Mum and baby parking would you park there if you are expectant?

Thanks for everyones comments. I have to say though, when my LO arrives soon, I definitly wont begrudge a heavily pregnant woman for parking in one of the mum with children spaces, I will be happy as I will remember how shit I felt when I was in my last stage of pregnancy.

I think its also important to consider that not all women handle their pregnancy in the same way, some women have easy uncomplicated pregnancies where they get fed up at the end but generally they are ok and some where they are on bed rest or struggle to walk, even though they should a smuch as they feel they can, someone said pregnancy does not make you disabled, in fact in cases it does.

i do in tesco they sent me a parking permit to park in these spaces at 20 weeks and it lasts till the child is 5 years old hasent any 1 else got 1

I received a Tesco Mother & Baby pass when I joined their Baby Club and stated I was pregnant, so thought that you could use these spaces in later pregnancy?

Anyhow, I think it's fine for heavily pregnant woment to park in the spaces as with some car parks, parking close to another parked car, already means I can't get out with ease. Usually the supermarket's car parks near me are never full, if they were I don't think I would wait for one, or use a disabled. But it's quite annoying seeing parents with older children (not toddlers) using the spaces when they blatently do not need the room. I also have no objections for people with health conditions using the spaces.

i have really bad spd and cant walk far and i also suffer with other things aswell. i still dont think i would use a parent an toddler space without a child with me. we tend to take my neice out most the time anyway so we do use them when shes with us. but if were on our own me and my oh try get a normal space as close as possible we just drive around till someone moves, my oh calls this stalking people 2 get a space hehe.

if i seen a pregnant women use a space i would have a problem wit it i just wouldnt personaly do it.

yep ive got 1 and i use it at the end of the day people who arnt preg or havent got kids use them so while we have got 1 on bord y the fack not ha its only a parking space at the end of the day

i wouldnt do it. if you were massively overweight would it give you the same right?

That was me... if you are on bed rest and/or struggle to walk, then you wouldnt be driving. So your OH or whoever could drop you off at the door and park wherever he wants and tbh if you struggle to walk, i doubt you'd be out doing the shopping, get someone else to do it. I wouldnt begrudge a pregnant woman that clearly needed the extra space but it is for the safety of the babies so they should be used by those that need them most.

I never parked there when I was pregnant the first time (despite struggling to squeeze between the cars), now I have Josh so I park there anyway.

I'd never get annoyed at a heavily pregnant woman using those spaces (esp if you are obviously struggling with walking long distances). But that's me personally.

I DO get annoyed at people without children parking there AND those who have older children. There is always a shortage of spaces and parents with young children really really need them.

So it seems heavily pregnant women ARE allowed to use them, well now its a bit more legitimate im happy with that.

Massivly overweight people often get disabled badges!!! So i guess they are allowed the right.

you are kidding

 oh my, this world has gone mad!

Also (while I'm moaning, lol) I never understand why places like out-of-town Toysrus and Mothercare don't have more parent and child spaces as this is their target customer. If its a busy car-park fair enough, but the Toysrus near us has exclusive use of a massive empty carpark and only 4 child spaces ... think they'd be better off making all the spaces in the carpark wider for everyone.

is it ok for a pregnant person to park in the disabled spaces?

i did used to joke to OH that we should park in those spaces, but never did. i didnt feel like i had the right tbh. I know how awkward it can be to do the shopping and have LO, car seat/buggy/trolley.

agreed!

We asked that in our local Asda (as there are a limited number of Parent and child spaces, and always about 40 empty disabled spaces) but apparently they can legally fine you or something for parking in the disabled spaces without a blue pass ... whereas parent and child spaces are just a curtisy provided by asda and there is no legal requirement for supermarkets to even provide them.

if evey parking space was 3ft bigger wudnt that solv a few problems make them all bigger an there would be no arguing hehe

if that was me, No I wouldnt and NEVER have.

We have established that it is allowed after 20 weeks for a pregnant woman to park in mothers and children though there isnt much aof a debate left.
