LOST: The Final Chapter - discussion/theory thread! **May Contain Spoilers!**

If they end up doing something along the lines of how that would be what happened IF they got off the Island, therefore showing that they were better off staying I'm going to be super pissed.

ME TOO!!!!

I need more than that!! I need answers!!!

I just watched the season 5 catchup again and am baffled!

The guy that was sat on the beach with Jacob, he was dressed in black, that is who the smoke monster is, because he said he wanted to kill Jacob and Jacob said he would have to find a "loophole"

Then just before Ben killed him he looked at Locke and said "well you found your loophole"

So I am thinking that it could be the whole God/devil thing. But I am unsure which is which !!

See that bit was shown on the recap before the last episode, and i dont remember it!! At all?!!!

See I thought that too Andrea, but then there was that part in last week's episode where I was like

Where Locke/Smoke Monster says that he wants to go home. Although I suppose 'home' could be anywhere, even hell... if that were the case?

i'm thinking devil/god as well, and the whole 7 deadly sins being jack sawyer etc. defo something religious. wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony fit all of them some way or another.
i can see me being pee'd at the ending i mean walt, eko whitmore etc whats all that about hmmmmm. how they going to explain everything.

ahhhh never thought of the 7 sins...!!!

So....

Hurley = Gluttony
Kate = Lust

who else?!

pride could be jin as well. as could envy

but pride could be too a few of them

there's a quote of which each one means on wikipedia

"Pride (vanity) — A desire to be important or attractive to others or excessive love of self (holding self out of proper position toward God or fellows; Dante's definition was "love of self perverted to hatred and contempt for one's neighbor"). In the Latin lists of the Seven Deadly Sins, pride is referred to as superbia. In Jacob Bidermann's mediaeval miracle play Cenodoxus - superbia is the deadliest of all the sins, and led directly to the damnation of the famed Doctor of Paris, Cenodoxus."
i over analyse lost terribly lol i'm probably way out

I do too Helen, I watched 2 episodes today to try and analyse it!

I am liking your thinking though I really do think it is religion of some sort now too, hurry up LOST I need to know!!!! :hissy:

they've basically formed an anarchy i wikipedia it found it really interesting, i think that lots of people have tried to rule the island, but it is actually an island with no ruler... right gonna stop now giving myself a headache :haha: i've had the same headache since sept 05 when it started lol

Anarchy (from Greek: ἀναρχίᾱ anarchíā, "without ruler") may refer to any of the following:

"No rulership or enforced authority."[1]
"Absence of government; a state of lawlessness due to the absence or inefficiency of the supreme power; political disorder."[2]
"A social state in which there is no governing person or group of people, but each individual has absolute liberty (without the implication of disorder)."[3]
"Absence or non-recognition of authority and order in any given sphere."[4]
"Act[ing] without waiting for instructions or official permission... The root of anarchism is the single impulse to do it yourself: everything else follows from this."

also i found this, buddha religion, and the wheel that they turn
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dharmacakra

I though about Buddha cos that big statue reminded me of it somehow!

Aaarrgghhh!! I love this :D:D

Helen...great find on the Wheel of Dharma :D:D xxx

and jacob gave the cross thing to hurley
which actually is the symbol of life in a religious term
according to eygptian religion which would contribute to all the markings on the wall.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ankh

there is a big eye on one of the walls somewhere if my memory is any good

just to add i read something about a circle of copper somewhere is this what they are sprinkling around themselves

See I remember a funny thing about the 4 toed statue from one of the extras in the DVD boxed seasons. I forget what one it was, but there was a commentary from the producers on how they never meant to elaborate on the 4 toed statue. But when it was first shown, people were like "OMG!!! The Statue!!!!" and they were like  and had to figure something out.

I think it was a musing on how the fans can focus on the most unexpected thing.

just looked at a picture of the 4 toe statue and its holding the anch symbol the same symbol jacob gave hurley in the suitcase to give to that guy in the tomb. hmmmmm

The statue was Taweret, an Egyptian goddess. :) Holding an Ankh makes sense, as its an Egyptian symbol as well.

Man! I wonder what's going to happen with Non-Locke and Sawyer going off the island!!!
