PCOS Buddies (10 BFP)

Jarrow s the best brand for inositol, I got mine on Amazon too n recommended dose is 4g

I take capsules for convenience. If you do capsules make sure they are powder filled and not tablets as I've read the results aen't as good with tablets and can cause tummy issues.

What are everyone's thoughts of continuing the inositol into pregnancy? I continued with the vitex during my first trimester with DD and weaned starting at 12 weeks. Is it kind of like that?

KylasBaby Welcome btw:hugs:

As far as i know inositol is not safe during pregnancy, so i wouldnt continue.
Vitex reduces prolactin so if u have high prolactin that may effect pregnancy, u can continue vitex just like metformin. However, inositol effects variety of hormones so its risky to continue during pregnancy without monitoring hormone levels.

Betty, i used powder form because i hav ulcer and capsules bother me. But both way works. Powder got no taste so dont worry about that part, mix with water and u wont even notice its there.
Since you been to a doctor, do you know which hormones u hav problem with??

I also wanna add that there are different types of PCOS, so what works for one person may not work for other. You guys should discuss with your doctor to see what hormones u got problem with and take supplements accordingly. For example i got high levels of LH and if i took vitex, then i would have messed everything up even more.

Insulin-Resistant PCOS
Insulin-Resistant PCOS is also referred to as Type 1 PCOS, and it is what is most often associated with the classic symptoms of PCOS. These include weight gain, ovulatory interruptions, facial hair, hair loss and acne. Those with Insulin-Resistant PCOS also exhibit a greater potential for developing diabetes and increased testosterone levels – both of which are actually caused by the underlying insulin and leptin resistance.
The goal for treating Insulin-Resistant PCOS is to improve insulin sensitivity. Often doctors will prescribe weight loss, but it can be difficult for patients with this type of PCOS to lose weight. It requires extra dedication to both diet and exercise, and an understanding that the weight will not come off as quickly as it may for others. However, when weight loss is achieved, symptoms do typically subside. Medications to lower blood sugar are also often prescribed, although there have been natural alternatives – such as D-Chiro-Inositol – which have been found to be just as effective in some cases.
Non-Insulin Resistant PCOS
There are some women who meet the diagnostic criteria for PCOS, but who don’t present with insulin resistance. This is what is referred to as Type 2, or Non-Insulin Resistant, PCOS. There can be a variety of causes for this type of PCOS, including Vitamin D or Iodine deficiency, hormone-disrupting toxins, thyroid disease, and adrenal stress. For women experiencing Non-Insulin Resistant PCOS, blood sugar lowering drugs will have no effect on the condition, and neither will reducing weight or going on the pill.
The treatment options in this case tend to be more natural. Patients may be encouraged to avoid dairy while also being prescribed supplements such as Iodine, Vitamin D, Magnesium, and Zinc, along with herbal formulas to reduce testosterone. Natural progesterone may also be prescribed in an attempt to balance hormones and encourage ovulation.

Other Potential Combinations
While the two types of PCOS described above tend to be the most typical presentations, there are some who break the categories down to as many as five different types:
1. Type 1 PCOS:
The classic PCOS presentation described above, with ovulatory issues, increased testosterone, and insulin-resistance.
2. Type 2 PCOS:
The non-insulin-resistant PCOS we have already described, with ovulatory issues and increased testosterone levels.
3. Non-Traditional PCOS 1:
Presents with ovulatory issues, normal testosterone levels, obesity and insulin-resistance.
4. Non-Traditional PCOS 2:
Presents with normal ovulatory patterns, increased testosterone levels and mild insulin-resistance.
5. Idiopathic Hirsutism:
Presents with normal ovulatory patterns, increased testosterone levels and no insulin-resistance.

You know all my testing I'm 2008 to dx pcos I was never told what the main issue was. At this point I'm doing metformin and I take lydia pinkham for the black cohosh. Since I know clomid works for me and black cohosh has similar effect.

I had to ask my doctor about LH otherwise he wouldnt tell me. I donno how it is in US but in Canada, they dont give you ur test results. I see on youtube, some ppl have pages of test results. Thats would be nice to examine ha!

My next appointment im gonna ask about prolactin and some other levels.

Black cohosh works like clomid, it makes ur body produce more estrogen which helps u ovulate or ovulate with better egg quality. I think we can all benefit from Black cohosh. Also Royal Jelly.

My LH was elevated (always get a dark line on OPK's) and my prolactin was high one the first set of bloods but normal on the second lot. Testosterone, thyroid and FSH were fine.

Can you recommend what I should try? My glucose tests were fine. I am overweight by about a stone and struggle to lose it. I don't have excess hair and my acne isn't much to complain about.

Do I need to try gluten free and dairy free or could I try reducing it down to start with? X

Hmmmm I'm going to have to do more research. I was reading a thread on the soul systers site and they were saying to continue inositol in pregnancy. That it helps with progesterone like vitex so not to stop. So confused.

Im not an expert but i read a lot:coffee: You are like me except i got high testosterone which causes the acne.

I would take baby steps, slowly go towards cutting refined sugar and dairy. Use coconut palm sugar if u need sugar but cutting sugar, u will feel great.
Try dairy free for month or two and see how it effects af.
I personally eat gluten free because i gain weight when i eat carb heavy diet, so i just eat complex carbs.

Inositol, Black cohosh and royal jelly would work for you.
Also Peony & Licorice combination supposed to lower LH but i didnt get a chance to try that yet.

How come? did it give u evap? was it the curved one?
Frer never gives me evap, nor my internet cheapies.

it wasnt the curved one, it was a regular one and it had a line show within the time frame that was visible to everyone I showed.. It was white as the urine passed the screen then right away turned pink (under 3 minutes)... Frer told me that there is always a white line and sometimes dye gets stuck there as it passes.. that same day I baught a FRER digi (yes or no ) and it said YES + but the clock stayed..turned out it was faulty..all in one day. :/
