ovulation tests, few questions.

After 8 months with no bfp we have decided to use these tests in January. I normally know when i am due to pain but that hasn't worked for us.

When into my cycle do i start using them?
When i get a positive does that mean i am O or Will be soon?
When is the best time to do them?

I Will be using internet cheapies.

My opks package told me to start taking them at 10dpo for a 28 day cycle, and once I get a positive I should ovulate within 24-48hrs. It's best to hold your pee for as long as possible and test in the afternoon! Or some people test twice a day!

I'm trying to figure out my cycle, so I bought a 50 pack. I started twice a day at CD9, just got my positive at CD28....I was about to stop taking then because I thought I must have just missed my surge!
I bought a 7 pack last month, and followed their instructions, and clearly missed it! So this time the 50 pack was cheap ones off the internet.
