NEW! Friends on Femara

I know exactly how you feel! When we got married we decided to stop preventing, that was four years ago. We knew there would be a chance of having to go through an RE because my husband had Leukemia 2 twice, one he was 12 and the second time I believe he was about 15. Two different types too! They did try to talk about saving some for the future but what 12 year old wants to think about that. He still blames himself for that and I wish he didn't. Anyway, since we started really trying, with an RE, people have been pregnant left and right as well. The first year there was a baby born every month. It was hard not to be bitter! Especially when they say they weren't trying or it was an accident..UGH. I hope this is the cycle for you too! I can't wait to be in the TWW, yet it is the longest 2 weeks ever!

when is testing day wifey? FX for you still.

Hope you all are doing well.

Sorry I've been MIA! life has been so crazy with returning to work and financial troubles. Work has been exhausting, haven't been on bnb much. My apologies!

I'm 11dpo today, tested this am and BFN. There is a shadowy type of line but it's nothing to get my hopes up for. I think it's just the antibody strip or something.

I have a consult with my RE on Tuesday so I plan to test that day so I know before my appointment. I think I might ask to increase my Femara dosage to 7.5 to see if I could get more than one follie. The consult is to discuss what's next, I'm hoping for injections but he may just jump to IVF. If that's the case, we'll have to take a break to save money. Might not be able to afford that for another year. Really hoping it doesn't come to that though and I get my BFP on Femara. 2 rounds left to go!

How are you, mhankins?! What are you at in your cycle?!

Hope you're doing well jcleary, would love to hear from you!

I'm sorry about that Wifey. I hope the RE goes with what you want to do, after all, it is your body and money. I started my cycle, however, we recently moved and changed up insurance. We sent out our check for new insurance, money went out of the account, but they say they never received it. So... We had to start all over and insurance kicks in on the 1st. Problem is, I need a lot of blood work prior to IUI and getting Donor sperm and waiting until the 1st is too late. I am not sure if insurance will cover any of it anyway but I guess its better to see and hopefully save money. I was/am extremely disapointed though! It was a long 2 weeks waiting for AF. Oh well. Fingers still crossed for you wifey but heres to us next month!

Glad to hear from you, I was starting to think you guys weren't coming back lol.

Hope you are doing well jcleary.

Hi ladies so glad I found this forum!
Before I introduce myself just like to say hugs to you jcleary I know how heartbreaking miscarriage is so sending love to you.

I'm quite new to this site so here goes..
I'm currently on CD 5 and 3rd day of 2.5 mg femara. This is my first femara cycle. So a little back ground info on me. I've had PCOS since teen years and am currently 23. 8 months ago after 12 months off TTC I did my first cycle of clomid. 50mg and conceived triplets first go! We were so very excited and surprised. Sadly we lost our triplets at 16 weeks. Its been a long and hard road but started TTC again a few months ago. Back onto the clomid but 25 mg rounds and after 2 unsuccessful rounds (failed to make me ovulate) we have been started on femara 2.5mg.
On my successful round of clomid (50mg) I O'd CD14 and got my BFP 8-9dpo but obviously levels were sky high because of the multiples.
Specialist has said we try 6 x 2.5mg Femara unmonitored cycles before moving on to drilling, tube tests etc. So fingers crossed I ovulate this cycle and we get our rainbow baby I so desperately want. Baby dust to all you lovely ladies good luck xx

Oh MHankins, I'm sorry to hear that about your insurance. Insurance in the USA is such a crock.. It seems like they do anything they can to give a hassle. I really hope it settles soon and you're back on track to TTC. Are you doing anything new this cycle in the meantime? I find that when we have to wait a cycle for something it's a good opportunity to try a new supplement or way to track fertility. The TWW is the worst. I'm keeping everything crossed for you next cycle! Im so happy to have you here, sorry it took me days to reply! That's very unlike me :haha:

Jessika, I'm so glad you found us too. :hugs: words can not describe how sorry I am for your loss. That is so devastating. I think it's very admirable and brave of you to come back to TTC and try again. There are a lot of TTC after a loss boards here on bnb too, I hope you find them to be supportive too. I've had PCOS since being a teen myself, but wasn't diagnosed until I just turned 25. I so hope Femara helps you to ovulate and you get your rainbow baby. My heart goes out to you, sweetie. It's great to have you here and hope to keep in touch! :hugs:

AFM, woke up to my right hip hurting. I think AF is near :( if she doesn't show by Tuesday I'll test, but right now feeling quite AF-like. I've got two more rounds of Femara before we move on, really really hoping I get a sticky BFP and can put more treatment on the backburner.

Welcome Jessika! I am so sorry to hear about your triplets. I can't imagine how devastating that is for you and I hope you get your rainbow baby soon! I found this site to be helpful and comforting. Everyone on here is very supportive and understanding. It is nice being able to talk to someone who is going through the same thing. If your like me, no one else is in our situation that we know and they don't understand.

Have you seen any difference between Clomid and Femara as far as side effects? Clomid never really bothered me from what I can remember, I do remember being very emotional though. I can remember seeing a commerical of a kid running up to his dad and I got all teary eyed and was like what the heck?! Haha

I haven't done anything different. I'm not really sure what to do. I have been taking a prenatal but don't know what else to do. I don't want to temp or do anything like that. I feel like that will make me think about it more and get stressed out lol.
I hope femara is the answer for us all! Wouldn't that be great if we can all be bump buddies :) FX

I am currently on my 3rd cycle of 2.5 MG. Trying to be hopeful but it's hard. So far we have been ttc #2 for almost 2 years. Ttc # 1 took 3 1/2 years and 2 mmc.

Hey ladies. Thanks for your thoughts. I was feeling better but we got the results from the tissue test and it came back as normal. So we have no idea why we miscarried and now it feels like we lost our healthy baby for nothing. It makes me worry there are other issues we haven't found yet :-(. We did a ton of blood work to try and see if there is something else going on but he said it may take a few weeks to get everything back so we are waiting again. I still haven't started my period so I'm still not back on track with everything. So we are still waiting to try again and waiting to see what the blood work shows. I'll keep you all posted

I wish you all lots of luck and hoping we are all pregnant soon!!!

Hello CanadianLady! I so understand what you mean. You want to be so hopeful but at times, it is sooo hard! FX for you. Are you doing an IUI as well? How far along are you into this cycle?

Nice to hear from you JCleary! That must be so frustrating and devastating! I wish I knew what to say to. I always thought things happen for a reason, but when things that like happen, or the journeys we are all on to start a family, I begin to question that. I hope you get some answers you are looking for.

Are any of you like me? I am finding myself obsessing over baby gear.... its exciting, kinda sad lol.. oooooohhhh what a toll this takes on your mind and emotions! I am beginning to remember what this roller coaster feels like again.... I think Im crazy haha

Mhankins -- I've experienced a total 180 change between Clomid and Femara. I had awful, long lasting unwanted side effects that I haven't had on Femara. I would take Femara over Clomid any day! I too have found this site to be so helpful and supportive. I wouldn't have many people to talk to about all of this without bnb. I do know some people who have gone through infertility but I don't really like to talk about it face to face. It would be amazing if we found some bump buddies in this thread!! :)

CanadianLady - :hi: welcome! LTTTC does make it hard to stay hopeful, I know how you feel. I hope that this round gives you a BFP! Is this your last Femara cycle or is your doctor allowing more? GL and baby dust! Keep in touch!

JCleary, my heart goes out to you. That can't be easy. No matter what they find with the baby its heartbreaking. I hope that the testing can determine some sort of cause, and give you reassurance somehow that next time might be better. I'm so sorry for your loss and sending my best wishes and prayers for you and DH.

AFM, 13dpo and still BFN. Onto another round! Praying I see those two little pink lines soon. <3

Aw I'm so sorry wifey... I remember that disappointment, not looking forward to that so I am going to try and stay as positive as possible. I can remember being so disappointed and then the next day ready to go again.

Thank you ladies for making me feel so welcome :hugs:
It's so nice to be able to talk to ladies going through similar experiences.. Hoping we all get our special bundle soon :crib::crib:
With the 25mg Clomid I had no side effects at all. With the 50mg I was quite moody towards the end of the course of tablets and it completely dried up my CM so I had no idea of ovulation date but was temping and got a positive opk 6 days after I finished my course & O'd on text book style exactly 7 days after finishing my course.
Now I'm on my last day of 2.5mg Femara and I've had the worst side effects! Crazy hot flushes last night, mood swings like crazy and a slight metal taste in my mouth. On the bright side it hasn't dried up my CM so let's just hoping the side effects are because my ovaries are working hard and the tablets will be out of my system in 24 hours.. Good luck ladies hope we all get our well deserved BFP soon :bfp:

Aww hugs to you Wifeybby :hugs: thinking of you try stay positive and know we are all here for you x

Does anyone know how long after finishing the Femara you are suppose to O? Have been trying to find some info regarding that but haven't had any luck. Thank you ladies x

I took Femara CD 3-7 and I O'ed around CD 13 but I had the trigger shot. However, my follicles were mature and would have probably O'ed on my own between CD13 to CD15. You might could try OPKs to be sure?

Jess, I think they aim to have you O anywhere between 5-8 days after your last tablet. My RE does a follie scan 5 days after and sometimes I have to go back every day or other day to check on them. Thank you for thinking of me. I've not been feeling too great; my consult with the RE yesterday was hard. He wants to do 2-3 more rounds of Femara and if no BFP move on to IVF. He mentioned that PCOS is related to diminished egg quality, but didn't approve of anything I want to do to improve it. He doesn't want to do gonadotrophin injections because of my PCOS, age and ovarian status I would most likely overstim and it would be an expensive cycle to cancel. He wants us to do IUI with the next 2-3 rounds of Femara, but at $500 each cycle, we can't afford it right now. On top of the cost of my hcg trigger shot and medication; it's over 600 a cycle. I'm just feeling so hopeless to TTC and haven't been posting much.

I would do OPKs too, they are so incredibly helpful!!

Thanks for listening to me vent. :hugs:

How is everyone?! What are y'all up to?! Sending everyone my best wishes and love. <3

Wow I missed a bit, I was checking in frequently and it was showing no new posts...apparently there was lol... I'm sorry you are feeling so down wifey. Going through this is hard enough and the money situation doesn't help any. Our cycle is $825 right off the back and $500 for the iui itself, which I think is ridiculous lol.. then we have to use donor so that adds in another expense.. I hope this next IUI is the one for you and you won't have to worry about IVF..

I didn't have side effects with Clomid either so I hope I dont have your experience with Femara. Bring on the effects if it does the trick though I guess lol. As far as when u O I am no help there. I should be doing a lot of monitoring with the RE so hopefully I dont need to worry about that too much. But OPKs would be a good place to start and give those a shot.

So it looks like this cycle is pretty much out. I have always been really irregular with cycles anywhere from 45-160 days. Got too excited when my first 2 cycles with Femara were about 30 days with o between day 13 and 16. Now on day 20 and lining is still thin with 3 very small folicles. Now we just have to wait to see the fertility specialist on Sept 12th and see what we do next.
