed to get an appointment with our fantastic senior Dr :) who has prescribed Charlie gaviscon infant  hes told me to hold on to the nutrimigen but go back to giving him cow and gate with the gaviscon in it until LI is def confirmed .... I got a poop sample this eve so will drop into my surgery tomorrow for it to be lab tested  Charlie has had 3 bottles of cow and gate with gaviscon in it and I say tentively it seems to be working :) The Dr thinks he has colic combined with silent reflux which is why he cries practically all day cause one or the other is bothering him :( I am trying out his theory cause I have nothing to loose and we are running out of options now! I also went to Asda today and have bought a tin of cow and gate comfort milk for reflux and colic babies which also has less lactose in than normal formulas ..... this is my back up plan :dohh:

My day started off crap and long story but just got worse and worse :( I have  on and off all day but I am feeling better now :)

How is everyone else?

awww hun :hugs: I cant believe what you have been through over the past few days!! I hope they can get it sorted for you soon.

I had our 6 week check up on Friday and was quite surprised that all my doctor did was check my uterus had retracted... I was expecting at least my BP being checked  Luke is doing great though, he weighed 11lb exactly - but he's growing out of clothes so fast now!!
Ive just ordered one of those inkless hand/foot print kits from ebay. I noticed you had done one Madly, are they easy to do??
I sold my Foo Fighters tickets too :( they turned up yesterday and was a little upset that I arent going but there is no way I could leave Luke for a whole day/night just yet. Plus I made almost £50 profit on the tickets - I dont care that I sold them to a friend

How are you bernie? xx

Madly massive :hugs: fingers crossed the gaviscon is just what Charlie needed, I really feel for you, there is nothing worse than a crying baby especially when its almost constant and there's nothing u can do about it, i really hope you get it sorted xx

Not alot to report here, had a boring day, going to sort my kitchen cupboards out 2moro, i keep saying i'm going to and never actually get round to doing it lol so hopefully i'll manage it 2moro xx

Thank you Ladies :hugs:

Right now I alternate between feeling like am managing well and feeling like I cant cope :sad1: we are slowly getting there with this though I feel sure

rwll the print kit was so easy  I love our prints :dohh:

Bernie fxed you get those kitchen cupboards sorted

rwll I dont blame you for not wanting to leave Luke I wouldnt want to leave Charlie either :nope:

Im supposed to be having a washing day - got a huge pile of clothes that need putting away after washing constantly for the past few days and theres still 2 full baskets to wash!!! does it ever stop!? :dohh:

Finally got Luke off to sleep for a bit so gonna go get all the clothes put away while he's sleeping. I think he realised this morning that he slept through his 3am feed as after he woke up at 8 and had a feed he wanted another at 9:30, then again at 11am so seems to be catching up

I really hope that it is going to work for you and Charlie, keeping everything crossed for you  xx
