Apart from the normal cheese and crackers.

Have all the kids (including stepkids) here on Christmas Eve and want to do a bunch of appetizers instead of making a big meal.

    Anyone have some unique ideas?

Not sure if this is the kind of thing you're after, but this is what we always had as kids on Christmas Eve or Boxing Day, along with a huuuuge cheese selection.

pickles - olives, onions, gherkins, beetroot, peppadew peppers
cocktail sticks - cheese and pineapple, mini sausages, apricots in bacon
mini rolls - smoked salmon & philadelphia, egg mayonnaise, paté, tuna & cucumber
meat - sliced ham, sliced beef, chicken drumsticks, chorizo, salami
    crudités & dips
    coleslaw
    potato salad
    pilau rice
    roasted peppers
cheese straws (puff pastry twisted around grated cheese)
    doritos and salsa
    onion bhajis
    samosas
    scotch eggs
    spring rolls
    vol-au-vents
slices of pizza, cheese & onion tart, mushroom quiche
    fruit and marshmallow kebabs

    Mmm now I feel hungry!

There was a dip that I made last year...smoked salmon mixed with mayo and salt and pepper. So yummy, but the kids didn't like it. LOL

    Thanks for all the ideas!

Have to do a bit of grocery shopping tomorrow :)

I was thinking of doing those weenies too but if you do a can of beer and bbq sauce OMG yum!!! My friend had them at her party last weekend. But once I found out it had beer I'm paranoid I can't serve it to the boys even cooked but some people don't mind lol

I'm doing meatballs, just store bought then cooked in a jar of chili sauce and grape jelly..sounds odd again delicious!

Then making some queso dip to go with chips, having a fruit and veggie tray
