Hello Mum2two,
I had OC in my first pregnancy; it wasn't diagnosed till 33 weeks, even though I was visiting the dr regularly from around 20 weeks with crazy itching. I'm pretty sure I did have OC all that time so I would make lots of fuss if I was you and make sure they test you :) x

just got my results back from wed and my bile salts is 19 now and i dnt think its showing signs of goin down x

That sucks - good that it's being monitored though. What are they going to do about it?

My bile acids test isn't back yet, but when I rang up today was told that the alkaline phosphate levels are raised (never heard of that one before!!) which is usually linked to liver disorders - I'm thinking I can now probably guess what the bile acid results will be like!

they have just said that they are goin to monitor me and if they go over 40 they will put me on medication and i will probably be induced never heard of that either they are more concerned about my AST and Bile salts which are both rasing xx

Hey, for the past 2 nights my back of hands, wrists and arms have been really itchy and it actually woke me up last night it was that bad...

I am seeing the midwife on Thursday but had a full blood count last Thurs so do you think I will be ok to wait til then if I am concerned?? Just the early pregnancy unit is in another town and I cannot get there on my own =\

An extra few days won't harm the baby or me will it??? and will something show up on the full blood test as they were testing for something else completely...

:(

Go to the hospital and let your doctor know of it that way you both can talk about on your next appointment. I was throwing up green bile at 30 weeks, terrible pain in my upper stomach that left me in tears and curled up on the floor each time I got up, couldn't walk or keep any sort of food down until I went to the hospital. They tested my blood for ob cholestatis, and ended up discharging me with a diagnosis of acid Reflux, even though it lasted the whole week. It was after the hospital visit that I was scratching myself up! I called the doctor and she told me that my blood tests were negative for ob cholestatis. I continued scratching myself to the point I bled (in my sleep). The itching dissapeared but I'm still hoping that my liver & my baby are fine!

well my only symptom is itching... so far... am going to stick it out til tomorrow, ring the midwife and see what she says and maybe go the doctors, even tho they are useless with pregnancy issues!!! xx

How urgent is it? I have been experiencing severe itching on my hands and feet and dark yellow urine too... I'm quite worried that I have this problem. How serious is it though? Should I call my midwife on the emergency line right now, wait until tomorrow when they're in office, or wait until my next appointment to bring it up (the 19th)?

Can someone tell me what the itching from ICP/OC feels like? The past week I have been itcy all over, it feels like little pinches everywhere like a bug is biting me. I had the same problem in my last pregnancy, I was not tested for ICP/OC then, but when I went into my ob app. I told my dr. about the itching and showed him my marks from scratching and he induced me that week, at 38 weeks, due to the itching and slight raise in blood pressure. I now live in a different state with a different dr. that isn't familar with ICP/OC they keep saying I have nothing to worry about.

Doctors suck! You need to twll them what happened with your first pregnancy and tell them to give you some sort of blood teat or answer!

Am really worried now - went to the docs today because of my itching and he sent me for a blood test straight away. He suspects OC. Also, my white blood cell count is the highest he has seen so needs a specialists opinion on that.

I don't know what it all means but am worried now =(

So it has been confirmed. I have OC. I am on ursodiol and going to be induced at around 37 weeks.

Sorry to hear that you have OC but it's good that they caught it in time so you can be treated and induced.

Yes thankfully. It's a bit annoying but it's for the best. My midwives are awesome they took it seriously right away. I was a bit worried after reading about people who didn't get taken seriously. I'm just worried now because on Saturday I'm moving to an adjacent town and I think I'm technically supposed to switch hospitals and doctors. I haven't told any of my current health care people about this yet as things have been so hectic and it worries me!

Im really scared because from what all you ladies have been describing I have OC. I had no idea what OC was until now and Im scared its too late. Im three days away from my due date.

call your dr. right away or go into the er and demand a test. Good luck!

I went into my dr. visit on Monday and was told they wouldn't test for oc yet and he just gave me a perscription for allergy medication. That day I switched drs. I have a appointment set up with my new one on the 28th.

I asked earlier without much response...thought I might try again.

I was diagnosed with OC a few weeks ago. The itching has been pretty unbearable and has been keeping me up at nights. I have tried Sarna lotion, benadryl, some other prescription anti-itch pills and ambien. The sleep just isn't coming as I need it to.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

If so, are you able to keep working? Is anyone off work now due to OC?

I had OC in both my pregnancies and did continue working until the day before I was induced both times (at 38 weeks and 39 weeks).
