PCOS Buddies (10 BFP)

Krissie good luck with this cycle, glad ur cycles are back to normal. Did u take anything?

Princesstaz I feel like my calculations were accurate because I know when I ovulated so I didn't change the due date on my phone app but did here. She did hav hard time measuring it too. I'm glad ur scan went well!

Just wanted to update you ladies with what has been happening.

I had my very first appointment with the obgyn, we went thru how the pregnancy is going and such. She said finding a strong hb at 8weeks does decrease mc risk a lot which made me feel better.

Then we talked about metformin and pcos diet. She got me confused badly! she said stop taking metformin because metformin doesnt have any effect during pregnancy. She also said pcos diet has no effect on pcos either, usually pcos ladies have extra weight and pcos diet helps them lose weight and that helps pcos symptoms. She said its all about ur weight. If you are overweight and pregnant then we would say ur mc is higher. However, pcos and mc rate relation hasnt been found and she thinks it might be linked to weight.

Then she said LH:FSH ratio is not enuf to make pcos diagnosis. She checked my charts and said that she doesnt think i have pcos.

So im not sure if i should stop taking metformin but i will go back to balanced diet and have dairy a bit for calcium intake. I will still watch sugar and carbs since i dont wanna gain lots of weight.

Oh she also agreed with my other doctor that progesterone doesnt cause mc.

I would say your doctor doesn't know a THING about PCOS! It's about much more than your weight. Your hormones can make you gain weight and difficult to lose it. Losing weight can help, yes, but so can a lot of things. There is a lot of research on the PCOS miscarriage link as well. And again, it's due to the hormones.

She is correct bough about the ratios not being enough for PCOS diagnosis. There are a few criteria that have to be met. That's just one of them.

Personally I'd keep doing what you're doing!

Not sure what they agreed about with the progesterone, but if it's very low or drops suddenly that can cause a miscarriage.

I think i will take metformin until 12 weeks is over which my endo told me to do so. I already eat healthy so im not worried about that. But i do agree that endo may misdiagnosed me with pcos. Which doesnt really matter at this point since clomid worked for me regardless.

My progesterone is not low which makes me feel better because i do believe progesterone can cause miscarriage.

Overall, she made me feel better because i was a paranoid mess since i got the bfp. Just waiting for mc:dohh:

Sorry I've been missing for a few days. I've just been trying to keep TTC off of my brain as well as being sick.

So, I haven't been charting since I've had acute bronchitis and the fever messed up all my charts. I did a few OPKs, but none showed a surge and, again, with being sick, I haven't felt like POAS.

I have had ovulation-type cramping since CD1 (but attributing that to the CP)... And I had creamy, sticky CM for a few days and water CM for a few days, but never caught on to any EWCM.

I'm now on CD 19 with no signs of O being here or coming. My cycles have been so all over the place, so I don't even know when I should be Oing... UGGGG.

I have a gyno appointment on the 28th (which should be AF) to check and see how things are running since the CP.. I'm just trying to fast forward a week! lol

Atuck- :hugs: hope you feel better soon.

Golden- sounds like you have a decent plan.

Afm, I think I might have ovulated yesterday. I haven't got a positive opk but I had a nice spike today and my ovary is way less sensitive today.

Well it looks like I may have spoke a day too soon. It's CD20 and I had a sharp pain in my left ovary and just went to the bathroom and EWCM!! I'm waiting to take an OPK and still can't temp since I'm running a slight fever. I'm just glad to see my body is working a little bit normally and good to see that I'm consistent at Oing on or around CD20.

Hope you catch it atuck x

Fx'd Krissie x

No update here. CD30 and nothing still. Could be due on in a week but no ovulation again. Stopped temping until I see gynae.

Good luck Atuck!

Betty- I hope your doctor helps. When's your appt?

Afm, I did ovulate cd 13. So I'm 3 dpo. :happydance:

I had my fertility appointment today.

He told us we needed to do a SA and have blood tests etc. when I told him he had sent us the forms and we'd done all those tests he denied it and then when he looked for our results, they'd been lost!

So now we have to do all the tests again. It took a lot of arm twisting to get my DH to do the SA and finally he did it and now he has to do it again.

But to make things even worse, he said that if I'm ovulating (which I know I am) he won't help us and that there's nothing that will help. He said even if you have PCOS and you ovulate on your own, your chances of conceiving are exactly the same as someone without PCOS.

He's the only fertility specialist within a 3 hour drive from us and if we wanted to see anyone else, we would have to pay for everything ourselves, including all the testing.

Oh Sarah :( How frustrating.

Krissie - my appt is 1st September so 6 weeks or so. X

AF is here which makes that a 32 day cycle! Love this inositol stuff. First full cycle was 35 days with O cd19/20 this cycle 33 days with O cd18. Both amazingly short cycles compared to my 100+ annovulatory cycles and nice LPs. Hoping it continues to bring both forward!

Wondering about other's experience with metformin. Just ramped up top 2000 mg / day. Been taking it for 3 weeks now. Was hoping it would help with my pre-AF spotting but not so far. Been spotting for about 12 days now. Anyone else have a spotting issue? How many months before you saw a cycle change while on met? Thanks!

Braven- I don't spot so I really can't help. Sorry hun. I have taken metformin for several years though but it alone hasn't helped regulate me.

Kylas- that's great! You will be ready to ttc when Jan comes around.

Betty- fx the time goes quickly for you.

Afm, cd 1 here. Last cycle was 19 days with suspected o on cd 7.

I'm going to up my clomid to 75 mg and take it cd 3-7. So I'm really hopeful this cycle get me a sticky bean.

Ah okay, thanks! I've only had crazy cycles for about 4 months now (with the prolonged spotting) and my gyn was hopeful that this would help. I'm just anxious for it to stop! It really puts a damper on things. Not to mention the constant stomach upset from the met. I know it may not help me ovulate (fingers crossed it does though) but was hoping to see something change after taking it for a month.
