Movements with an anterior placenta

Third pregnancy...Twins. First time with Anterior placenta for both babies. I felt movement at 13 1/2 weeks. At 20+1 I felt my first kick from the outside. Haven't felt another yet though. I do feel babies pushing there bums out and the spot is really firm though.

This is my first pregnancy and I suspected I had an anterior placenta as everyone keeps asking me, "oh have you felt her move/kick?" I am 21 weeks and I have felt not a thing. SO at my 20 week scan I asked my doctor about it. She stated I carry in the front and therefore might not feel anything until later. I came home to research and found out "carrying in the front" is an anterior placenta. She could have at least used the term to help me out with an explanation. Anyway, I suspect I will continue to feel no flutters or movement until its more significant...like a full on kick. But I dont know what that is supposed to feel like so I hope I recognize it as such.

I'm pretty sure I have an anterior placenta.. I've had flutters since around 18wks, but nothing stronger since. The flutters have been more like tickles to me though. I've had some twinges for the last wk or so, I'm not sure if they're kicks or muscle spasms :/

Found out today at 17 weeks I have an anterior placenta. I felt my first flutter at 14 weeks, then not again until a few days ago. It's few and far between. Really hoping for some kicks soon! I know baby is very active. :)

Second pregnancy, anterior

Felt small little flutters around 17-18 weeks but only once or twice every few days.

Now 22 weeks and babys going nuts!

Thank you all, seems around 17/18 weeks is standard with second pregnancy and later for the first. I know my baby is very active, as it's been wriggling around like mad at every scan we've had and I hear lots of movements through the Doppler every day! I'm just getting impatient, haha!

I could have posted this thread! FTM and I knew I had AP from 12 week scan. Since about 16 weeks I've been feeling weird tickles or more sharpish stabby pain in my pelvic region (left, right, or at my cervix I guess?). I could totally use an anatomy lesson haha. But I don't know if it's baby or just things stretching. A couple of days a go I felt a roll, kind of like a fish flopping or something...and nothing since. I am 21 weeks and change.

I get so nervous because I feel like by now I should feel some movement? I am a relatively small person also...planning on a follow up to make sure everything is ok. Thanks for the post. Helps to see that the timing varies so widely.

Ok so, the last three days I've been feeling tons of movement, On the outside! Yay! Right now laying in bed watching him move ☺☺☺☺☺❤❤❤❤❤ so happy! Finally!

1st pg to get this far. Found out i have high ant placenta, felt odd twinges (like when you have been shopping all day then sit down and your legs do that muscle creep?) around 17 wks. Used doppler at home at 19 wks and the twinges coincided with the bloop noise and then really felt it for sure last week (20 w) away camping as on airbed and laying still.

Cannot feel anything behind my bellybutton but plenty of jiggles to the left, right and by pubic bone. I described it a few weeks ago like it felt like my elastic in my underwear had broken and they were falling down. Lol!

I was getting flutters on & off & that's pretty much it really. He was really active yesterday & then not so much today. I am feeling so impatient& am desperate to feel him kick properly! While it's glitters, we don't count it, do we? I'm not sure if I should be concerned that I have entire days of nothing..

Has anyone that was waiting to start feeling things, felt anything yet..? Still nothing for me..!

I felt something last night for the first time. SOmeone on the boards here told me to drink oj and I did and just relaxed in a recliner last night. I felt like a bubble in my stomach and then a minute later another one. I felt several when I was still and not moving. Once I got up and started moving around I didnt notice it again. Im 23 weeks and just now feeling her move. FINALLY! I compared it to a toddler sitting in your lap and farting through their diaper. It felt similar! LOL

Hahaha, adr75050, that's hilarious!!

I've been getting little movements here & there. It mostly feels like massive gas bubbles in my lower abdomen. I'm still getting tickles higher up, where the placenta is, but lower down I feel him more. The movements aren't regular by any means yet though & I can go several days without feeling him :(

I have one twin with anterior placenta and one without, even at 24 weeks I feel dramatically less movements from the AP baby. I still listen to it on doppler often to make sure he's okay.

The other baby I can feel kicking my guts all day long, when I do a kick count I can usually feel the 10 movements in less than 5 minutes.

With regards to the 10 movements, it isnt just '10' movements a day. Its '10' (or whatever is normal for your baby) episodes of movement. So id count that as 1 episode x

I was told in my prenatal package to follow the instructions on this website which say otherwise.

https://www.countthekicks.org/how-to-count-the-kicks/

  • Count the Kicks every day, preferably at the same time.
  • Pick your time based on when your baby is usually active, such as after a snack or meal.
  • Make sure your baby is awake first; walking, pushing on your tummy or having a cold drink are good wake-up calls.
  • To get started, sit with your feet up or lie on your side. Count each of your baby’s movements as one kick, and count until you reach 10 kicks.
  • Most of the time it will take less than a half-hour, but it could take as long as two hours.
  • Log your recorded times using our Count the Kicks App or a kick chart.

Edit- the What to Expect books and the American Pregnancy Association list the same method.

At my 2 doctors appointment the midwife found it hard to find baby's heartbeat on the doppler she said she thought it could be an anterior placenta I'm just turning 19 weeks with my 3rd and I haven't really felt much yet either just the occasional funny tummy feeling xxx

Where was your placenta when you had your 12 weeks scan Jamie? Did you feel your other 2 earlier than this?
I've had a few very questionable 'bubble pops' quite low down today but thinking its potentially just wind or something, as I know it's still early days with an AP!
