Sorry girls, just popping in quickly - will catch up on the most recent stuff soon and update properly soon I promise!!

Just wanted to anybody that isn't on my facebook know that I made the very sad and tough decision to stop breastfeeding and switch Lachlan on to formula  I made a thread here if anybody wants to read.https://www.babyandbump.com/breastfeeding/427680-gave-up-breastfeeding-morning.html

Oh Rosy. :hugs: It's OK it happens at some stage. What made you decide to switch to formula? I'm about to read your thread so sorry if you've already answered.

Will catch up in a moment...

Thanks chicky :hugs: It feels really odd and I feel quite lost but I just can't deal with him being so difficult...it really ruins things completely.

I'm off to read up on tips for stopping breastfeeding, apparently if you don't go about it the right way it's possible to develop mastitis and from what you've said I really don't want to get that lol xx

:coffee:.....

those who BLW- Is a slice of apple too small for them to hold? Easy to choke like??

Cocoa- how is M doing now hun? So sorry she is allergic to eggs! my SIL has to stop eating dairy products as she is breastfeeding and dairy doesnt go down too well for her daughter.

Julchen- What a fright! i am so glad poor bubi is OK! I am terrified of stuff like that heppening. It can happen to the best of us though :hugs:

April- i've already said welcome but thought i'd introduce myself. I'm Andi, i'm nearly 25 and my ella was born on the 16th March weighing 8lb7oz. We didn't have a very good start either. A horrible long slow labour, a nasty birth and the first couple of months struggling with PTSD and PND, but there really is a light at the end of all tunnels :hugs:

Kel- i'm just going to vote for Connor now  i can't wait to see photos of new haircut!

JJ- is baby massage good? Is it worth doing? I have the oppertunity to go learn how to do it. I love the pic of the trolley! I havn't done that yet!

GL- I have had Ella facing fowards in her pram 2ce. It's just easier to use the capsule travel system for now.

Ems- i'm sorry you have been having a tough time. I hope the osteo works :hugs:

Sorry if i have missed anybody. Will write a post on me and Ella soon, plus some piccies :)

xx

It's Sat night, just chilling with a wee glass of malibu and vanilla coke :coffee: Ella's fast asleep. on her tummy no dought!

been busy busy! had a full on week, mainly hanging with my SIL.
I had to go to the doctor the other day i got mastoiditis- an infection in the mastoid bone-0 the bone behind the ear. it was puffy and swollen and really really hurt so now i'm on antibiotics. It's feeling much better now.

Ella's all good. She moves around abit my rolling and doing 360's lol. Went massive clothes shopping for her the other day. got a dress some wee shorts they are so cute. oh and summer pjs.

No signs of teething yet. No bulges or anything funny.

I have been making tutu skirts for babies. i am selling them so if you ladies are keen I am making these and they are very small and light so wouldn't cost much to post.

I'll put some photos up soon. :)

El is eating a half jar of baby food- custard or fruit or museli and then a 3rd of a jar size in the evening of vege and meat. So although she isn't eating much she is eating good until she doesnt want anymore. She opens her mouth for the spoon, gets excited at rusks and is started to do the chewing motion!

Here's a few piccies of Ella...

aawww so cute Andi shes adorable and the skirts are cute too

Hi ladies :flowers:
a question for those doing blw .... Would love to gve Jesse stuff like that but I'm scared to death!! If I give him anything chunky he gags n choke n I End up in tears everytime.
What if he chokes?

hun their gag reflex is quite far forward in their mouths at the moment so if they gag they are still able to move it out of their mouths with their tounge so dont end up choking also as they are in control they are alot less likely to choke on it anyway, EJ hasnt had any serious gaging issues at all and he wil bite off bread and tomato and eat it lol
you stay with them the whole time but statisically they are more likely to have gagging and choking issues when fed from a spoon than when allowed to feed themselves, :hugs:

Id try with something easy for him to suck on but doesnt break down too much like a raw vegetable till he gets the hang of bring things to his mouth to eat them then move to something like wedges of tomato with the seeds removed , im only now starting to teach EJ how to use a spoon, although he gets porridge in the mornings im doing most of the feeding at the moment but i do get him to grab the spoon from me and i just hang onto the end to direct it towards his mouth

:coffee:.....

those who BLW- Is a slice of apple too small for them to hold? Easy to choke like??

Apple is fine in slices but i tend to peel it to make it a bit easier for him to eat, although its hard for them to actually eat to start with they suck on it more than bite it,
Melon / pear and things are easier as they can break them down more than apple

Will have to catch up soon, but quick update. My sister did manage to get an appointment with the nurse at the Drs. office. She had a positive urine and low positive blood pregnancy test, but they did an ultrasound and there is absolutely no baby. She hasn't had any bleeding though. She has an appointment with the Dr. for a followup in a few weeks.

Mika has ANOTHER cold, so he's being a bit cranky today, but I'm off to finish watching the OU/Texas game (its our big football rivalry)... I love OU/TX weekend!

MM - very cute pics! You definitely look like you've been busy!

BNK - probably for the best, although a bit weird?! I hope she gets to the bottom of it. Maybe a slight hormone inbalance or something?

M is ok now. Her temperature stayed high yesterday but calpol kept it lower so she was a bit more comfortable. I guess I'm just going to have to learn to cook things without egg for her! I'll probably wait until she's 1 and then give her something with a little bit of egg in to see what happens.

She had a bit of pasta with pesto for dinner tonight (although I don't think she swallowed much!) but dairylea on rice cakes was a bigger hit. I need to get some Philly though because I think that's lower in salt than dairylea.

Off to bed - M was awake at 5:30 again this morning so I'm shattered.

hope you all had a good night, mine was good after a late late evening till EJ woke at 6.20 :coffee: so now him and I are up and waiting on DH and Nate to get up so i can cook breakfast

can you tell me exactly what baby lead means? I know what bl weaning is but just not in general.

Baby led just means you follow the babies lead. So you don't impose strict nap times or feeding times etc. You feed on demand (usually just milk though - while point of BLW is they just have food when you would normally have it because they aren't actually 'hungry' for solid food yet), let them nap when they are tired instead of making them have a nap at 1pm everyday regardless. Does that make sense?

Basically you follow your babies cues and needs instead of what a baby 'expert' tells you to do....

thats what i do- follow her cues. she feeds and sleeps when she wants to

Theres no way I could impose nap times on M. Her sleep is still so random, some days she wakes at 6:30, most days 7, but Shea just started sometimes waking up at 8. So if I made her nap at 10 for example- some days she'd be over tired and others she wouldn't be tired at all!

I think I'm coming down with something  Got a headache, burning eyes and I'm starting to ache all over. And my temperature is 37.4 which is high for me - I usually run in the low 36's. I hope I get over it quickly- I'm dreading looking after M when I'm properly ill. My cousin gets awful migraines, I've no idea how she copes with her two girls and a bad head.

Hope everyone's Sunday is going well so far x

MM - quickly while i remember and before the monkey manages the bac flip he's trying to so while still latched, apple is fine raw as long as it's cut into very thin slices. Raw apple in chunks can very easily break off into choking sized pieces.dunno PO vmsvwh

... and everything after pieces is Ronan having his say on the matter!

:happydance: I got my new siggy! :happydance:
MM- I gave Connor raw apple for the first time yesterday and he just had fun sucking and chewing on it. I love the tutus, If I had a girl I would make tutu too!
Cocoa- I hope you feel better soon!

For the ladies that do BLW I have a question about meat. I don't want to give pureed meat cause that just seems gross, but I am also uncomfortable with giving him pieces of meat too. So how do you give your babies meat?
I did make chicken salad yesterday and he seem to like that but I don't know how else to serve it.

Kel, I do the meat sized so he can hold it and he basically just sucks on it. Gabriel had a gherkin pickle last night and I've never seen him so happy with a food item. He hasn't really discovered chewing yet.

Ronan sucks on most meat too as he's got no teeth yet to tear it. Chicken i cut into long thin strips diagonal against the grain so it kind of flakes but doesn't crumble and he can chew and swallow what breaks off, if that makes sense?

Love the sig too!

Seity, ronan seems to love sour stuff too. He's constantly surprising me as to what takes his fancy. Last night he ate almost 6 whole chinese style chicken dumplings and was looking for more!

rwhite, I don't want to forget but well done for making it to 6 months. I hope the transition isn't too difficult for both of you.
