LO's bathing with Dad

Hi All

Me and OH take it in turns to have Mia in the bath with us. I was having a rant to a friend earlier about how OH always expects me to take Mia out of the bath for him when he has a bath with her, but when she's in the bath with me, he disappears downstairs into the conservatory with his music on so he can never hear me when I shout and ask him to take her out for me! :growl:

Anyway, my friend then starting saying how she thought it was weird and disgusting that Mia has baths with OH and sees him naked. I said that was the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard! He's her Dad and she's still still very young so I really don't see the problem with it. I could understand if she was older, but she's 16 months old!

So I was just wondering, does anybody find this 'weird', or 'disgusting'??

i think she is the one who has issues! seriously, whats going on in her head that can make her interpret that as disgusting....? i dont see anything wrong with it at all

OMFG!! i dont see any wrong with it at all, dont worry, when i am in a bath my kids pop in and out and chat away, i do cover up but come on theres no harm in! some parents walk about naked in their own houses in front of their kids, i dont do that i must add! but you read it in magazine and stuff!

My friend also doesnt bath her 3 kids together which i find strange, said its not right and disgusting her kids are 1,5 and 6

no that is not weird or disgusting!! does she have children? maybe if she doesn't she doesn't understand as I used to think it was abit disgusting when my dad told me I used to have a bath with him lmao but now I understand me/oh always have bath with Jake! xx

There's nothing wrong with it at all, but some people will find it disgusting.

My daughter is 3 and still has baths with me and her daddy and she loves it!

my son is nearly 2 and I bath twice a week with him. I think it's different when it's family.

tee heee, this reminds me of a story my friend's Mum told me. When she was little, she had a bath with her Dad, and one day when they both got out and were Daddy was drying himself, he bent over with her stood behind him. My friend apparently saw his "dangly bits" and promptly flicked them really hard! Lol!!! Apparently he pretty much jumped through the ceiling! Makes me pee myself thinking about it!

jack will be 2 soon and i still bath with him and so does his dad, i'm guessing the reason she has a problem is because hes a man and shes a little girl,but yet bet she wouldnt mind if its a little boy and his mum. double standard

I was just thinking about this some more and got quite upset about the idea that it's 'wrong' to be bathing with your LO. I absolutely love bathing with my son. it's such a special time. Your focus is completely on each other - you only have a few toys, you're all warm and relaxed. My son and I have some great 'conversations' in the bath

haha jess normally has a bath with me, he will til hes too big and wants his own bath, hes gone in with his dad a few times too, i dont see nothing wrong with it, weve always been pretty open in my family, god its only some boobs i still sit in the bathroom and talk to my mum when shes in the bath, i wouldnt with my dad though obviously ha x

Of course it's not disgusting! How ridiculous! I don't think there is any problem even as the child gets older, they'll tell you when they want to have a bath by themselves. You should take the opportunity to bathe with your kids while they allow it, cuz soon they'll be telling you to bugger off!

IMO if someone sees something wrong with that at such a young age they have serious issues lol My son bathed with me whe he was young and even now still does .. I think exposing children to the human body will only help them feel more comfortable in the later years .

But then again thats me I say until he starts to point and ask questions then he will bath with both of us lol

No, she doesn't have children herself (surprise surprise!). She is a bit strange though! After Mia's first birthday, I said I'd managed to fill her 3rd photo album with the pics and she thought that having 3 full photo albums in 12 months was 'a little excessive'!

I haven't known her for very long - she's one of OH's friends new girlfriends. I think from now on when they say they're coming 'round, I may have to 'be out' xx

Definately! She obviously has alot to say about parenting cuz she's such an expert!
