if evey parking space was 3ft bigger wudnt that solv a few problems make them all bigger an there would be no arguing hehe

Agreed, you'd also get less door scratches! LOL.

so its ok to park in parent and child claiming disability on the grounds of pregnancy but you wouldnt park in disabled :s

Certain levels of obesity are classified as a disability. While most people are probably obese due to poor diet or exercise, there are some people who are obese as a side affect of their disability. I don't think it is fair to make assumptions about people's medical conditions. There are plenty of people with multiple sclerosis that do not appear disabled, but can mask their agony as they try and walk 10 steps into a grocery store.

As for the original question, no, I would never park in a mother/baby parking while pregnant or even with my child/stroller, but that's just me. Those spots are not common in Canada anyways.

at asda i park in the expectant mothers parking that they so kindly provide! If it wasnt so far to drive there I would go there and avoid the parking issue! whenever I have been there though, vans are parked there - Im guessing these bearded men are not about to give birth! lol x

is it ok for a pregnant person to park in the disabled spaces?

thats a whole other thread! thats just a bit daft i think:thumbup:

Not really. If you cant get in the car because of your size isnt that the same issue a large overweight person would have?

But the overweight person can apply for a disabled badge? So should expectant mothers do the same seeing they have the same issue?

By the way im a size 12 and still struggle to get out the car in some places, its human error in parking really.

I didnt claim disability. and there is no debate as it is ALLOWED after 20 weeks .. obviously mum with child actually means MUM WITH CHILD.

i found this from google RE tescos parking, this is not from tesco website...

'The parent and child spaces in our stores are for parents with children ONLY (child HAS to be present at the time of the shop upto the age of 5) Anyone who parks in a P&C space without a child or a blue disabled badge is infringing on store policy and can be reported. Take the registration number down of the offending car, take it to customer service and they will tannoy the driver to move the car. If the car is not moved Tesco will clamp the car and tow it away.
You can call Tesco's stores yourselves on 0800 505555 and get their policy from them. It does help to display the parking disks you recieve from the toddler and baby club, if you don't have one just call customer services for one.'

they should have their policies online!

^^ similar in most places, it has to be obvious you have a child (car seat maybe?)

I was going to say... I have heard of women getting fined for parking there when pregnant, tesco is very strict about it even though they are a courtesy. My husband works for tesco. Just because they send you the mum and baby parking badge at 20 weeks, doesnt mean they mean for you to use it at 20 weeks. It is for birth to 5 years.

I've been given a pass to use, so why would Tesco's supply people with such passes if they couldn't use them?

i wouldnt begrudge a heavily pregnant woman parking in mother and baby/child space if you can see they are fine, it annoys me to hell and back when i see some lazy sod parking in it tho with no kids at all, just as it annoys me when i see someone with no disbaled badge park in a disabled space, even my mum wont park in one if she forgets her badge in the house, just like i wont park in mother and child unless i have Sophie with me.

I never even got anything from tesco when i joined their club by the way

I mean if we're all gonna go down that road then does that mean its ok to take the pushchair space on the bus?

I can guarantee if you went in there and said look this is the situation, they would be fine with a heavily pregnant woman without a pass parking there, they are not going to say no .. the only people who have a problem with it are the mums with chidlren that are outside the uterus, I just wouldnt have a problem with it - honestly. Maybe thats just me then.

probably because you're supposed to keep the pass til your baby is born??

i have one of these said passes... never put it on my car mind. Since it isnt required. Should have paid more attention to the leaflet that came with!

At the end of the day, you can all park where you want. People will always agree/disagree... have their say or whatever. Parent and child spaces are used by people who aren't in need of them every single day... just one of them things. Unless the stores actually want to enforce their rules then they will always be abused.

I personally think the goverment should issue badges to people with kids and have them expire when then child is about 7! x

staff have seen me and never said anything - one of them even got a trolly for me when I got out of my car! They seemed to think its fine! Also I bought a baby gate and customer services brought it to my car and they didnt say anything I thought it was fine to park there otherwise surely they would have said something?

when did i say i couldnt get in and out due to my size? did someone else post for me? i said i struggle to push the trolly far. apart from being anaemic, having a vitamin b12 deficency, and being heavily pregnant im very petite height wise too so im not very strong at the best of times never mind with my other pregnancy ailments. i never once said pregnancy is a disability. which i know plenty about as my brother in law is in a wheelchair:growlmad:
