May Mummy's 2012

Probably sounds weird but what do you ladies do all day? I have no other children so there's no school run etc to do. I feel like I spend my time literally feeding Logan, changing him & trying to get him to sleep! I take him & the dogs out for a walk every day for about an hour and he sleeps the whole time but wakes up as soon as we're home.

I do see family and friends as well but find that I try to time it so well that I don't need to feed while I'm out. Am I the only one?

That pretty much sounds like my day too Irish!

Look after Johnny, do the house work and pop out for a few hours if the weather is nice. I'm looking forward to when he's a bit more alert so I can take him to some groups xo

Glad it's not just me then! Felt like I was maybe missing out on the new mums club! No-one really tells you about the first few weeks & I keep wondering if I'm doing things right.

My 2 cousins came to visit yesterday & they each have 4 young kids. When they both told me they co-slept for the first few months I felt so much better!

I've never needed so much reassurance with anything in my life!

I'm exactly the same, trying to be on time is such a challenge with a newborn, especially a super screamy one who fights you when trying to dress her lol

I've taken to having Lexi in her cot to start with but by 2am she's usually in my bed with me - she sleeps much longer! I'd crack up otherwise I'd think! The only danger seems to be to me since she waves her arms about in her sleep and managed to punch me on the nose :(

Hello ladies, hope you are all doing well. I feel the same Tay.. I feel Ive just fed her, then she needs changed, then she'll sleep for a wee bit so I run around crazy doing housework then it starts all over again!!! I'm sure it will settle down (fingers crossed!!)

Health visitor was here today.. Emily has gone from 7lbs 15 to 9lbs 4oz in 2 weeks!!
I'm so pleased that she is gaining weight and thriving but my mother in law has her own opinions..........
I text her to say about the weight gain and she wrote back saying 'I'm not surprised, you seem to be feeding her alot' I was fecking raging!!!!! Who does she think she is!!

My own mother and friends all wrote back saying along the lines of.. well done you, emily is obviously getting what she needs and your obviously doing so well breasfeeding her. My MIL is just a witch!!!!!
Sorry for the rant..... lol

Lollipop - I can't wait to start going to some groups, what are you all planning on signing up for?
I'm going to a breastfeeding group think tomorrow at the health centre where mums all meet to chat and socialise - hoping to pick up some tips!

Rara - Emily flings her arms around too when she sleeps! She hates being swaddled coz she likes her arms being free.

Sooooooo looking forward to a good drink but like you say Tay... one wkd and I'd be legless!! xx

Hi lovely ladies

Feeding, rocking changing, it's just the same here, but with me telling a toddler no inbetween ha ha.

It really does settle down, I'm enjoying it as I know it will calm down soon. Last time I felt just the same as I had no idea what I was doing, if it was right and if it would end but it does.

Ava is great in her pram during the day for sleeps. At night she starts off in her moses basket but by 4 am she's in with me. Will wakes up at 6 am and typically she goes back in there then.

Our unsettled evenings have calmed down so can only assume it was a growth spurt as she now weighs 10 lb 9 oz, what a chunk! Clare that's an awesome weight gain, and def shows the bfing is going great, your MIL is probably jealous that she didn't do that well xx

Irish, I'm impressed you are walking the dogs, ours has to wait for DH.

Lollipopbop, I did lots of groups last time, baby massage was good. I didn't rate baby yoga though. Sing and sign when they are bigger is fab. Not sure I'll have time this time but will def try and do sing and sign again x

Clare my Mum is a nightmare for being condesending, not so much in what she says, it's watch she doesn't. I think I've annoyed her doing so well during the birth - result!!

Will is at nursery today and so me and Ava do jobs and girl stuff. Well I do anyway! I love these two quiet days as all the others are spent dragging her along behind Will.

My rash finally seems to be improving, thank goodness.

A friend from work had a baby 10 days before me and they are in hospital as he has viral menengitis. I feel awful for her and can't stop worrying about my two.

oh and I've been naughty and had the odd glass of wine here and there!

I don't know where the day goes. Even though I have 3 my day also invokes mostly feeding nappy changing and cuddling. I have a very cuddly baby! I also have potty emptying, playing pirates and building towers lol! Haven't been out much because the weather has been so crap only been to the park once and shopping a couple of times.
I'm allowed to drive now so that's not so bad.

Also carter has chicken pox hope to god Taylor doesn't get it. :(

I will be having a cheeky glass of wine the weekend as its our wedding anniversary.

Clare, I don't know how you put up with your mil bet you do a lot of gritting your teeth! I think some people don't like us breastfeeding because it means lo is dependant on us, meaning they can't have them for a feed! :hugs:

Have a good day :) x x

Mare I completely agree with that, people don't always like you breastfeeding as it makes them feel left out. I always said that if BFing didn't work out then I would be happy to bottle feed, but wanting to get an extra hours sleep at night isn't a good enough reason for me! Some women would love to BF and physically can't, I've been blessed with being able to so I'm not stopping now!

I'm jealous of you ladies whose babies will go into their moses baskets at all! Logan did it for a couple of days but now he's back to waking after 10 minutes! I do the housework with him strapped to me! My neighbours must think I'm one of those hippy mums who won't put their baby down but it's the only way anything gets done!

Clare & Vicky that's amazing weight gains, Logan has his on Tuesday and I'm hoping for similar! He's feeding often enough!

Chloe I've started looking at groups as well. One near me does swimming, socialising etc which looks good. Just need to get my confidence up to go by myself! Isn't it strange that at work I manage a large team, represent my company in Court & head divisional meetings yet I can't get my baby to sleep in his own bed & I'm nervous about going to the mums meetings alone cause I don't want to be the "new girl!"

Glad to hear everyone's doing okay, our babies are nearly a month old! (most of yours already are!) xx

It does feel strange that Lexi is a month now as labour feels like it was years ago to me! I know what you mean about not being the 'new girl' but I'm a totally shy person in general...unless I'm super hacked off! :haha:

Lexi had a normal weight gain this week! She's now 9lbs 10oz! My wee chunky monkey lol! She also smiled for the first time today! (she's smiled in her sleep lots before but now she's actually smiling AT me :D ) very happy and it's just too cute!

Clare, I too don't know how you could quietly put up with you mil! What a cheek!

Hope everyone's well!

Emily has started smiling too.. It's so lovely!!
MIL came out with another cracker yesterday when she was changing Emily's nappy.. She said 'oh what rubbish has your mum been eating.. Look at the colour of your poo!!!'
It was exactly the colour poo should be... Chris stuck up for me (just as well...!!) she's doing my head in completely!!

Anyways, just managed to finally get little miss Emily off to sleep, anyone else feel its getting harder at night times?!

Cxx

You need a medal for putting up with that one Clare! Yea sleep is something I've long forgotten now haha Lexi has discovered the art of fighting sleep, she's pretty good at it too! I'm beginning to wonder about silent reflux with her though since she wakes a lot, hiccups alot and is still frequently eating even with now being on hungry baby formula! Any ideas anyone?

Sleep has been completely forgotten here! Logan is really good at fighting sleep as well, it's so difficult!

I don't know how you put up with rude MIL's!! It's shocking what people think they can get away with saying. You girls are doing great with BF, think it's awful that people are trying to discourage it.

Irish - I'm the same. I'm trying to pluck up the courage to go in to a baby group, it's so new for me. I don't know many people with baby's that live close so baby group it is! Baby signing is the one I really want to do.

Johnny's smiling too, it's so lovely.. he's always very smiley in the mornings. Going to get him weighed this week, he's a right chunk so I'm expecting a good weight gain.

Also - How's everyone's LO's belly button looking? Johnny's hasn't healed yet and it still scabs up, is this normal? I may book in to see the GP just to make sure xo

Lexis belly button has healed now but she may of just been really quick?

Today I discovered I need a group which may go through nursery rhymes since I couldn't think of any and ended up singing 'pretty fly for a white guy' to Lexi lol

Chloe - Logans belly button has healed completely so you could probably do with getting Johnnys checked. At our Surestart centres they have Midwives there twice a week who will check things like that, maybe you have them near you?

I don't know anyone near me with babies although 2 of my friends are pregnant.

We exchanged contracts on our house today and move on 2nd August, so excited! I know Logan won't be in his room for ages but I can't wait to decorate it! Have you ladies decided how many kids you want? I always thought we'd have 2 but we've been talking about not having anymore now?

Hi ladies,

Clare I feel for you so much you must have the patients of a saint !

Taylor's been very clingy the last few days when he's not on the boob he just wants picking up all the time thank god for my baby carrier.
He got weighed today he's 10lb 4oz the little chunk.

I actually had a cheeky glass of wine! I wasn't quite on the floor.

I already have 3 now as you know and we're not planning on having anymore. I do feel really sad about it though. Knowing in never going to be pregnant or go through child birth again. :'(
I love having 3 and I'm treasuring every min of Taylor being a baby cus they grow up too quick x

Irish - I felt like that after my first and we waited 5 years before having another one :)

I really didn't like being pregnant and I really hated giving birth! I always thought I'd have children close together like me & my brother (only 13 months between us) but I can't see that happening!

How do you find having a 5 year difference? Do they still get on? Can they play together?

I hated being pregnant and had an awful 12 hour back labour which ended up with epi and vontuse delivery with stitches inside and out.
With my first. I was terrified of going through that again but my second couldn't have been any different. I discovered raspberry leaf lol. I had a 1 hour and 20 min labour just gas and air when pushing and not many stitches I had such a lovely labour and birth.

They get on really well. They play together lovely now too. Don't get me wrong I do have the odd fight but mostly they are great. I also had the added bonus of my daughter being at full time school so I could still have my naps in the day lol!

Irish never say never! There's no rush Hun :flower:
