PCOS Buddies (10 BFP)

Hi everyone

CD25 of first cycle of Clomid for Pcos. Think I am at around 10dpo or so. Still have another 5 rounds of clomid to go before gynae investigates further but I am finding myself already researching what all gets covered by medical aid for infertility etc cause our medical aid is almost exhausted already due to all the gynae visits and blood works :dohh:

Going to try catch up with everyone's stories on here!

Going to gynae when AF shows up (probably next week sometime) to hear if he wants to up the dose of Clomid or whether I stay at 50mg. Bit concerned about the intensity of side effects I felt on only 50mg so scared of what to expect next month. Will then also hear the results of my CD21 bloods though from temping I am pretty confident that I did O this cycle.

:dust: to everyone!

Aphy ur timeline is really similar to mine, but im amazed that u got clomid right after u were diagnosed with PCOS. Usually docs give metformin first.

We started trying September 2015, i went to see hormone specialist by Oct tho. I was diagnosed with PCOS around Jan of 2016 (I think), then i took metformin for 4-5 months. Got pregnant with my first cycle of clomid. Had a faint line at 10dpo.

I donno how severe ur PCOS is but seems like clomid works well with pcos.
Maybe try to get more BDing done around the fertile week.

Thanks Golden! I always like to hear from success stories so can still feel hopeful. Gynae didn't even mention metformin. He also didn't say anything about how severe mine is. Frankly he didn't say much at all besides the sonar the first consultation and then a 5 min consultation later to give me the results of CD21 bloods which said I hadn't O'd.

Will definitely try BD more often around fertile time (time and DH permitting) but next month is already a dud cause I have been told I have to go away for work the week I think I should O 😔

I dont think blood test can confirm ovulation or no ovulation. Did u have ultrasound done to check for cysts? Do You have regular cycles? Did u temp before to see if u had temp shift?

When i went to endo, he diagnosed me with pcos because my LH hormone was high but i didnt have cyst and i had regular cycles. After i got pregnant and got referred to gyno, she said that i was diagnosed wrong and LH being high is not enuf to diagnose someone with PCOS. Since i had regular cycles and no cysts, she didnt think i have PCOS. Two specialists and two different answers! go figure:growlmad:

I tempted before clomid and always had temp shift and positive opk, so im sure i was ovulating but maybe not strong enuf to produce a baby:wacko: who knows. Im glad clomid worked for me and i didnt have to deal with more docs.

I hope you were diagnosed wrong, and clomid will make you super fertile!!!

I went to obgyn after 8 months ttc and I had noticed my cycle lengths hadn't become regular (had Mirena removed Oct 2015) and I also started getting severe period pains. He did internal sonar and saw little pockets around ovary which he said you usually see with pcos and so he had me do the CD21 bloods. At he results appointment,he said my results showed my progesterone was at 6.4 which means that I hadn't O that past cycle and so he started me on Clomid and temping. I was only using opk's for 2 months prior that so no temps to give me answers 😔

Im not sure if low progesterone means no ovulation, some ppl do ovulated and still have low progesterone with makes LP short. But again, im not a doctor hehe. Now that u are temping, we can see how long lp is then we can predict if u can lp problems or not.

Ladies i have some questions!

I didnt gained anything up until 8 weeks, then 8-12weeks i gained 4lbs.

I stopped Metformin on Sunday and literally from Sunday to Thursday my weight went up 2lbs. So is it normal to gained so sudden after stopping Met? I lost weight before pregnancy because i cut out sugar and carbs, but now that im eating normal and not dieting, i feel like im gonna gain so much. I already have fat roll on my back:wacko: I never had back fat before and all coming from 6pounds, seems odd.

Dont get me wrong, im super thankful to be preggs and dont mind the weight but dont wanna end up with gestational diabetes.

I lost weight in 1st tri then started gaining in 2nd tri. Just keep an eye on it and see if it is a steady increase x

I didn't take metformin, but I lost in the first tri as well. Didn't gain until 18/20 weeks. I gained about 30lbs during my pregnancy.

I lost in first tri, maintained in second and gained about 20 lbs in third. I was on metformin my entire pregnancy though. I was on insulin in third tri and I think that's why I gained so much.

Were u dieting? Or just eating whatever?

Me? I had to follow a diabetic diet. I was diagnosed at 10 ish weeks. I was allowed 15-30 carbs for breakfast, 45-60 for lunch and dinner and 15-20 for snacks. Overall it worked pretty well. My blood sugar was good until 3rd tri.

Maybe that's what I should follow, will check with my doctor next appointment

Hi ladies!

I've been lurking around trying to find somewhere to land. I started a post, and I guess since I didn't ask a question, no one really replies ...

I'm kinda annoyed with my doctors, but don't have the money to change who I see, so I'm kinda running the joint provided that they let me... (meaning that I just suggested: since my tests were so low that no need for me to wait another month before taking another set of Provera pills and bumping up to the next mg of Letrozol) .... And so the next day, they called me and said "That's fine" ...

I feel I've wasted enough time not knowing what was going on, had to suggest to the doctor that something was wrong before my chart said that I was indeed "diagnosed" with PCOS or thyroid issues (I honestly still think that if I wouldn't have said anything my chart wouldn't say it) Even an ultrasound that showed cystic ovaries wasn't enough to diagnose me --- says the girl doing the ultrasound. [may i ask HOW, i mean i know she probably couldn't cause she was just a nurse, but isn't the point of PCOS to have poly cystic ovaries?! --and it just <bam> showed up on my chart the next time I was in...]

Kinda upset that for 3 years they didn't seem to catch on that I would only have a cycle when they gave me Provera -- that I didn't have any cycles between visits indicates that I only had a cycle from a single dosage --- could they not have questioned anything then?

(sorry) *end rant*

Any one have good vibes/info/stories for me starting Letrozol 5mg? I've never hit over a 1 on any of my progesterone tests.... Really curious if I can do any over the counter things to help boost it when it comes time...And if I should just take this and pray it works and if not suggest to bump it to 7.5 (i've heard many positives out of that dosage)??

Welcome Star- I am so sorry to hear about your long and frustrating journey.

I personally have not used Femara so I have no experience to share. I was completely annovulatory before having DS and conceived him on my first round of clomid.

I have now done three more rounds ttc #2 with no luck so I am switching to femara soon. Either next cycle or the cycle after. I haven't decided what I want to do quite yet.

Sorry to read you had a rough journey. I would be questioning their methods if you're having to tell them what to do x

*waves* Hi krissie!

I've only done one round of clomid, I had a progesterone level of .6 with it ... no ovulation, and no following period
Tried letrozol the next cycle, progesterone was the 1.1, still no ovulation, no following period.
I took off about 5 months cause holidays, got sick, got lazy ....my nephew was born end of March and my MIL was bugging me to go to the doctor.
Saw an MD (the one i'm dealing with now) in April and he put me on 3 months BC to see if we could jump start it on the last cycle with letrozol. I got a whoppin .4 on that progesterone test...so it did nothing.

So here I am starting my Provera (today is day 1 of it, 9 more days, then I get to start my letrozol on CD3)

I think that after one more (following this I presume) round of Letrozol the MD might recommend me to an RE .... and i don't know how i'll feel about that. I saw and endo before and I hated them....i might have just gotten a bad apple old man, but after complaining on him and they switched who I saw and I still didn't like the answers I was getting so I didn't go back...

I hate doctors that don't seem to want to help you :growlmad:

Hi Betty.

I've only had 1 sit down with this MD. So i don't have a standing relationship with him, but I had to see an MD because everyone wanted to give me the "death drug" -- metformin.

But I didn't feel like taking another round of 2.5 was gonna do anything... Waiting another month before taking my Provera is just wasted time, imo. Cause if you don't ovulate you most likely won't have a period, and in my case, I never have one, I obviously go MONTHS without having one (i've gone over years before).

If I have to take charge of getting what I want this way, as long as they'll sign the papers I'll do what I have to.
No, it's not right that I have to go at it that way, but I just don't feel like wasting time anymore.
Now if I was getting results, and we could work through something at that point, sure I'd probably take another round and see how it goes, but with a decreasing progesterone level, and the no cycle waiting game isn't what I want out of life.

(I feel like you girls are getting the grunt of my frustration, and I'm sorry -- It's hard when I don't have any girl friends to really talk to any more)

I couldn't possibly try and suggest anything as I am from UK and am still new at all this lingo :haha: maybe the other ladies can help hun.

Would the RE be through the same office Star? Honestly, I would give it another go as they know so much more than a regular ob/gyn and can help customize your plan. If Femara doesn't work I would take the referral.

I have a doctor that doesn't really play an active role in my treatment. I see him every 3 failed cycles and he comes up with a new plan. This time I don't even have to go in as I can call in and get my new prescription faxed over. But we talked about it in June so at least there is that.
