The fear of getting it really sucks doesn't it! Having had it before I know exactly what I'll be in for and am dreading it coming back.

Don't worry bumpy the main thing is that if you do have it, you'll be put on meds and as long as your bile salts are controlled / respond with the urso then the complications are only slightly higher (i think i read 1%) than a normal pregnancy x

Its a bit uncomfortable for you, I remember having showers in the middle of the night etc and being really itchy!! I developed gallstones too so was feeling pretty crap!!!!

I used the ocsupport website by Jenny Chambers, fantastic resource and puts your mind at rest xxx

Yup

I feel like I'm imaging it sometimes but where I'm there rubbing my feet on the floor at night and sleeping with my hands on a cold wall I think I can't be imagining this!!

Did they deliver you early?

I keep trying to tell myself 'this is all in my head!' when I'm itching like mad at night but I have a feeling that it isn't!

Two weeks ago so it is likely nothing would have shown up then as the itching has been this last week or so.

The itching is maddening isn't it!!! I found something that helps.... don't think I'm crazy though.... men's cooling after shave... yea, I was desperate.. hubby has some, OK HAD some and I stole it rubbed it on my legs and lay by the fan. ... OMG... AMAZING the cold feeling helped sooth enough to fall asleep, and honestly I could care less if I smell like a man, anything to make the itch stop.

I just wanted to update you with my experience of Obstetric Cholestasis. After being diagnosed about 3 weeks ago I've been to the hospital 2-3 times a week for extra CTG monitoring, blood work and fetal wellbeing scans, and I've been taking My blood has shown a slight increase in bile acids with AFTs and LFTs elevated to a greater or lesser degree. CTGs have shown a healthy happy baby throughout. I have felt well all the way through, and my itching has never really reached a point where I felt it was severe.

However my scan on Monday showed reduced fluid around the baby and a repeat scan yesterday showed that the blood flow between me and the baby is starting to reduce so my consultant is no longer happy letting me continue. I had a sweep yesterday and I'm scheduled to go in for induction this morning at 10:00 at 36 weeks +1 !

I'll update you with an early induction story when I return. :winkwink:

Good luck! It was similar for me, and I was induced at 37 weeks. Keep us updated xxx

:flower: good luck Hon! I hope all goes perfectly!

Just a quick update from me. Was diagnosed with OC about 10 days ago. Been constantly monitored, had a bit of a scare last week when bile acids rose massively but I am now responding well to urso, on vit K. Being induced next week middle of 37th week. Good luck to others being induced.
Xx

Have a question...is it possible to have this without the itching? I have some dark urine and liver tests were elevated a few months ago, but they are ok now. I'm not sure if this is something the doctor needs to keep an eye on if there is no itching? Would you definitely be itchy?

There is another, very scary liver condition called HELLP syndrome in pregnancy with elevated liver enzymes..... if your enzymes are elevated your doctor should know. Its very rare though I'm quickly becoming knowledgeable since I was diagnosed with it this week

Thanks, Angelique!! I'm sorry you have HELLP, that is scary. I was worried I had it when I got those bad liver tests, but for some reason they have gone back down to normal and the other red blood cell/platelet counts were ok, I think. The doctors don't know what happened, but have regular liver tests through my gastro who sends them to my OB. Have had 3 normal tests since the ones that showed elevated ALT and AST so hoping all is ok, but still a bit worried something is lurking.

Do you think you'll have to deliver soon? I'll say a prayer for you.

Thank you. It is very scary. I will likely deliver this weekend. Doc is just trying to buy as many days as we can. For baby's sake.

I'll keep praying for you. Also, do you mind if I check up on you? I know it must be worrying, but it's good that you are very close to 36 weeks. Are they giving you steroids or anything?

I don't mind at all... and thank you for the prayers. They said steroid shots don't do much after 34 weeks so I didn't have them.

Good that your liver levels have gone back to normal... lets hope they stay that way!
