First of all, I really like this thread. I really like this group of cows we have here.

Second, Neko..If your husband ever makes you mad..add some type of dairy to his dinner so he won't know. Make him shit like a mad man.

Ok serious question. I've been contemplating weaning. I was going to start last sunday and didn't because Sophia has a cold and might start this Sunday (Christmas dinner :happydance: ) Obviously she will just get the gross cereal.

Anyway, question 1. Do I have to start her off on cereal or can I go straight to a fruit? And 2. She was born 3 weeks early, so would I go by her real age (which will be 5 months next week) OR do I go by the 4 months 1 week when I start doing things like that with her?

Sorry if it's confusing.

Time to check out baby pictures :wohoo:.

Guys.. my baby is huge, so does that mean i can feed it turkey from christmas at 12 weeks? do you mind.. do you think it will be ok.. I mean the baby is HUGE anyways surely it can digest turkey by now.. im so sick of the crying

oooh.. baby club... ayayaya...

Make sure you give her cranberry sauce and stuffing too. Plain turkey is hard to digest.

That is fine... i just want her to stop asking for milk.. she is giving me a headache.. anything to get her to shut up.:happydance:

Uhmm... My daughter hated cereal, well she didn't mind oatmeal but I had to mix fruit... i.e- oats and puree pear.... I donno im the worst mother to ask. I weaned at 5 months, and i ended up just doing fruit, but then ... i got sick of waiting 3 days for each one... so just did 2 days in between.. the only one that was iffy about allergy was strawberry- so I held off on that one (poor kid) ....

After Ava tried all fruits.. I went straight to veg, and mixed the 2... then .. i introduced meat.. by 7 months she was eating everything we eat in mashed form... she didn't like puree's all that much so we mashed it.. even with no teeth she ate it...!!!

I am not sure if you go by corrected age or what...I would say 5 months is an acceptable time to start weaning.. and if she is 4 months than just try with cereal, to get digestive system used to solids... it won't take long.

Also.. I make all my baby food.. cuz I trust no company to provide baby food.. so that may make a difference... no perservatives to digest... I tried her on one jar food and she vomited everywhere.. haven't tried again since.

Goodluck.. take a ton of photos.. oh and let her get right messy!!! bahahaha

Whit- I would treat her as 3 weeks younger, so maybe wait another few weeks. I honestly wish I did BLW, if you start TW then its quite difficult to move onto BLW at a later date because the baby is used to getting a lot of calories out of puréed meals.
I think just start offering her soft foods to play around with!

and pots of food are not that bad if you are going down the TW route. For the first few weeks you need to get the consistency right, so the pots were quite useful.

Sometimes I think the whole lactose intolerant thing is in his head. He eats pizza.

No cereal for Christmas dinner. She needs cake.

Avery was born (induced) 2 weeks early. I never went by any corrected age. Usually anything after 37 weeks you go by date of birth with no correction. Unless she has any problems when born.

You don't have to start them on cereal. Most people start with rice cereal because it's flavorless and mixed with breastmilk/forula will taste like breastmilk/formula. What about starting with bananas?

We used jars, Avery ate so little at first it didn't matter. Now that she'll eat 2 jars at a meal, it gets expensive. We do some table foods, but she likes to be a chimpmunk and stuff her mouth with food. I'm hoping the stuffing her mouth with food and gagging will stop soon.

Yeah man i like you bitches :haha: :friends:

Dammit, the kid just pooed, why can't she use the toilet like everyone else?

BTW - a fanny pack in the UK would be pretty rude!!!

Whit, you can start with fruit if you prefer, we are TW but BLW would probably be easier

You ladies are so pretty *Major Envy*!

We started weaning at 5 months. I knew she was ready!
I thought you'd go with actual age, not corrected. I thought I read somewhere that the gut starts maturing when they are born. But I'm not 100% sure on that and can't find anything about it atm.
Just look out for the signs. If she's not ready and still has a good tongue thrust reflex you'll notice pretty soon and I think you'd be better off to wait a bit longer.

We never did rice. She gets some porridge sometimes, but she loves her fruits and veggies!

We're doing TW as well (OH MY GOD HOW CAN YOU NOT DO BLW?!?!?!?!).. I know right.

She's too impatient to not be spoonfed :haha:.
