I need to get an ingrown toenail removed with local anesthesia in the next week or so. Is this safe while pregnant? Also can a small toe infection be harmful during the first tri?

depends what the use. They could use marcaine (bupivicaine) or lidocaine. lidocaine is safe marcaine is preg category C, so potentially unsafe. Also, local anesthetics often are mixed with epinephrine to help prevent bleeding and that is also potentially unsafe. I think you should be ok as long as you confirm with the doc that you are pregnant and he uses the right stuff.

As for a toe infection... I guess if it stays in your toe it should be fine, but any time you have a localized infection you run the risk of having it spread to your whole system, so yes, it could potentially be dangerous.

Hopefully you get everything sorted out. :flower:

Hello, hope all is well. How did everything go? Did you get the surgery done? I did it last night and I am 5 months pregnant and a little worried!!

It went well! I've had probably 3 or 4 removed in total in both pregnancies, and everything went perfectly. Theres no need to worry :) Totally safe
